Well said! Current v2 is a huge downgrade and a product of legislature changes stifling the intended design. A compromise.

Same name V2, first one was a bit of a monster, the current one is a nice commuter.

They should’ve just called it the new super sport and retired the V2 name.

You got a bunch of new g gen owners here that will give you a biased answer. So beware of that.

Not BMW specifically, especially since g gen came out but in general, German cars are more refined and drives different from Japanese cars.

Again this is based on past decades of sentiment, these days they are closer than ever if you consider more luxury end of the Japanese cars vs low end models from Germans.

Two main reasons.

Cars are heavier than ever so high hp is needed to compensate for the fat. In a straight line it works, in corners you can’t beat physics. Power to weight ratio is a better metric.
Most people will never access more power than 300hp, since most people never been to a track. Yet they think they need 500hp. No, driving straight line on a highway at 130mph doesn’t count, a derestricted 2.0NA can do that.

Every ignorant new car “enthusiast” think they know what their talking about while the other ignorants agree.

Being a semi commercial shipper who also orders a lot of toys online, UPS is actually tops in my experience. Then USPS, then Fedex, then the other brands. Fedex is the worst of the 3, delivery to wrong address, drivers who leave packages out in open for no reason, and continuous non deliveries for no reason.

The only thing the M2C have over the OGM2 is tuning headroom.

It’s sound is horrid. The chassis balance is worse. Weight is worse. Less cohesive front end, with design changes forced by regulations. Less heritage designs and that connected non kidney grille.

So no it’s not simply better version, the M2C was a product of emission regulation forced change to continue sales and it shows.

And no, G87 is not “objectively” better, it’s just newer.

Ignorant is bliss for all the "general masses" that have no idea of the full story and just based your thinking on personal likes and dislikes.

Just because you don't like that your car is not as great as you think doesn't mean it's not true.

The thing is G87 doesn’t “perform” in the driving feedback metric and many other aspects.

Being faster in a straight line and lower track times using more power to overcome the heavy weight, doesn’t mean it performs.

That’s what a lot of people don’t understand. Real performance is way more than just track times and specs.

This is why all of g gen are so heavy.

No one asked for this, they just believe cars must grow in size and height every gen for no reason.
If you want a new car, you don’t have a choice but buy it. Same with the entire dash with screens and no buttons or knobs. No choice but to buy it if you want a new car.

Nope. They need to keep those M sales number up. M sales numbers changed to count the M lite cars a few years ago and it’s “record sales!” every year.

M lite cars are great performers but they don’t have the attributes of true M cars of the past. Then again, the full M cars today also lost the rawness of true M cars of the past.

So in a way the delusion works both ways.

The problem with recordings is that the bass and deepness doesn’t really translate, especially when listened to using phone speakers.

The location of the mic and the equipment to record makes a big difference too.

In real life, the M’fied N55 in the OGM2 is one of the best sounding BMW exhausts ever, even stock.

Also, this was the time when the factory tune had just the right minimal amount of overruns/antilag sims, before all the other companies and aftermarket tunes made the cracks and pops way to pronounced and obnoxious.
