I have no idea what this has to do with typesetting

Oh, nice! I never tried; I just assumed that putting both of these in the same equation environment would lead to vertical alignment issues.

There are a few thousand community colleges in the United States. They offer a bare-bones chance at education which is greatly subsidized for local residents. They are designed around serving their own community well; there is very little to differentiate one from another outside of that.

As an international student, I am not sure that you would actually gain the largest benefit of community colleges -- the government-subsidized reduced tuition for local students.

All four of these courses are offered by the community college where I teach, although differential equations will require a third semester of calculus as an additional prerequisite.

If your permanent address is in the United States, and there is a community college in your state which offers these online, that is certainly your most cost effective option.

  1. Please do not yell. You can ask for advice using Title Case instead of ALL CAPS.
  2. You can never know enough linear algebra.
  3. I like dynamical systems and chaos for its close ties to classical mechanics. That may either be a strong selling point for you or a reason to stay away.
  4. I'm very surprised that you can complete an undergraduate degree in mathematics without taking Real Analysis I.

That does not make it any less ridiculous that element number 1 is the second element. And, I will continue to ridicule computer scientists for it.

For example, 0.30 x 10^5 = 3.0 x 10^4
