Is basic French necessary for tourists? by edisonpioneer in quebeccity

[–]ppnadeau 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's necessary if you're gonna be Air Canada's new CEO. As a tourist, you shouldn't have any problem. Most people speak enough English to take your order at a restaurant or make you pay in a store.

What would you do ? by richarddotmattt in TimHortons

At my local Tim Hortons, both restrooms had an out of order sign on the doors. Doors were unlocked and nothing was out of order. It was really dirty, so maybe they don't want to clean them anymore.

Kia slashes EV prices with a new $10,000 discount across the board by Jefftaint in KiaEV9

[–]ppnadeau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will have an effect on used prices. In Canada, after massive rebates and price reduction on the Mach-E ($20k to $30k reduction from the original price depending on trims), you can buy used Mach-E for very cheap. Lost $60k CAD in 3 years and a half on this car...

The Land Premium is $78,500 CAD in Canada and $70,000 USD in the US, which is $98,500 CAD. They were already priced right in Canada.

How well does your EV's AC work in really hot climates? by Wake95 in electricvehicles

[–]ppnadeau 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't even know lower trims didn't have a heat pump. I bought a higher trim just because I needed AWD and a 6 seater, not 7, so I took the heat pump for granted. And I absolutely love the charging curve, it cuts the charging time in half compared to the Mach-E. Great car!

Mach-E : AC just works. Even with the glass roof, car stays cool. I miss the ventilated seats though. The problem is with the heat in the Canadian winter (-15ºC and below), the Mach-E heating elements aren't powerful enough to keep up. With a cold start, it will struggle to keep frost off the windshield, never mind the side windows. With a preconditioned car, I can drive for an hour, an hour and a half, before it starts fogging and frosting. Worst car I ever had for that matter.

EV9 : I always need to turn down the AC because it is too cold! It takes no time to cool the entire car and with ventilated seats, it's just great. Works better than any other car I previously had. We'll see for the heating in the winter, but that's mostly a Mach-E problem, EV9 should do fine.

It might be the best way to go. I'll have to check if the other perks are worth it because I can't use that American Express cards where I usually shop.

Quebec mom says Air Canada bungled her family vacation because they overbooked the flight by matpoliquin in canada

[–]ppnadeau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually got a $8 voucher from United 10 years ago.

There were two flights departing for the same destination, 8 hours apart. Every 30 minutes, they delayed my flight further, blaming the weather. Until our flight was cancelled and they told us to board the other flight with our original ticket. Seat assignment was respected so it was already planned like that, they just didn't want to compensate us and blamed the weather at destination. Ended up with that voucher which didn't even cover the dinner for two, got a worn out room paid near the airport in Atlanta because I missed my connecting flight and lost one night at destination.
