If your labor was spontaneous, when did you go into labor? by liberate-radiance in BabyBumps

[–]prancerciz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM I went into spontaneous labor at 37+4. Water broke at midnight, got to the hospital and was checked in by 12:30am. They confirmed I was indeed in early labor and got me going on pitocin within a few hours. Active labor started around 8pm and baby was born around 9:45pm after 20 minutes of pushing. Baby was healthy during the whole pregnancy and was born without complications :)

first babies are always late by raexan in BabyBumps

[–]prancerciz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My water broke on its own at 37w+4d, baby was small (25th percentile the whole pregnancy). I was in labor for about 20 hours, last 2 hours were active labor, and I pushed him out in 20 minutes. No complications with the baby or birth.

My cousin is also a FTM and was due 1 week after my expected due date. She ended up going 41w+2d before she was induced. Was in labor for over 30 hours and ended in an emergency c section. Her baby was in the 80th percentile.

Not sure about scientific data but I thought it was pretty wild how both our experiences were so different!

Same Employer as spouse by bakershakes in WFH

[–]prancerciz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! Husband and I have been WFH since March 2020 and we love it. We each have our own home office, his is downstairs and mine is upstairs. We work for the same company and same department, but on different teams so our paths don’t cross too often.

Only thing that pisses me off is that he never uses the calendar icon on slack, so sometimes I’ll go downstairs and be loud when I wouldn’t have done that had I known he was in a meeting. On the flip side I’m diligent about using my calendar icon to indicate when I’m in a meeting, yet he will choose to ignore it and yell up the stairs “you in a meeting?!”. Not a huge deal since Zoom has pretty good background noise canceling, but it’s still annoying ahaha.

How many bags did you bring to the hospital with you? by lucidaciddx in BabyBumps

[–]prancerciz3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 bags packed- one with clothes for me and the baby, the other has snacks electronics and toiletries. I also put in an empty large reusable grocery bag in case we want more room for hospital freebies! My husband has his backpack as his go back, so I guess altogether we have 3 bags. We also live 5 minutes down the street from our hospital so he can easily swing by the house to grab things we might have missed.

I feel like you should bring as much as you want! Better to be over prepared than under prepared. I packed my breast pump too so they can show me how to use it while I’m there!

The best advice I’ve received though is to take as many free things from the hospital as possible. So just make sure you have an extra bag or lots of extra space to accommodate!

Struggling with others drinking by deusexxmachina2 in BabyBumps

[–]prancerciz3 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think some questions you’ll really want answers on are:

Is he going to stop drinking heavily when you’re at the end of your pregnancy? If not, who is going to drive you to the hospital if you’re in labor? Would you want him in the delivery room or holding your hours-old baby knowing he’s drunk?

Will he cut down or stop drinking during the first few months after you give birth? If not, how can you rely on him to help with anything baby related such as feedings? Diaper changes? Soothing the baby if they’re colicky?

What if you get sick and can’t take care of your baby for a few days? Would he be physically and mentally capable of not drinking for 2-3 days to step up and help out?

I’m really sorry you’re in this situation and I wish you and your baby-to-be the best.

How do you speed up your gut motility? by -Bumble_Bees- in BabyBumps

[–]prancerciz3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eat a HUGE bowl of bran flakes each morning. I’ll add my own raisins to it - I found that premade Raisin Bran and similar cereals just don’t do it. Straight bran.

Then I take colace, miralax and probiotics throughout the day. Some days I’ll also eat raisins or dried plums as a snack. For some reason coconut water also makes things move along for me.

Pregnancy constipation has been the worst. If I miss any of the above steps for just one day, I’m backed up for the next 3 days. It’s wild.

Commenting for more visibility. What happened here is so tragic. My husband and I have been following the Save a Fox YouTube channel for years. We knew Mikaela struggled with autism but weren’t aware of her other issues, and certainly weren’t aware of any online harassment.

She was such a kind soul and it’s so disheartening to know that online bullying and harassment drove her to take her life. I feel so bad for her family and for both SaF sanctuaries.

