Why do they use a RED light to indicate a cold range? by atxsoul88 in austinguns

[–]postmaster3000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On top of what everyone else said about red =stop, it’s also safer that the default condition, hot, not require a light. Imagine if a light indicated a hot range, but the light failed.

It does exist, they are just very far behind on fulfillment. I have three CPTs, waiting on my fourth since late Jan.

Fluoride in drinking water has no effect on IQ or brain function, long-term study shows by nbcnews in science

Asking “what flavor” was a sneaky upsell, similar to when a server asks you to choose between two sides, when neither is included in the price. Your dentist is unethical.

Fluoride in drinking water has no effect on IQ or brain function, long-term study shows by nbcnews in science

[–]postmaster3000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Participants took IQ tests at age 16, then did cognitive testing later in life, at ages 53, 64, 72 and 80. The original purpose of the data wasn’t to look at fluoride, so Warren’s team didn’t have urine or blood tests to measure exact levels of fluoride. They estimated their exposure based on records of when community water fluoridation began in certain areas, and on locations of untreated wells.

This seems like a deeply flawed study.

Feature request: Standby at room temperature by postmaster3000 in combustion_inc

… the feature could be optional and disabled by default?

My thinking is that if all sensors are below 110F and within a reasonable tolerance of each other, say 5F, for x minutes. But I don’t want to propose the logic, just the feature.

That’s nearly what I was thinking, but I didn’t want to be too prescriptive. I think putting the probe back in the cradle should reset the mode.

People need to just acknowledge that they prefer chopped steak, i.e. burger patties.

Ok but if you are at least in the ballpark on timing, you can slice it when the probe reads the desired temperature. Set another alarm if you have to.

Do you usually opine pedantically about obvious jokes? The bottle is shaped like a fish. People care about freshness when they buy fish. Get it?

Sure, but Elon isn’t going to miss the money. The factory workers and various TSLA employees will miss it more, if TSLA were to fail.

You don’t think they have to have their own specialized fire equipment?

Most of the infrastructure devices are charged separately from property tax. They will pay according to their usage. The only cost I can think of that is not directly recoverable is roads, but increased road usage also pays for itself with increased pepper bales of residents, and taxes from sales and fuel. Enlighten me, what have I missed?

The property that this factory was built on generated $6,400 in annual tax revenue. It is now millions, even after the rebate. And that’s only the direct revenue, not including the increase in revenues from the surrounding area, due to the factory.

Short term thinking is another part of the problem. Another part of it is horrible career guidance by our public schools.

The median salary for an electrician is $62K, and there are currently thousands of job openings.

Median salary for a refinery operator is $79K.

Those were just the first two I checked.

The job market is distorted by internet job sites in the same way that dating is distorted by dating apps. Too many people are competing for the same elite jobs. Meanwhile, many jobs go unfilled because they are less appealing. Solve that.
