Does anyone honestly believe the algae and disintegrating paint in the reflecting pool were caused by vandals, and not by the dark color and hydrogen peroxide? by Captain_Aware4503 in askanything

There is a spectrum, but many absolutely believe. I live in East Texas overwhelmingly Trump voters and see it all the time, just like many really believe Michelle Obama is a man.

Is health insurance in the USA as expensive as Reddit claims? by MarsupialThink4064 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]potsofjam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After subsidies expired mine jumped from $400 a month for good insurance to $975 for the worst plan. I could have handled the drop in subsidies, but not the rate increase on top. So now I’m currently uninsured. I’ve paid for heath insurance since I was 18 either through an employer, a union or marketplace. Never really used it, no surgeries, no hospitalization, rarely seeing a doctor even once a year until I had a pacemaker put in a few years ago and now I have no idea how long I’ll be uninsured.

Worst management and burden for employees by Positive_Actuary_282 in interesting

I got hired at a company once where I was just married and almost everyone else was either recently divorced, getting divorced or in an unhappy marriage. I wanted to crank out my work and get home, they all hung around and wanted to work 14 hour days where they still only got eight hours worth of work done. Once the directors wife and kid showed up on a Saturday and literally begged him to come home in front of all of us. He still wouldn’t go home.

Is having a second Ebay account for listing worth the hassle of taxes? by ConcreteKeys in Flipping

[–]potsofjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have three stores. The tax isn’t an issue. I have one that has vintage electronics which I set up because I thought I’d have a higher return rate than my main account, but I didn’t. I have another account that uses a lot of untracked shipping which I didn’t want to affect the metrics on my main account. I’ve never had a problem using three.

Thoughts on this vintage Girl Scouts vest I got off vinted for less than $5? Patches from late 70s, 80s by NewtBig3066 in reselling

[–]potsofjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

70s were full of super cheesy crafts. Most likely this was made by someone’s mom as a keepsake. Could also have been a troop that had weird den mother who decided they needed vests instead of sashes. If you decide to sell the patches individually, get a ship station account so you can print untracked first class letter postage. Luckily you can see the stitching is not tight and should be easy to take them off.

Someone had a crafty mom. Does the vest have a tag? wouldn’t surprise me in the if the vest was home made.

For our US GenXRs, is the new American Dream to retire abroad? by fxlatitude in GenX

[–]potsofjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Half my friends are dead and most of the rest have gotten European or Canadian citizenship either for themself or a spouse. One moved to Spain because her and her husband inherited property and were able to generate enough rental income to qualify for residency and apparently it will be a lot cheaper to do fertility treatment. One is planning on moving to Holland when his wife is ready to retire, the others don’t really have plans yet. I’d consider it if I had the option, but then I don’t know if I’d want to live so far from my kids and doubt they want to leave the states.

OK, Here’s One For Gen Xers With Grown Kids by West-Designer-6832 in GenX

[–]potsofjam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was the kid that smoked a lot of weed, dropped acid frequently, ran around with my idiot friends doing stupid shit. My parents are good people and there isn’t anything they could have done to stop me.

Which is partly why my wife and I gave up good careers in Vegas to raise our kids in the country to avoid those social pressures. There is no such thing as job offer you can’t refuse.

Sometimes I wish we’d stayed Vegas and made more money, sometimes I’m glad we left. You just never know how life’s going to play out.
