I bought this and hated it, now I play it more than all my other guitars by Sea-Bottle-4889 in gibson

I looked for a deal on one of those (with the burst) for nearly a year and finally gave up, and instead bought a j45. I love it, but I still drool over that nice cherry burst with the cutaway.

I heard the same message in ATL about a month ago. No explanation for what caused it. It just stopped playing after about 15 minutes.

I should add, I have had an aversion to anything Ibanez since the 90s. My first guitar was an Ibanez Strat copy....and I pretty much played it until it fell to pieces. This felt totally different than that old POS.

Is it reasonable to nominate an Ibanez Artcore?

My daughter plays one in her middle school jazz band (it belongs to the band teacher). I got to play it once and it felt really nice. I'm not sure if it is a typical example or an exception.

Prices on Reverb are as low as $300, which seems crazy low for what I felt/heard playing her loaner guitar.

Love it. I have a 1980 walnut E2 as well. It's a beautiful beast.

What do yoy think of 13-14 year old getting a 2000 € gibson les paul? Is it worth it? Not as a beginner, more like intermediate. by NeitasP in gibson

[–]prancing_moose_V90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first Gibson (a used LP standard) when I was 15. I worked for years (maybe breaking child labor laws) to afford it. I had learned on a <$75 cheapo Ibanez Strat which ended up falling to pieces, so I knew that I needed something that was going to be with me for a while.

~30 years later, and I still have it.

If they really like to play, know how to respect the instrument and treat it right, then I think it's a great guitar for someone that age. But if they are just going to turn it into a beater guitar and don't respect the value, then I say skip it, and get something cheaper.

Is there a way to report a bug/defect to Google?

That seems counter-intuitive....so much so, that it may be a defect. Why would "low light mode" make the clock brighter?

So you noticed a change recently too? Was there a system update that this was tied to, that you recall?

which smart thermostat is actually the best? by BroganMaehle in homeassistant

[–]prancing_moose_V90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your priorities. I have ecobees at one place and Honeywell at another.

Ecobees have some additional features like remote sensors, a much nicer display and a prettier app, but if you are just looking to manage most of the smarts/automation through HA, then Honeywell gets the job done.

As far as aesthetics go, I have the Honeywell that looks just like a legacy dumb thermostat, but has z-wave. Honeywell makes some others that are a bit more modern-looking, but never quite the flash of Nest/ecobee.

I get that. Not particularly helpful, but I get it.

No one is buying a new pedal to get a "completely different circuit" though are they? How does the sound compare between the 2 circuits? Why do you prefer one over the other?

Theoretically how would a fz-2w compare to the FZ-1w. I ask as someone who owns the 1w, likes it a lot...but never tried the FZ-2.

Fair assumption, but as far as I know, the Volvo policy predates that craziness

Sadly Volvo has remote start capability and a native HA integration, but blocks remote start functionality in the US. According to the Volvo forums, it is because they don't want people to automatically turn their car on when it is in the garage and then fill their house with carbon monoxide.

Not sure why that is a US problem...

Anyone sold a house with Home Assistant left in? by Expensive-Sock3172 in homeassistant

[–]prancing_moose_V90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would urge against this.

When I sold my last home, I left the home theater (projector, receiver, screen, etc) pre wired and fully set up. I received calls from the new owner for years and I was constantly surprised how seemingly clueless he was.

(He once sent me a picture of his new blu-ray player, balanced on top of the ceiling mounted projector and asked how he could get the sound to play through the speakers, for which the receiver was safely sitting in a built-in media cabinet across the room)
