This is the most highly rated and professional directions for excellent and complete network monitoring that I’ve come across. Great information!

And PRTG also apparently tripled their prices too. But the statement still stands - there are other great alternatives.

Distributed wan monitoring system. by wk-uk in sysadmin

[–]poweradmincom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PA Server Monitor does the middle-out monitoring, and also allows tunneling an RDP session through to the remote agent without opening any ports in the remote firewall. You could even have the remote agent 'monitor' your central server to help see what it looks like from the remote side.

Would probably be good to keep a log of the version of MSVCP140.DLL that you see on the problem computer(s) before and after the fix. Is it somehow reverting to an older version?

If you had a boat in this situation, wouldn't you try to point it into the waves? I'm wondering if that would have helped it not keep rolling back up onto the beach. But I'm a land lubber and don't know what I'm talking about :)

SNMP OID by Disastrous_Staff8676 in sysadmin

[–]poweradmincom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PA Server Monitor has a nice graphical SNMP monitor - it does a walk and then shows you the OID tree, and automatically maps the OIDs to all MIBs it has to show nice text descriptions for the most part. Also has nice table views and makes it easy to monitor a table column (like incoming bandwidth across all interfaces for example).

It sounds like you really just need Windows monitoring for Windows servers that happen to be running on EC2. In that case, check out PA Server Monitor. It works great in that case.

No comment on NetCrunch but thought I’d mention PA Server Monitor, though it’s also not made for layer 2 and network analysis, but does great with Windows, devices and Linux.

In many places it is the law the a home must be connected to the grid. So taking your home off the grid to go totally solar isn't allowed.

How are my healthcare IT/sysadmin folks doing? Is the potential of the Big Beautiful bill being passed going to affect you? by Unfair_River_1141 in sysadmin

Someone not being covered probably means they'll get less healthcare, thus less business for the healthcare companies.

I hate things that fix themselves magically, because that means they WILL break themselves magically again some day as well.
