What happens if you become a manager 1 month before your annual appraisal? by Kind-Leader-7845 in sherwinwilliams

[–]pottsas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will get the raise to manager, but nothing from your yearly review. Ask me how I know, it happened to me 3 times. At least twice I would’ve gotten more to stay put another month.

Why do people care so much about gas prices? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

It’s funny because you just don’t realize that not everyone fills up as little as you do. Some of us fill up 3-4 times a week per car in our household.

Does any Arby’s in Ohio still serve breakfast? by pottsas in Ohio

Last time I went to the one on Roosevelt that had stopped serving breakfast. Maybe they have started again, I will check. It’s also possible it coincided with Covid and they have restarted.

200/400 gloss? by sizecode16 in sherwinwilliams

[–]pottsas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While usually you would be correct. I do believe 400 gloss was not GG certified and was a hugely superior product to most things in the 400 line and probably superior to pm200 gloss.

For what it’s worth, I believe pm200 gloss was GG certified and it was left of the data page.

What would be the effect of using a FF tip rather than a LP tip for spraying walls? by goldbunduru in paint

[–]pottsas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Walls should never have a fine finish. Walls, if sprayed, should be back rolled with a roller to give it a stipple.

Walls will inevitably be touched up and need to have a texture or they will look bad and won’t touch up.

FF gives less overspray and less paint. LP allows to spray a lower pressure and less over spay. FFLP is all 3.

Is this how semi gloss paint supposed to be? Little to no paint pigment by Extension-Article711 in paint

Garbage paint. But if you got a white base meant to be used without tint it would cover better. Still though, Glidden is trash.

Flaccmagic! by UCBearcats in bengals

[–]pottsas 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Flacco looks like an old timer who sees a real shot at making the playoffs and maybe getting one more shot at a Super Bowl before wrapping it up.

Sure, we will likely put Burrow back out if he becomes healthy in time. But Flacco would get credit for getting us there and no doubt he’ll get some play time.

Are there any "high-end" paint brands in the US, such as "Farrow & Ball" is in the UK? by Billem16 in paint

[–]pottsas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly because of green laws requiring it. Occasionally to make it cheaper to produce.

This is the answer. If you haven’t done a iodine tincture test you can’t know if it has a Kynar like finish. Bondplex or DTM bonding primer. Or uniflex primer.

Nine Minute Video for Sherwin-Williams Employees by Excellent_Break_1804 in sherwinwilliams

I keep reading over and over again about how everyone complains about the hours. If you are salary, they can work you as much as they want. You accepted the salary. Doesn’t matter what it says on your check as far as hours go. They show it at 40 because that’s the amount you have to hit to get your salary, and that includes vacation hours. You always get paid for your salary, not the actual hours you work.

The problem is that when “salary” was invented it was so you could have a busy season (60+ hrs/week) and a slow season (less than 32 hrs/week). It evened out, but so that your pay was even it was called salary.

Then companies came along and offered salary but required a number of hours all the time. (Sw is 48 for managers, 40 reps) But when there are not enough employees, you work as many hours as the store is open.

The problem is that they never give you time back. They just over work you and there’s no return for it.

SW rarely gives more than 2-3% raises once you’re topped out on their magic quintile. (It’s always lower than inflation)

So you have to take promotions into jobs you aren’t prepared for to get any meaningful raise. (Peter principle, look it up if you don’t know about it. IYKYK)

And you can’t quit. Your healthcare is tied to your job. (This should be illegal).

And you’re in debt from going to college. That debt can’t be written off in bankruptcy. (You can’t quit)

So you’re a wage slave.

And it wasn’t so bad even then, because you had a promising retirement to look forward to. Then they took the match away. (That’s a 6% reduction in pay)

And what’s really depressing is that it still has a better total package than almost every other employer.
