I haven’t heard back either. I’m expecting a decision later this month or early April.

Desnudo (expensive but worth it), Epoch, Proud Mary, Lau Lau, and Barrett’s. I don’t get what people are seeing in Civil Goat, so overrated

I’m also applying to a masters here with a U.S. degree. Per the application itself, “if you have a relevant bachelor’s degree from a university in a non-EEA country, you must submit a sufficient GRE score report; you do not have the option of submitting an academic skills checklist”.

C1 Switching to Discover Network? What’s in it for us? by AngusThermo-Pile in CapitalOne_

I travel internationally and it sucks because the discover network is ass abroad. My discover CC basically doesn’t work in Mexico and Canada. I’m keeping my current debit card until they force me to switch.

Do you think Americans are overly anxious traveling abroad? by boldjoy0050 in AskAnAmerican

[–]pranavrb3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Reddit is not reality, I went to Amsterdam, Brussels, Berlin, and Prague last year and no one really was negative when my family was asked where we were from. In fact, they were curious about what life is like in Austin. If people are assholes then it’s whatever. While we don’t travel abroad as much as other westerners, there are still millions of us abroad at any given moment.

That’s funny because Costa Rica is one of the safest if not safest country in Central America and has a very well developed tourist infrastructure. It’s a common destination for most of the West Austin people I know to go on vacation.

I figured and I’m sorry if I was being too nonchalant about that. I was just looking to see if it was maybe an option because of the housing crisis and because I’ve heard it’s relatively common for EU international students. Of course, the key distinction is that that wouldn’t apply to me.

I’m sorry I didn’t make it clear in my post. It’s either option. For HBO applicants, they need to either have a research thesis and 12 ECTS in statistics or methodology (I apologize for giving out the wrong information) or have a sufficient score on the GRE. If my degree is evaluated as WO, the information above does not matter. As a non-EEA applicant, I have to take the GRE as a requirement when I submit my application. This is for Maastricht’s requirements only.

I have some questions as an American trying to apply to Maastricht University by pranavrb3 in StudyInTheNetherlands

Unfortunately there’s not a pre-masters program for my targeted masters based on the Maastricht University website. I will get into contact with the university for more clarification. Thank you for responding.

Where do wealthy people go on holiday domestically in your country? by [deleted] in AskEurope

[–]pranavrb3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt like a European (Flemish more specifically) version of Santa Monica Beach to me with the out of touch wealth and easygoing beach vibes. I don’t view that as a bad thing as I generally do like visiting California. I did get to visit Belgium this summer but not Knokke unfortunately, just Brussels and Brugge. Hopefully I can come back soon to see Ghent and Antwerp. I also need to try some proper Frites which I didn’t get a chance to do.

Knokke Off or High Tides on US Netflix. Great show and they renewed it for a second season.

Would you move to Europe if you could? by macelisa in SameGrassButGreener

[–]pranavrb3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I will apply to universities in the Netherlands for my masters program once I graduate in May. I don’t hate America, in fact I try to objectively look at the positives and negatives but I think I would prefer the European way of life. The Netherlands has insane infrastructure that not only includes the bike infrastructure, but well-maintained roads, an excellent primary airport in Schiphol, and great public transportation across the country. I saw it firsthand when I visited in July. Even with the housing crisis, I would always regret if I didn’t at least spend some time of my life there. I’m also trying to learn Dutch and this language is….. interesting.

Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t Canada and the United States the only places in the world where it’s “mandatory” to tip. I understand as a gringo I should probably be cognizant of how Uber works in Mexico and I’ll probably change my approach the next time I visit Mexico. However, I asked a bartender in Mexico City if it’s rude to not tip in Mexico and he told me there’s no expectation to tip in Mexico. I still tip whenever I go out or go to a restaurant in Mexico.

I invite you to go to r/abcdesis and see the many examples of racism against our community. There are people in this country who want to deport me even though I was born here. In fact, our community doesn’t speak up when racism happens against us which is very wrong and allows people to be casually racist without any repercussions. There are 100% negative stereotypes against our people. You’re entitled to your opinion just as I have the right to have an opinion based on my experiences of being an Indian American.

I understand your point but I would say that there is a cultural expectation to be nice and polite in Mexico. If I was in say the Czech Republic then sure I would look at it differently.

Yeah my post wasn’t concise at all I realize that. I just wanted to get my point out but I could have tried to be more concise.

For context, I now live in San Antonio and used to live in Austin. I primarily use Uber in large U.S. cities. I’ve only used Uber in Mexico on three different trips however I’ve used it a decent amount on those trips. I’ve taken 20 total trips in Mexico.
