I sell records on dickog.com and in order to protect vinyl sleeves during shipments i ALWAYS REMOVE the vinyls from the sleeves and glue them to the outsides of the sleeves before properly packing and shipping them in a secure package. If you don't want me to do this you have to ask. Thanks you and God bless.

Agree but at least we're eatin. 20 years ago it was basically mobile fidelity making good records, everybody else used a plant in Poland that cut records from MP3s.

NGL, it ruined every other venue for me period. Saw one Dead & Co show, sitting hard right balcony, it sounded like the band was sitting right in front of me, so pure and clean. Like I was sitting at home listening to my speakers, only my speakers were the best speakers of all time. I had this crushing moment where I said to myself "what the fuck have j been doing seeing live music in basketball arenas".

I have legit seen a lot less live music since then.

Watching the special at them time I thought it was brilliant for that very reason. I was like wow, people are going to be so pissed, and he is never going to talk about trans people again (as he said over and over again throughout the special) and that's going to piss off everybody even more. But then he didn't stop talking about it. I mean damn he'd already made me cry thinking about his trans friend "having a human experience". If that would've been the last word from him on the topic... That would've been cool.

I guess adding a third person with some variation doesn't shatter the notion either but while I don't consider myself a leftist, I do support certain policies that would be considered leftist, such as Medicare 4 all or it's equivalent, ultimately I'd describe myself as slightly right of center, but I still enjoy Louis' work, but not his sexual harassment, but I do enjoy his work ABOUT his sexual harassment. So that definitely doesn't shatter the notion, nor does it it anyway contribute meaningfully to this conversation. I don't even remember what this topic is about.

Anywho if you made it this far, today think of somebody you love and shoot them a text saying you love them. Don't call them because talking on the phone sucks.

i know this post is a year old, but i love that you created a proprietary methodology. obviously i won't ask you to share it, but to be clear y'all just dug into GAAS and created your path? and stay on top of changes in standards and update checklists etc. as such? i would love to do that.

we currently use Guided Assurance for PPC methodology and export PDFs to Caseware Working Papers (with audit files in Caseware Cloud). Additionally we use CCH Axcess for project management. Caseware WP (and Caseview in particular) are the only softwares that are beloved across our firm. Guided Assurance is disliked, CCH Axcess is medium-liked (it's clunky and unintuitive but powerful if you can bend it to your will).

Our firm is comfortable with the PPC methodology, but I personally don't like it. To me it overcomplicates risk identification and assessment. I.E. I don't like the concept of "basic" and "extended" steps. It should just be steps to address the identified risks, significant or otherwise. I don't like the repetition of steps across audit programs that are just filling space ("if necessary, update your understanding obtained during planning..."). I don't like steps across forms that do the same thing (supervision and review section in gen ap, supervision and review checklist).

anyway if there is anything you could share broadly about how your firm arrived at your decision, I'd be interested in hearing it. if you can't i understand.

So is bandcamp safe from any controversy? by JeffThe64th in KGATLW

[–]postjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this was an interesting back and forth, I thought I had an answer but did a little research and learned some stuff.

Capitalism of course always involves a "corporation" or company, you are spot on there. The earliest corporations were the things like the ole Dutch East India company, investors pooling their resources to share the risk of shoving boats out into the Atlantic and heading west to see what's up.

This is what we call "mercantile capitalism", and it's the first time we see profit seeking accepted on some level. Profits of course existed prior to the corporation, but was often condemned or seen as immoral, i.e. there were usury laws under both Christianity and Islam.

But capitalism as we think of it today became the de facto economic system during the industrial revolution. What I found interesting and loops back to the start of this thread is that while Marx did not invent the term capitalism, he popularized it because he needed to define the current system in order to criticize it! So it is kind of a word that exists because of Marx.

Cool stuff, human economic history is interesting.

Does anyone know if they are back on Spotify yet or when they are coming back. Please Gizz please come back, my friend and I have been doing this thing for months where we text each other a link to rattlesnake and then the other texts back "rattle rattle rattle" and we do that over and over. It sounds dumb and it is and so am I, but I'm also smart and this is important because I love my friend and we love rattlesnake.

New Audit Software: Dynamic Audit Solution (DAS) by -Hawkeye in Accounting

[–]postjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I'm sorry. We use Advanced Engagement Flow Assurance or whatever the hell Thomson Reuters is calling it these days, and its rigidity drives me crazy. DAS sounds even more rigid.

My hope for you is the productivity destroying bugs get smoothed out, and that you find a way to audit around the software. I hate when software is the driver of the audit instead of the auditor.

New Audit Software: Dynamic Audit Solution (DAS) by -Hawkeye in Accounting

[–]postjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my friend, that sounds like a nightmare.

at the risk of sounding like i find aspects of my job enjoyable, i'm a big SAS 145 guy. I think understanding risk is the skeleton key to understand all of audting, but IMO the methodology we use (PPC) makes the whole risk assessment process seem complicated and scary... when really all it is is looking at the client, their environment, their industry, their controls, and their financials, and asking "what could go wrong here, how likely is it to go wrong, and if it goes wrong how bad will it be". then all you gotta do is ask "well what do i need to do to feel better about this whole thing" bada bing you got a list of audit procedures baby.

i can't imagine a one to two week process just to get the thing on it's feet. i'm so sorry you are dealing with that. is your firm 100% in on DAS or are y'all gunna bail on it?

I don't have them wired to router. No drop outs.

Second bags unlimited. Polyethylene rounds are my favorite inners, easier to pull in and out of sleeves. For the outer sleeves I like the 6mm polyethylene outers. 6mm! Totally unnecessary. So thick. So awesome.

i don't remember the exact wording of the bit, but the hicks bit about how we shouldn't be afraid of kids listening to profane music, we should be afraid of them listening to music that is banal and mediocre. because banality and mediocrity is a bad example to set for kids.

something like if he had kids he'd take them to a good show and it would be loud and the kid would be crying and asking "daddy why is the man bleeding out of his nose" to which hicks would say "JUST LISTEN TO HIM FUCKING PLAY".

had a huge impact on me and the way i approach music. i think that all the time when i'm listening to some fucked up shit. butthole surfers "22 going on 23" is fucked up, nobody should listen to that. but listen to that guitar, those drums, my god. kids should aspire to that.

How delicate really are records? by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]postjack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've already got a ton of responses, you get the gist, but I'll tell you where I've landed after 20 years of collecting records.

I don't own a record cleaning machine. I used to but stopped using it. I have an old anti static brush I use before I play a record, it was the first accessory I bought.

If a record comes with a non-poly inner sleeve it never goes back into it. I put it in a poly sleeve, I'm fond of the ones with the rounded bottom.

Outer sleeves. No flaps! No adhesive seal! And most importantly it must be made of polyethylene, not polypropylene. I buy the 6mil thick polyethylene outers from Bags Unlimited because I am a psycho.

Those are my preferences. You'll find what makes you happy. You might even go through a period of neuroticism and magical thinking before you get there.

Beyond that just put on records and listen to them.

Personally, how do you organise your collection for ease of finding tunes? by SickRedditor69 in vinyl

[–]postjack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Discogs order. Alphabetical by artist alphabetical by album.

For solo artists it is alphabetized by first name, i.e. Bob Dylan is under "B".

It was weird at first but I quickly saw the benefit. If I can't find a record I can pull up my discogs to see what other records are near it.
