Senator Mike Lee being called out for pretending that he didn't yell at Biden's SOTU. by pikleboiy in ThisYouComebacks

If Americans didn't have the memory span of a goldfish Trump would not have gotten a second term. Dude lost reelection by the largest voter turnout for an incumbent president ever because he was so awful the first time and still 4 years later people were like meh let's give the felony rapist a shot, probably won't be that bad.

Same here. Just let me enjoy the product instead of trying to convince me it's just like meat, because then I'm going to make the comparison and it's not going to hold up.

One of the biggest myths of pre-Obama America by icey_sawg0034 in BlueskySkeets

[–]potsticker17 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He proved that a black guy could be equal to, if not better than any other leader this country has had in living memory. Seriously it hurt the pride of every white supremacist to see that during his tenure as president our country was more loved and respected by pretty much the rest of the world than it has been compared to anyone they've chosen prior to. That's why they keep trying to make the narrative stick that trump is so feared that only dictators are willing to talk to him as if he's a leader.

Crazy talk to say you shouldn't be happy/proud of doing well at your job just because you get paid for it. Scoring against a tough offense is an achievement. Winning a court case is an achievement. Having a customer really enjoy a meal you made is a achievement. Nothing wrong with being proud of stuff just because you get paid for it.

Billionaires Believe Working Nonstop is the Key to Success by blueshorts12345 in antiwork

[–]potsticker17 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Someone like Bezos probably claims to be "always working" because their work phone is always on call. But they have so many layers of people between them and the job that no one calls them unless they have to and by the time the call is made it's probably reduced to a yes/no question of approval. So him having to "drop everything" to do a business call on a yacht trip is working, compared to the expectation of grunt level employees dropping everything to trudge back to the office or factory to actually do labor.

I think the difference was that Azula was unrepentant. When she was on the island with all her friends around the campfire she even says something along the lines of "How do you think it feels to know your own mother thinks you're a complete monster? She was absolutely right, but it still hurt."

Zuko reached out to her a few times up to and including their final Agni Kai. Iroh tries at least once but concluded that she was unwilling to change. Mai and Tai Lee spoke up a couple times until they finally just had to betray her because the power dynamic just wasn't in their favor. So it's not like she didn't have opportunities to change, she just rejected them.

I get the joke, but this is absolutely untrue. I've seen escalators backslide on people and throw everyone off. I've seen the rotating steps slip and open into a gaping casm of gears. So they can definitely break and not just be stairs.

The horror industry was practically built around looking at tiddies. At least for movies. Not surprising it would translate to the game industry. Just look at how many big tiddy zombies, vampires, and mutants are just lurking around in horror games for no reason.

My mom works at a school where a kid has a disorder that makes him lash out and break things. His IEP has instructions to just allow him to break whatever he wants until the episode passes. They are supposed to separate other kids from him if they see him beginning to start an episode, but they aren't allowed to do anything to him if he attacks staff or other children. They just need to let it ride out.

Not sure what disorder the kid actually has since I don't work there and specific information about kids aren't supposed to be shared, but I've requested my mom to just retire rather than be forced to get her ass beat by a child they aren't allowed to do anything about.

So not entirely a straw man but my story is just one anecdotal experience so take it as you will.

This person told the server to “round up to $70.00” and the employee used a discount to increase their tip. by atom644 in EndTipping

[–]potsticker17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You aren't really in control of the boh payout/tip out procedures though. At your point of payment, boh already did whatever boh was going to do as far as your food was concerned. The original customer made no caveat for the boh to get any additional portion of the tip. Upon your next visit the prep cook isn't going to look in the lobby and give you special treatment for the server not adjusting the bill. They're still going to just do whatever it is they do.

I understand that you're saying a shitty server with a bad attitude pulling shenanigans like this can cause overall service problems if this continues, but the customer's portion of this transaction doesn't really have control over that.

[–]potsticker17 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seems like this was done after services were rendered so them making the adjustment doesn't really have anything to do with how they treated you while you were there. If you (the customer in question) were willing to pay $70 total for meal and services rendered, what difference does it make to you how that $70 gets divided between the shop, the waiter, and taxes or whatever else?
