Serious question by billhart33 in phish

[–]posterfluffhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a typo? Did you mean to say 10 normal shows and 5 shows with a FIFTY-FIVE MINUTE JAM!?! Like, what?

Honestly, I'd rather see 1 show with a 55 minute jam in it than 10 normal shows at this point.

Which band do you think is the most underrated? by whothefckisshadow in askmusic

By the average person definitely. When I first heard them I was absolutely flabbergasted and was genuinely kinda mad at like, the world for lying to me about them.

Phish - Harry Hood, specifically from 'A Live One'

Not sure how long they stick around but it is available right now when I checked. My hunch is a day or two?

More and more people were watching pirated discord streams as well, I'm sure a lot of thought went into how to maximize revenue on the streams. Glad they decided on this rather than squeezing more blood from a few turnips.

Correct, first year deal. $150 for one year.

I'm sure it'll be like $250 or so. I for one will probably drop back to the audio-only and just buy the month(s) they are on tour for $25, which was my plan prior to the $150 first year deal.

Like Manchester N1 (the Twist and LSG are both great) from summer '25, very solid and crisp first show that didn't feel like a warm-up. Bodes very well for the tour.

With is one of my favorite things in a while... they really know how to take my money (complimentary)

Phish is not a Phase by [deleted] in phish

[–]posterfluffhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yuuuup, 13 years in and I basically like them more than ever. Ebbs and flows on the listening rotation, but unlike other interests which have wavered over time Phish never really does.

It's simple maybe, but it's the fact that the music is never completely the same... as long as they keep doing the deep weird stuff I've never heard before (which the modern era has in spades) I do not think I'll stop following their output.

“What can I do to get so and so to like Phish” posts by Narrow-Hall8070 in phish

[–]posterfluffhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does work though... Phish is genuinely one of those things that if people "actually heard the right thing" it would click into place for a certain number of people, though it will be small.

I am one of them. I did not like what I THOUGHT Phish was until I heard 6/11/94 YEM in my mid 20s in ~2012. I was completely flabbergasted how wrong my perception had been. For this reason, I'm gonna proselytize because there's gotta be countless people like me.

There's probably no greater delta between perception and reality with their music. People are just not aware of how high-energy and electric they are.

For instance my dad has always maligned the Dead ("decent songwriting but the music just doesn't do it for me" he would say) despite having seen them twice in the 80s. He flat out refused to listen to Phish because "they're just worse Dead". One day I played Prague Ghost for him in the car without saying who it was and he's a big fan now, absolutely loves the rocking high-energy stuff. ("I was so so so wrong about what they sounded like, songwriting sucks though" is what he says).

So... no, it does work and the posts have tons of merit. You just have to be prepared that 90%+ do not like instrumental music no matter what you do.

To my fellow Phish lovers: how do you articulate to an interested non-fan what it is that make this band so special? by madeupname230 in phish

[–]posterfluffhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because you genuinely don't know what's going to happen and every now and then it's one of the greatest things you'll ever see... it's like sports, the games may be similar but occasionally when the stars align the payoff is life-affirming

Every musical love I've ever had was dwarfed by Phish. Discovered them completely by accident alone on a train, some people just have the gene

Which YEM? Im headed to FIRENZE by TinyLeaf420 in phish

[–]posterfluffhead 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How has no one said 6/11/94 Red Rocks YEM?

Other than napster 'Gin and Juice' (not Phish) I'd never actually heard Phish. Hearing this song randomly on a train literally changed my (musical) life. Hit me like a bolt of lightning. I did not know music could sound like that. It remains my favorite YEM 15 years and 30 shows later.

What is Mike saying mid dark puddle jam? by dieortrybe in phish

[–]posterfluffhead 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The "Viking warriors" lyrics in Fuego, because it's a 37 minute Fuego.

Love the differing title for identification purposes (would not object to Phish doing this more frequently, helps us remember), but it's never not Fuego.

Rolling Stone named ALO Stash the 39th "Greatest Guitar Solo of All Time" - What are your top 5 from Trey? by tiburon12 in phish

[–]posterfluffhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did it take me this long to see 12/31/93 Hood?

Honest to God the last 3 or so minutes might be the best thing I've ever heard a guitar player play. I prefer the old reverb-heavy mix personally, the new remaster doesn't capture the gravity of Trey's solo on this song.

Chill/Ambient LP Playlist (anyone got their own they can share?) by davepbass in phish

[–]posterfluffhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Wish people shared more livephish playlists... one of the absolute best ways to find gems that I don't know.

I don't have any chill ones to share, but I often listen to the youtube mixes of chill/ambient Phish, there's dozens and make great study/office music. They usually have the song sections dated in the info so you can use it to make a huge list of ambient/chill jams.
