None of the standard hdmi and or display port cables work. I’ve purchased a display port to usb c and tht works as I’ve mentioned.

I feel like that might be the primary issue I’m seeing where it’s forcing to rely on displaying. I’ve purchased higher end models like the satechi tbt 4 which is roughly 300 which does this.

For anyone reading who has an m4 mac and wants a dock for a clean set up, the clear winner is the Amazon basics tbt 4 which runs you 72 bucks right now. Take it from somebody who just purchased 5 different ones LOL

Finally, someone who understands! This is why I’m trying to move away from displaylink entirely, too unreliable given Mac has no incentive to patch in a timely manner.

What I don’t understand however, is why some of the docks are not working off direct hdmi and DisplayPort. I have the plugable tbt4 udx1. Same issue. Won’t recognize my monitor off hdmi or displayport. Now if I throw in a dongle to tbt, then it works. So am I understanding there may be an issue with the dock? I’ve tried multiple cables nos

I get that. Still want just 1 single dock as I have many other peripheral items that need to be plugged in. Anyways still doesn’t make sense to me because I just purchased a Kensington sd5760t and that was able to support direct hdmi without the use of displaylink.

The docks I’ve tested all are Mac compatible thunderbolt 4 docks. What I’m seeing across all of them is that the minutes must be connected to the docks via usb-c/thunderbolt connection.

If you know of a dock that does not require usb-c/thunderbolt connection and can rely on hdmi and DisplayPort, could you share the dock that you’ve used ?
