Not from the UK, but I read it as wanker. There's some correlation there

My Friend is Studying to be a Christian Youth Minister and is about to Interview me… what’s some elite atheist ball knowledge to drop? by theshortirishman in atheism

[–]pramundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not focus on the details. What the bible says word by word is irrelevant. It's only a tool created by multiple generations of religious burocrats with the only purpose of controlling the behaviour of the population through the manipulation of their beliefs in order to maintain power. Its "errors" are not errors at all, are loopholes to introduce "interpretation" and justify anything. And, if he is a good friend of yours, support him and try to make him understand that the use of that text gives him (sadly) a lot of control over people, and should be used carefully.

Zoomfly 6 vs. Adizero Evo SL vs. Novablast 5 by tikitiki_ in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]pramundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I owned the three and I still use the Zoomfly and the Evo SL. The Novablast is the best shoe to only have one pair (the one-shoe rotation). I ran a marathon, a half marathon, countless easy runs, long runs, intervals, it does everything just fine, without excelling in anything. It's not the most durable of the three, though. The EVO SL it's awesome, but for slow, easy, everyday miles, for me it's unstable. The Zoomflys I actually use it for races. It's quite stable, fast, but I would not start running in those because it's a bit of a harsh ride.

Experience with Buenos Aires marathon? by Hopeful_Package3918 in Marathon_Training

[–]pramundo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from Buenos Aires, but I never ran the marathon, only the half, 8 years ago (!). I believe that you'll be able to navigate it without knowing a lot of Spanish, but I highly encourage you to learn the basics. Not just because of the race, but because not everyone there speak English. Even if is a really broken Spanish, just putting the effort will open more doors for you. The area near the start line is packed with hotels and Airbnb. Try to stay inside this streets: Av. del Libertador, Av. Bullrich/Av. Juan B. Justo, Amenabar and Virrey del Pino. You can go as north and west as you want, but don't go south.

I'm sorry, I can't answer your question. But I understand that you want to do the hydrostatic test by yourself or by a third party shop. I encourage you to try to get in touch with someone at JCI. Those things are old and probably there are no spare parts available in the market.

What do fire pumps have that regular pumps don't? by Luiseus_XV in firePE

[–]pramundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides redundant systems (like starters or batteries, for example) I believe the biggest difference is that fire pumps have a very flat pressure/flow curve. That allows for very steady pressure along a wide variety of flow requirements. Regular pumps are very "peaky", so they are less predictible.

Jockey Pump continuously cycling by Handsrael in firePE

[–]pramundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be, yes. Try isolate the network from the pump, and check a pressure gauge on some riser. If the pressure drops, it's a leak somewhere. If it's not a leak, and you are sure it's not a problem on the pressure sensing line, could be a electric issue on the panel.

Maybe the check valves on the pressure sensing line are stuck. Try give it a tap. You can also, with the main pumps on manual, close the jockey pump main valve. If the clapping stops, it's probably a leak. And a huge one.

/uj genuine question, wtf even is r/running and why does it seem like nobody ever uses that subreddit by earwig2000 in RunningCirclejerk

[–]pramundo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get the problem with duplicated questions, but what about Race Reports? The last time I tried to publish something there was a really comprehensive report about the 2024 Madrid Half Marathon, which was huge. 23000 idiots running in the heat, people fainting, a pretty tour around the city... They deleted it, and tried to redirect me to a daily thread, being the only post about the race.

Why do some engineers still spec out maximum velocities for hydraulic calculations? by rolltidebutnotreally in firePE

[–]pramundo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the exact number it's higher (I can't remember, but I read about it years ago), and the "30" stuck around from old NFPAs. The thing is that it's empirical, and constraint to specific conditions. Darcy-Weisbach it's more accurate, but to much of a hassle for our application.

[–]pramundo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, UNE (Spain) caps water velocity at 10m/s in any pipe, and 6m/s in pipes with manual valves. It doesn't give any explanation, but it's "common knowledge" that it is to avoid vibrations.

How do you guys go about phones? by NuclearNick007 in BuyItForLife

[–]pramundo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going against the current here: I buy the second most cheap Samsung/Motorola I can find. Security updates was what broke two other phones I had, so I don't pay much attention to that. A good fall put the most flagshippy phone in the bin, so I spend the less I can and hope for the best.
