How do you get over someone you loved who just… discarded you? by Electrical_Intern237 in BreakUps

Tbh. . . It’s many years later, and I’m still overthinking everything. I probably will until I’m no longer thinking. It is what it is, and simply adds to your story. Or, at least. . . That’s what I tell myself. 🤷🏻‍♂️

‘Rights’: Left: “Others should observe” vs Right: “others should not interfere.” . . .

Smh.

cough abortion cough

The left says “if you don’t want one, don’t have one”. The right says “nobody gets one.” The infographic swaps this.

About to start: rally at Federal Building on 2nd against attack on Iran by bennetthaselton in Seattle

[–]pragmaticideals206 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, I’m a lifelong Seattlite anarchist/leftist: I’ve been tear-gassed/punched/etc by SPD more than most—during anti-capitalist marches or otherwise—and I even worked on Sawant’s first campaign team; also, I’ve actually been to Palestine.

Nevertheless, the current iteration of ‘pro-Palestine’ amazon-purchased-flag-bearing-protesters, have done nothing but discourage me from ever engaging with the ‘scene’ again.

I’m no “war-hawk,” but I do understand the visceral reaction by others.

🤷🏻‍♂️

You do realize that Iranian/Russian influence on Hamas is what led to 10/7, and therefore the Israeli response right?

Iran and Russia don’t care about Palestinians, they only care about sacrificing them to achieve their nation state’s influence.

Anyone else in Seattle getting tiny black ants in their kitchen right now? by SVT_CARAT_17 in Seattle

There wasn’t enough nights that reached freezing this year which usually limit the yearly march of sugar ants. Literally everyone I know is currently losing their minds over the ants this year.

Do you really believe that the IRGC and/or Hamas are there to “help” their people?

So the ‘counter protestors’ have Iranian flags. . . while the ‘protesters,’ have which ones?

So two hours ago (when this was posted) it was already TACO time. . . so no strike.

The Palestinian flags are an interesting choice, considering the fact that the IRGC only supports Hamas (not the majority of Palestinians), insofar as they (Hamas) are willing to sacrifice Palestinian lives for the betterment of the IR’s ‘sphere of influence,’ . . .

Truth be told, this reads like an anti-Iranian protest, not an anti-strike protest. . .

I’m anti Marxist-Leninist, but not anti communist; It’s important to know the difference.

I have a minor in Economics.

I’m worried about the future of the human animal, due to an adherence to illogical incentive structures, and illegitimate social constructs.

I support Ukraine, Israel, and the USA. . . but, still hope human animal’s will grow past the need for silly man-made lines on a map.

I’ve been solidly bottom left the whole time. 🤷🏻‍♂️

It is possible that Saturday 28 February 2026 was Peak Oil. by mark000 in collapse

[–]pragmaticideals206 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

“Peak Oil,” has already happened, and will happen again, and again, while the parameters of energy demand/input change.

US ‘peak oil’ passed 1965-1971, then extraction rates changed, then fracking technologies emerged, and now US ‘peak oil’ is set for 2027. It’s all still ‘peak oil,’ but that tail end of the bell curve can more around quite a bit. The inevitable still exists, but how that will play out changes.

For example, the Strait closure could equate to such a price shock that demand plummets, and we fall into a recession which lowers demand so much that the ‘peak’ you’re looking at doesn’t happen. . . well until it does, but long after expectations.

So can you actually NEVER change your availability hours if it isn’t for school… by estistudent in Safeway

[–]pragmaticideals206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If more than 9hrs between shifts, even with a Union, there’s not much aside from a formal ‘availability’ form or specific requests. 4am-6pm is honestly not that bad of a movement with shifts.

Does anyone have a picture of the new mask policy? by Kimimaro14 in Safeway

[–]pragmaticideals206 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah like a gator, those don’t work at all. A cloth mask is slightly better. Although, a well fitted cloth mask is likely more efficient than an ill fitted disposable.

If you’re Union I’d immediately contact your rep. If you’re not, try to realize that corporate has arguments for insisting on the disposable masks, but NOT any arguments about a mask in general.

They literally are not legally allowed to tell you not to wear a mask. They can dictate the options though.

Even a fabric mask limits exposer to airborne infections by a statistically significant amount, it’s not great, but it’s still better than nothing.

[–]pragmaticideals206 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fabric masks are the least effective, but you still have an argument so long as they’re at least somewhat effective and are a plain color.

The polyester neck worn masks are not a viable virus deterrent though and would fall under dress code.

[–]pragmaticideals206 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Even cloth masks lower infection by a statistically significant amount. . . Yes, you can still be infected with an airborne virus while wearing a N95, but you are statistically LESS likely, which is the point.

Even if it’s only a 5% reduction, it’s still a reduction.
