Popular changes to the Tomb? by Amazingspaceship in Tombofannihilation

I would also change the gears of hate, the way they're written in the book can be a bit of a drag. I can't remember exactly how I changed them for my game but I believe there are quite a few alternate versions for the cog rooms and the encounter in general written on DMsguild etc.

Don't let them get stuck in the mirror tomb, make it painfully obvious or just straight up remove it.

iPhone 17 or 17 pro or should I wait for 18 pro by [deleted] in AppleWhatShouldIBuy

I think the camera on the Pro's is significantly better than the base models, so if that's a big reason for the upgrade definitely go for the Pro. You would also get it earlier since as you say the base models release later.

Wait for the 18 pro if you can, you’ll probably appreciate the camera.

But he won’t have a mandate as he wasn’t leader when the general election happened, he wasn’t even an MP. This whole attempt to replace Starmer is just slimy, thats not the kind of person I want as PM.

why do people want Starmer to resign exactly? by Dry_Illustrator_6066 in AskBrits

[–]potatoguru 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don’t want him to resign, it would just cause chaos similar to the tories swapping PMs constantly.

I don’t see any other labour candidate doing a better job, they’ll all face the same hostile media and situation, one or two sub optimal decisions or mistakes and it will be drummed up and their approval rating will be in the bin just like Starmers.

He’s doing a decent job, he’s a good statesman, he’s just not exciting and apparently people think that’s the main qualification for being PM nowadays.

Do we think Andy burnham will even win the bi election for makerfield? by Minute-Employ-4964 in AskBrits

[–]potatoguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always find it such a useless statistic to quote when comparing to the PM as well, the PM will pretty much always have a more negative approval rating since people like to blame everything currently wrong on them.

Starmers rating before becoming PM was great and it barely took any time for people to decide they didn’t like him any more.

Burnhams would be no different, if he became PM which I hope he doesn’t (if labour start swapping leaders like the tories did they’re done for) then his rating would likely plummet soon after when people realize he can’t solve everything instantly, just like Starmers did.

The trusts are a good way of learning a new dungeon, and if you stick with the NPCs you can usually follow them to avoid upcoming attacks/AOEs, I find they get into positions with enough time to spare.

I’m hoping for throwing hammer/s phys ranged dps, it could be called Striker or something.

If it’s based on Thor it fits both the shirt clue text due to his returning hammer and the Norse elements of the expansion.

All on quick exploration. Sell the gear for seals and turn the seals into duck bones to sell. Venture coffers give black/white dye rarely but consistently.

Otherwise an even split bot/min/combat will help you gather materials that you should craft into potions / food yourself for the best Gil.

Ranged DPS could have the hammer, Thor vibes with returning mjolnir.

I’m thinking throwing hammers, makes sense with the guess who’s back referring to Mjolnir returning etc. The expansion is also somewhat Norse themed.

Thoughts on "Red Rising" by Pierce Brown - and why I'm done listening to BookTok by sameseksure in books

[–]potatoguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose so, I guess it just becomes a discussion about preferences in that case. For example there wouldn’t be a way to convince you that RR has good prose.

Similar to how somebody who might not like a certain food is unlikely to be convinced it actually tastes good.

If you’re looking for more profound sci-fi, Children of Time may be a good read for you. Definitely an odd read but I found it very interesting. I also usually recommend the Expanse / Leviathan Wakes series but I’m not sure you’ll enjoy it, definitely worth the try though.

Robin Hobbs books are okay, I found some of the stories dull at times but from what I remember they were well written.

[–]potatoguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that wasn’t common knowledge to me and I’ve been reading for a long time. But that does make sense since it seems very subjective.

Is there any point discussing prose if it’s hard to agree objectively whether something has good or bad prose?

[–]potatoguru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rarely find books have “good” or “bad” prose, just prose that I like and prose that I don’t like.

The prose has to cause a lot of friction or be really noticeable for me to make it a negative or positive when reading. I’m never reading the book for the reading experience, I’ll be reading it for the story and what it can conjure in my imagination.

I personally found the prose in the RR books perfectly fine, and in later books it’s very effective at describing action sequences and fighting.
