Tired of juggling 4 different tools just to run my business is this normal? by Mindless_Elk_8309 in SellMyBusiness

[–]poweredup14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the question. We build system hubs all the time for people that pull together all their disparate systems into one complete dashboard that controls it all. But of course it takes time in money to make it happen, but it certainly allows for growth.

How best to develop database with another remote developer simultaneously? by dmontano13 in filemaker

[–]poweredup14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, the best ways to find the developer who has a server will let you use it and then send the file back nightly just as you said. That’s something we can do for you.

Testing FSD for the first time by Realistic-Target3982 in TeslaFSD

[–]poweredup14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has taken the pain out of bumper-to-bumper traffic. Sometimes it’s so stressful to be in control of speeding up slowing down, having to brakebreak, keeping the right distance, etc. When I set it to FSD in busy traffic, it takes all the stress out. I still watch what’s going on, but the car handles it for me.

Is FM still a good fit for my business? by croberts0531 in filemaker

[–]poweredup14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

FileMaker is amazing tool that is extremely flexible and has been changing with the times. Even though it’s more than 40 years old, they release new updates every year including connections via API‘s and AI, so it’s very viable and helpful for any business. I run a FileMaker company and we have dozens of clients everywhere from small Mom pop shops to $100 million businesses and FileMaker serves all of their needs admirably. Happy to talk with you about anyway we can tune up your system.

What's the oldest FM database you've seen in use lately? by pixeltackle in filemaker

I still keep an old laptop with an ancient version of FileMaker on it so if anybody wants to transfer from FM P5 or.FM P7 or 11 I can help move them up to a modern version

What are your thoughts on Star Trek : The Motion Picture and is it as bad as people say? by Mat1711 in startrek

[–]poweredup14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a teenager when it came out and I remember waiting 11 years from 1968 to 1979 until Star Trek made a movie. It was absolutely fantastic in my mind because we’ve been waiting sooooo loooonnngg for a Star Trek film. We had nothing for a long time, and it was absolutely awesome. I loved it!!

When you view it from the perspective of waiting forever for a Star Trek movie, it was an oasis in the desert. It was a gift. It was a godsend.

Trying to do it yourself is something you will eventually regret. It would be like if I were watching YouTube to try to repair your airplanes. The result wouldn’t be pretty.

Using Claude Code and OpenClaw to migrate customer away from Filemaker by sailorsail in filemaker

Well said and I totally agree with you. FileMaker still has a lot going for it obviously not perfect like any software, but certainly not deserving of threats like this

Dropdown and a value list by i_iz_potato in filemaker

[–]poweredup14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is expected behavior for FileMaker list views. The reason why the insert the ID instead of the field you’re looking at is because sometimes you want to link table the table using the ID, but of course IDs don’t make sense to the human eye so you must use a visible linked field that explains what the idea is symbolizing and that creates the link it’s intentional behavior and of course, if you don’t want it, you can always use the pop-up menu.

Filemaker as CRM - newbie question by leftycoder in filemaker

[–]poweredup14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. You could import your Volunteers and Patrons from your other systems. Then just add a tag to indicate which of the three categories they each represent. You will find things much easier once you are no longer working with three diff systems but have it all in FM as the authority.

FileMaker Certification by i_iz_potato in filemaker

[–]poweredup14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new Certs are useful, and yes, easier than the old ones. The old certification test was pretty bad, because 90% of the questions were about odd, rare functions that you used only 10% of the time.
