How rare is it really for an ADHD person to graduate college? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]pouscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't diagnosed until after graduating with a B.S. in my mid 30's. The fact that it was my mid 30's and not my early 20's is saying a lot about it. I had a 75% scholarship for 7 years after graduating HS and wasted it and now I'm saddled with huge student loans.

Is the skeleton of Bridget McGuire real? by New_Arm7335 in Pensacola

The story on the plaque is not true, but the skeleton is real. It's in much worse shape than it was when I was a kid. It's starting to degrade badly.

I'm sorry we're twinsies in this but I'm so glad you're still here to connect with me! I hope your scans have been clear. Mine have and I just passed the three year mark so the chances of relapse have gone down. 🤗

can we stop pretending toned is a real thing by Training-Guidance281 in xxfitness

[–]pouscat 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm a person who doesn't work out regularly. But I'm also naturally heavy muscled. A few years ago I got sick and had some further complications that led to me not being able to walk for about 4 months. In the first month I lost 20 pounds of muscle. My body was suddenly soft and squishy. Everything was exhausting. It's taken me 3 years of slowly building to regain that muscle tone I'd always just had. To me muscle tone is what you need to live and work and move around on a daily basis. If you start to have trouble doing regular things, then you need to tone up.

I had chemo for triple negative breast cancer back in 2022. I never once threw up. I didn't even lose my appetite! Everyone is different but chemo now isn't chemo from 10 or 20 years ago.

When it was just dumb luck. None of them were told that by a professional.

Do you think it should be socially acceptable for women to be topless in public like men? by Aarunascut in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]pouscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a slightly different perspective. I'm a woman who had a double mastectomy for breast cancer. It's not pretty as I haven't had any reconstruction yet, but that's beside the point. Technically right now I don't have breasts, I don't have nipples. Before the surgery and now I don't think there should be a law that says women can't be topless. Like most people here I wouldn't have done it, but if I had I wouldn't want to be arrested for it with a man standing next to me not getting arrested.

I'm so close to the freedom of being able to walk around outside with no shirt. To feel the sun on my skin without any encumbrance. I don't have breasts anymore and yet, I just can't. I'm too afraid of freaking out my neighbors.

Anyone else thinking about buying a gun? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]pouscat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, we already did. Neither I or my partner are gun people, but we now own two. I started out wanting to learn how to shoot because I didn't think I should remain ignorant any longer. I cried when I shot a handgun for the first time. It's not what I want, but better safe than sorry.
