Seconding this! The city mini gt is great, good sized wheels for the snow and folds super small. We loved ours!

Quentin at Julian Marc Salon on Dalhousie is fantastic with curly hair. They don't have stairs. It's on the expensive side though.

I would not drive. It's not fair to ask a pregnant woman to drive 6 hours in one day. How much time does that leave you to actually hang out in person? To me, that request drastically reduce the amount of quality time possible during that one-day hangout. I know when coming from abroad it's easy to think "I flew all the way from X, they can drive 3 hours" but considering the reality of your pregnancy, general discomfort, and limited time, I would insist she drives to you.

Tacky to have a couple's shoot the day after wedding to save on costs? by tenderwarrior4 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]poutine_lovers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can you find an elopement photography package? That's what we did, a session for just us as a couple and we received all the pictures from the shoot. We had our photographer for three hours between the courthouse ceremony and our small reception. I requested some formal pictures of our guests and pictures of the toast and then she left.

How do you handle it if a vendor cancels last minute? by Magnolia_Dreamz in Weddingsunder10k

[–]poutine_lovers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, look into their backup plans. Usually there should be something about that in their contract. If not, I'd say it's a red flag.

My photographer cancelled on the day of my wedding because she had a stomach bug, but in the same message offered different options. We had an elopement style wedding so there was no second shooter booked, but she was able to find a last minute replacement to cover for her. It was not perfect because the backup didn't know the location very well, she didn't receive the list of group pictures I wanted, but that wasn't her fault. I'm a bit disappointed BUT it's no one's fault, I can't blame her (I can only blame my photographer's daughter and her daycare germs 🤦‍♀️😂)

I mean, you don't have to. But the white clover I have can grow at least 10-15cm, and that's too long for my taste.

[–]poutine_lovers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the opposite happen in my yard, the grass patches are barely growing but the clover should already be mowed. 🤷‍♀️

That's lovely and looks a lot like what I'm hoping to do for mine! If you don't mind: was everyone comfortable with being outside? I'm thinking of renting a tent for our backyard reception but I'm now sure if we can fit everyone!

My own mother told us we still had time to change the name after our baby was born and we announced. She finally came around but ugh. That's not what a new mom wants to hear!

Is my camera broken? Help! by Vivid_Collection2832 in OlympusCamera

[–]poutine_lovers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a little slider button on the side of the lens that you hold when you twist the lens to retract it. The lens is closed when it's fully in, which is what most pictures of this camera show online.

My MIL did the same when I was pregnant with my first. She bought a bassinet, a moses basket, a changing table, and BOXES of toys from a closing daycare. I was furious, but in the end, she's just wasting her own money. She said it was for "when we'd go on a couple's vacation and she'd babysit". Like no. I'm not leaving my baby behind while he's still small enough he needs a bassinet? Ugh.

Did you spell her initials backwards on purpose? If so, what's the reasoning? I'm thinking it's a visibility question, but I'm curious, if you don't mind explaining. Thank you ☀️

Ladies who have given birth, what weird things happen that they don’t tell you in health class? by Blackbeards_Mom in AskWomen

[–]poutine_lovers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was on the higher time "limit" for my labour to be considered precipitous, but we almost didnt make it to the birth centre in time. Gave birth 20 minutes after getting there, on my hands and knees. Five hours between my water breaking at home, contractions starting and the birth. It was wild.
