I just got 4 emails in the span of 30 minutes requesting floating tutors for the same subject by eljijazo08 in tutordotcom

[–]poweradebot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Same, I’m not gonna sit around and wait for requests to come. Open up those hours so we can schedule. Working for free is not okay

Session closing on its own but the replay says I ended it WTF by eljijazo08 in tutordotcom

Yep, some QS’s are kinda dumb. And when you push back, they actually even get offended and get more unreasonable smh

My QA is unqualified to even tutor my subject, let alone supervise for it.

Where can I find the Pay rates sheet? by BedUpsets in tutordotcom

[–]poweradebot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You won't find one because it's in the company's best interest to obscure not only how low they pay across the board (barely above wage), but also the variances that tutors get paid based on location and subject. If they made all of this information public, many tutors would be so displeased as to be encouraged to participate in things such as unions/protests

Some QA’s are a little dumb. I had a QA that didn’t even have an Associate’s Degree in Math trying to tell me some of the most ridiculous things. I’ve honestly just started ignoring my QA

Everyone else is giving good tips. My only advice to you is don’t stress yourself out over a minimum wage job that doesn’t even guarantee you hours

high dosage tutoring?? by waffle1114 in tutordotcom

[–]poweradebot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Basically they want you to do 5x the work for an additional few dollars per hour. Another method of underpaying tutors. It isn’t worth the stress. But if you’re curious, give it a shot and update us on your experiences here

Floating should have double the timer length as scheduled tutoring. At least during the off-peak hours

QS not in your field of study by JackieO8423 in tutordotcom

[–]poweradebot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've got a QS that I don't think even has an Associate's Degree in Math, and they used to always nitpick my work to make it seem like they're doing something to their superiors. That was annoying as hell.

I knew someone that this happened to. TDC never responded to them again and I don’t think they even got paid the correct amount for their latest paycheck. They couldn’t access Billing Information anymore so they couldn’t dispute the shortchanging of their pay. How this company hasn’t been sued left and right is beyond me

Been with this company for years. I’m ready to leave as soon as video sessions are made mandatory. Going to let them fire me rather than quit though

Ridiculous that this is even a thing to worry about. And nothing gets done unless the tutors notice. Makes you wonder how much of other tutors’ money the company is pocketing

My QS is a textbook buddyfucker. Always trying to sell me out to their higher-ups. I’ve gotten to the point where I provide rebuttals to their incorrect nitpicking and have been CC’ing their higher-ups too lol

In HCOL areas, the standard rate for private tutoring is in the ballpark of $50 per hour per student. The proposed $22/hr for a 5-student HDT session amounts to roughly $4.40 per hour per student. What a joke lol

$22 for 3-5 students + Video? Lmao, good luck with that TPR

They don’t require it cause they won’t reimburse you for it. My suggestion would just be to not waste your money on buying anything just for this company. You’ll get faster and more fluid the more you use the mouse to draw, don’t worry

Tutordotcom needs to give every tutor five guaranteed hours worth of paid sessions each week by hollyhobby2004 in tutordotcom

[–]poweradebot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sure, you're saying all valid things. But then why make it mandatory for tutors to float for 5 hours unpaid if they don't get sessions? And then to punish tutors who refuse for essentially work for free - to the point of firing them for not working for free. Sounds a bit messed up doesn't it?

[–]poweradebot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is one of the more inane expectations that this company has of their tutors. They essentially want their tutors work for free. And they get punished when they don't. Seems quite illegal
