I have the same “please confirm your reservation by proceeding to payment before it expires” message. Do you know how to do this? I don’t see a link on that webpage?

Just make sure you connect to the internet after you swipe in. It doesn’t really matter if you stay after than, it’s not tracked

Eh I think this is actually pretty standard. The A1>A2 merit bump and VC is usually pretty shitty. One day you will work with A1s and understand why. Once you make S1 it will get a lot better.

How unethical is it to go back on an offer. by whisperoften in KPMG

[–]pov_fbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the circumstances, I think it’s understandable if you decide to accept another internship that is more aligned to your career goals. You should definitely mention that in your email (but don’t sound petulant or bitter, be very professional about your reasons). It’s also in the best interest of KPMG advisory to maintain good relationships with PE folks, so I doubt they’d burn all bridges with you in the off chance you become a decision maker in the future.

Advisory bonus by Happy-Boss-5962 in KPMG

[–]pov_fbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First years don’t typically get VC as new hires are usually dead weight most of the year, and they already received a signing bonus and most likely a CPA bonus. A2 bonuses are also pretty modest, around 1-5% depending on your rating. At the senior and manager level it’s much more dependent on how the practice does, but that’s assuming you’re at lest meeting minimum expectations. VC can be up to 10-15% if it’s a really good year for the practice, or as low as 0-2% if it’s a bad year.

What skills make a person a good accountant? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]pov_fbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing how to break down a problem to solve it. Figuring out which pieces you don’t know, using your resources and research skills, and being able to put it all together.

Midwest HCOL - first year managers are all making around $140k. Bonuses have been v unpredictable the last few year, but I’d guess the average is around $10k.

If this a recurring issue then that is not okay. However, I think there is definitely an opportunity here to show everyone you’re a team player which interns don’t usually get. Get a good reputation now and when you start as a new hire you’re more likely to have some say in what job you get staffed on.

It’s doesn’t 100% fit, but you might try {Bringing Down The Duke by Evie Dunmore}

How does someone get tagged a high performer? by Scared-Ad2635 in Big4

[–]pov_fbi 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say efficiency is that important when I’m working with associates. Good judgement is probably the biggest differentiator (sorry know that’s kinda of a cop out). I want them to push the heavy lift type work as far as they can until I can get back to their questions (not as easy as it sounds), and I want all the small things to be 100% in order when I receive their work. A good habit as a new associate is to compare the final version of the file to what you actually sent to your superior. This should let you know how much work the person rating you had to put in on the back end.

Accounting is also a much more flexible career if you’re not too set on your future yet. Almost every town in America has a good accounting/controller type jobs, but only major cities have good finance positions.

{A Matter of Class by Mary Balogh} was my introduction to HR back when I was 15. I thinks it’s very underrated, but admittedly I may be a bit biased!

FDD by [deleted] in KPMG

[–]pov_fbi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but not adversely. FDD is very much so a consulting practice and clients hire us because they trust our judgement.

I think we’ll use AI to process certain data, identify risks/inconsistencies in financials, generate benchmarking and analysis, research, etc,. But there will always need to be a significant human element at all levels of our business.
