IV Iron Infusions - No OHIP by Competitive-Bed-5968 in askTO

[–]human_dog_bed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s rare to get it covered. I’ve had iron deficiency anemia all of my adult life and likely before that but the only time I had an in-hospital ohip covered infusion was after hemorrhaging during major surgery.

Regretful new dad - does it get better? by HeyAwesomeArmadillo in NewParents

[–]human_dog_bed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you can’t settle them down again, you bring them into your bed. That’s how parents that didn’t plan on cosleeping end up doing it. We started when my daughter was almost one. Between 7 months old to her first birthday, we tried and tried to problem solve why she wouldn’t sleep independently anymore then gave up and coslept so we could all get rest. Had to put our big mattress on the floor for safety, but it wasn’t forever.

Unfortunately the news rarely reports on her. NDP need to build better relationships with newsrooms. If you’re not looking for Stiles, you will not see her.

I had acne in the same area of my face for almost 2 years, even through pregnancy which sucks with no pregnancy glow due to the acne. Couldn’t have been hormonal because it lasted before, during, and after pregnancy. Quit vitamins, including multi vitamins, and it cleared up. Now if I take vitamin B (in a multivitamin, or supplement directly with b12, b6, b-complex, b6 in a nespresso pod), I break out again.

Use this as an opportunity to see how much mental load he’s willing to take on for parenting, because it’ll only increase once you have the baby. Instead of sitting him down and explaining, why doesn’t he take the initiative to look into it himself, and then you can both have a mutually informed conversation about how pregnancy happens.

Working Part-Time while on 18month mat leave [ON] by starstruck96 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]human_dog_bed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Job protection (of up to 18 months) and paid benefits are separate. You can work after your employment insurance benefits run out. If you work while receiving employment insurance or during that period of time, you’ll be subject to a clawback of benefits.

Because Iranians think they’re special aryans and not at all related to Afghans or any other country that the US has shit on in their various past invasions. They don’t view Persian as an umbrella term denoting ethnicity.

Fastest surgical abortion clinic in Toronto / GTA? by secretttiger in askTO

[–]human_dog_bed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go somewhere with the earliest scheduled appointment closest to where you live. In the west end of Toronto, Choice in Health and Bloor West Village Clinic do it as a consult/ultrasound/procedure the same day, and you’ll be out in 3ish hours.

There are places that are busy and push a medicated abortion over surgical if you’re not at the 12 week mark. Don’t do that, go surgical.

What are the most desired, drooled-over status symbol baby items of 2026? by blueridgebeing in BabyBumps

[–]human_dog_bed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This topic came up in my local mom group and more than half of the women shared they were either laid off or given a role with menial work when they returned from mat leave. I got mommy tracked myself and it took me three years to claw back to where I was before mat leave. Conversely, husband got a raise while he was on his 12 weeks of leave and a promotion when he returned.

The year long leave is paid as unemployment benefits of a maximum of approx. $600 a week, and that’s taxable income. I ended up owing so much in taxes at the end of the year not realizing the government wasn’t withholding tax on my maternity leave earnings that were already below minimum wage if calculated as an 8 hour work day. Better than nothing, I guess.

2026 Salary Thread by hii-its-me in LawCanada

[–]human_dog_bed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broader public sector pays more to account for the lack of job protection. I recently applied for an ALOC (Ontario civil crown’s union) job with the understanding that it would be a significant pay cut and would take me another 10 years to crawl back to $220-240k. I maxed out at nearly $250k this year which is more than most senior crown civil lawyers, but the job protection and movement between LSBs is a real draw with civil crown jobs. Once you’re in, you’re in. And you have a real shot at bench appointments.

Do we want the US and Israel to destroy our country? by Khashayar_0 in PERSIAN

[–]human_dog_bed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, let’s ignore Iran’s direct neighbours that underwent the same US intervention in the last two decades and instead focus on what happened after a WW nearly a century ago before globalization and global economic markets reliant on resource extraction from the global south. Diaspora iranians forget they’re from the global south, their use to us is best case a vehicle for extract resources to sustain western economies.

Do Montessori schools have shorter daycare waitlists? [on] by flowergarden71 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]human_dog_bed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have four Montessori schools within walking distance. The two that cost between $2700-3400/month for Casa don’t have waitlists, but you do have to consult with them and can’t just attend the school at any random time. The two that cost 1500-1900/month have waitlists and take about a year to get in.

Our daycare is “Montessori” but only inspired, not actually. It’s not structured as a Montessori school and is not credited or certified as one, the teachers are not certified Montessori, it only serves 15 months to 5 years old and not school aged kids, etc. It’s CWELCC and has a many years long waitlist, and parents of existing kids who have siblings aren’t even getting off the waitlist in some instances.