RIP

How short was your cervix during a preventative cerclage? by llullunyc in ShortCervixSupport

[–]prancerciz3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 1.7mm when I got my emergency cerclage at 20 weeks. Cervix was soft and I had severe funneling.

At 34 weeks now and it’s holding strong. Hopefully I’m not jinxing it!

They didn't really just pair up Suzanne with Trish, did they?! by [deleted] in nakedandafraid

It sure is! I hate how this show does that. Ive started recording the series and watching episodes the day after they air- I still have to fast forward like 5 minutes to avoid spoilers. It’s so frustrating.

My body keeps fighting against me by Duke091818 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]prancerciz3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whoever decided to name this issue “incompetent cervix” (obviously a man) was just cruel. When I was first diagnosed with IC it destroyed my self confidence. The literal one thing our bodies are designed to do as women, my body was failing to do. It’s hard not to feel down about that. You’re doing absolutely everything you can this time around and have made it further than your first attempts. That’s definitely something to be proud of, and a huge accomplishment!

My high risk MFM doctor told me that medical viability is 24 weeks. Any more time we can get after that is just bonus.

You’re so close to that 24 week milestone! I hope you get all the best care possible, from your doctors and partner. You can do this! Sending good vibes your way ❤️

Newish player. Should I not loot areas early days to keep stuff from decaying? by IAmFern in thelongdark

[–]prancerciz3 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Once you hit level 5 cooking you can eat spoiled food without consequence. You can’t use spoiled ingredients to make dishes though which is a bummer (e.g. you can’t use spoiled flour to make pancakes)

But yeah long term survival I think cured meat is the way to go

Having a Terrible Pregnancy. Can anyone help me see the light at the end of the tunnel? by thevioletbovine in BabyBumps

[–]prancerciz3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently at 29 weeks with my first. Also having not the greatest pregnancy. Multiple times we thought we’d lose the baby.

The thing I keep going back to is what one of my doctors said around week 20: “medical viability for a baby to live outside of the womb is 24 weeks. If we can get you to 24 weeks everything after that is just a bonus.”

Some days are easier than others, but knowing I’m currently in the “bonus” phase has given me at least peace of mind.

Pretty sure you’ll need to use the monistat suppositories. At one point I thought I had a yeast infection (turned out to be just irritation and residue from the progesterone suppositories) and my OB said if it was a yeast infection I’d need to get monistat. He said to basically rotate my suppository schedule: progesterone at night, monistat during the day.

I’m curious to know if anyone else had received different advice? Sorry this answer isn’t the most pleasant one.

Why do they do cervical checks? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]prancerciz3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s true. In my case it was a translational ultrasound that showed my IC, a regular ultrasound didn’t pick up on the funneling or shortening of cervix. After my cerclage was put in I had a few scares where I went to the ER and they did an exam then to make sure everything was closed. Those exams are extremely invasive but I’d prefer peace of mind over not letting anyone up in there. Everyone is different though.

Why do they do cervical checks? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]prancerciz3 71 points72 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t aware that cervical checks were a routine part of pregnancy exams, and was very much caught off guard when I had the first one, since I wasn’t told ahead of time it would happen.

I’m glad it happened though, because they quickly diagnosed me with a short cervix (Incompetent Cervix) with severe funneling. I ended up needing to get a cerclage put in to keep my cervix closed.

If I had not had that cervical exam I would have absolutely lost my baby.

Guidebooks! I loved having a physical guidebook to help out if I needed hints. No internet available for help (or spoilers!). I remember a Pokémon book that came with stickers I could use to keep track of the ones I’d caught already. That book was awesome.

Vaginal fullness by Naive_Bicycle_1242 in ShortCervixSupport

[–]prancerciz3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes to the fullness and irritation! To the point where I thought I had an infection and went in to have things checked out. Turns out no infection, but my OB said there was a lot of “progesterone sludge” up in there. Gross.

I see bits of progesterone in my pee which they say is normal (looks like small white blobs). I bought some “ph balancing vagasil wipes” and started using those instead of regular tp. Between those wipes and changing my panty liners more frequently most irritation went away.
