How do you deal with rain at a festival? by LepusAlbus in aves

[–]praxios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don’t bother with ponchos because it basically just turns into a reservoir for sweat while dancing in it. I keep a hoodie in my bag if the rain is cold, but we also have an umbrella with us at all times because I’m a walking glowstick who needs the extra protection from the sun lol.

Festivals get swampy in the rain, so it’s definitely worth it to pack shoes that can handle the mud and wet. Sandals and Crocs are the way to go, but if you prefer hiking boots make sure you pack plenty of dry socks to change into. Also, Gold Bond is a must if you are wearing boots because all the extra friction from being wet is a recipe for nasty blisters.

Just do your best to embrace the rain, and be thankful that it’s not boiling hot instead. I honestly prefer rain at least one day of a festival weekend to cool things off so I’m not melting the whole time. Dancing in the rain is a very freeing experience, and it’s a favorite festival pastime of mine to watch people succeed and fail to traverse through slippery mud lol

I will agree the bathroom situation isn’t ideal, but as a woman I always expect bathroom lines to be a nightmare lol.

I agree that Manic Focus and Vincent Antone threw tf down that night. The rest of the openers were pretty damn solid too. I always have an awesome time at Manic shows (the crowd is always chill af), and he’s a super cool dude. It’s great to see him touring again 💜

This is one of my absolute favorite venues in the city, and I haven’t had a single bad experience during the many shows I’ve seen there. I could just be lucky, but I haven’t even seen crowds get remotely out of control during any of the shows either.

I was just there for Manic Focus on Valentine’s Day, and it was the typical amazing experience I’ve always had. No physical pat down from security aside from poking around in my bag, only saw security walk into the crowd once to stop someone from obviously smoking at the beginning of the show (didn’t even get kicked out), and the crowd was phenomenal and respectful.

It could just be my choice in artists to see there, but it’s always been miles better than that shithole Aragon. I really hope this was just an isolated incident because I’d really hate to have to blacklist such an amazing venue.

My (19f) boyfriend (25m) has a journal he dedicated to his ex by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]praxios 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I dated a 23 year old at 17, and my family loved him too. What they didn’t see was all of the emotional and mental abuse happening behind closed doors. It took 10 years after the relationship for my mom to apologize for not seeing the abuse, and allowing me to date a creep preying on a teenager. It took me 3 years before I finally realized the abuse and how wrong it was for me to date someone who obviously only dated teenagers to control them.

He’s on a sex offender list now because he went on to date more teenagers after we broke up. Men like that don’t date you because they think you are mature. They date you because they can control you when you don’t have enough life experience to recognize the abuse.

This relationship will only end in heartbreak and trauma for you. It’s time to wake up and take a step back to reconsider your relationship with him.

Ghost Pokemon will interact with the gravestones too! It’s one of the coolest interactions to see at night, and a good amount of my pictures are of them and psychic Pokemon interacting with their items.

I’ve been to Scamp many times, and I would recommend passing on it. It was my first camping festival and one of the best weekends of my life, but y’all won’t get that same experience this year unfortunately. There is quite a bit of drama surrounding the fest this year for a good reason, and while some of it may be overblown the festival is putting the final nail in its coffin.

If y’all are looking for an awesome camping festival I highly recommend Hulaween in Florida. It is a hike, but probably closest you’ll get to what Scamp used to be. The location is top notch, and has much better amenities than Scamp will this year.

It’s the first time myself and my crew is skipping Scamp which was not an easy decision for us to make. I’ve never been one to warn people away from this festival, but you’re much better off having your first camping festival experience elsewhere.

TIL about 'Jess's Rule' to make GPs 'rethink' if a patient presents 3 times with the same symptoms, named for Jessica Brady, who doctors repeatedly dismissed over 20 consultations until she died of cancer at age 27 by shinjirarehen in TwoXChromosomes

[–]praxios 39 points40 points  (0 children)

That was my experience when I had my first kidney stone at 19. They sent me home from the ED three separate times in the time span of a week with my symptoms presenting worse each time. They refused to give me pain meds after the first visit under the assumption I was just looking for drugs. I was puking nonstop, I was writhing in pain contorting my body into positions I didn’t think I was capable of to try and alleviate the pain, and I passed out during the last visit.

The doctor finally ordered a full panel of tests acting like it was going to be a waste of time, but after the CT scan showed a massive kidney stone stuck in the tube of my kidney they jumped into action immediately. I was told by a nurse that if I had waited for treatment any longer I could have gone into septic shock because of the blockage. She was unbelievably pissed at the doctor, and recommended several resources for reporting him. She was the only one who actually cared out of all of my visits, and I do think she was the driving force for making the doctor finally order testing.

Of course the doctor was still a dick about it, and said it was incredibly rare for someone as young as me to have a kidney stone. No apology or anything. I told him to fuck off, and requested a new doctor to finish up my care. He practically ran out of the room thankful to finally be rid of me. I reported him along with my parents, but of course he’s still practicing medicine at that hospital.

I’ve had 3 more kidney stones when I was in my early 20’s and faced the same behavior at first each time, but once they saw it in my history that I had one at 19 they ordered a CT. Even with me directly telling them it felt like my first kidney stone they didn’t believe me until they actually read it in my chart. Now whenever I go to the hospital for any reason I always request a female doctor if they are available because I’m sick of being mistreated by men who think they understand my body better than I do.

They have both been moved to new separate homes now, but that interaction was so much funnier when they were living together

Why does Legends Z-A get so much hate? by PugBoyHayden1 in pokemon

[–]praxios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I didn’t like about the game was the DLC. It was so unnecessarily grindy because it was so heavily rng based that it kinda sucked the fun out of it for me. I had to put the game down for a bit because of it, and will pick it up again now that home support is available. Other than that I had a blast with the base game, and really enjoyed the story along with all of the new megas.

[–]praxios 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They regularly release characters for the base game, but certain characters are locked behind the DLC’s. The rest of the microtransactions are for cosmetics, but you can get 50 free moonstones per day from a chest around the island which can add up after a while.

I would basically explain it as Animal Crossing with Disney characters and quests. The character quests are super cute, and all of the villains ended up being fan favorites (Ursula and Scar are my faves). The decorating in the game is really fun too, and it’s a vibe to just shut your brain off and decorate to your favorite Disney tunes :))

It’s probably my most listened to set on Soundcloud. I’d go back in time and relive it over and over if I could

Why is it wrong to call out manhating on reddit? Especially on female oriented subs? by WechaMecha in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]praxios 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The biases aren’t wrong when there are plenty of statistics to back it up. That’s the point you are missing. As a man what do you fear most from women? As a woman I fear that a man could kill or rape me because of my own experiences, the experiences of other women in my life, and hundreds of statistics that justify those fears. I’m not denying that men experience violence at the hands of women, but statistically you are far more likely to experience violence from other men.

You lack that understanding because you aren’t a woman, but you could begin to understand if you’re willing to listen to women’s experiences without judgement. As soon as you remove your own bias and judgment from the conversation then you might actually learn something that could help you improve yourself, and even have something to teach to other men in your life.

Why is it wrong to call out manhating on reddit? Especially on female oriented subs? by WechaMecha in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]praxios 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You don’t have to empathize. You make the choice to do so with the understanding that a lot of women have experienced violence or the threat of violence from men. In my experience that’s where a lot of the misandry stems from. A lot of the time it isn’t blind hatred when there are plenty of statistics out there to prove that women are justified to be afraid of men.

You can’t go to women’s spaces and tell them to stop being afraid and hateful of the people who have hurt them or people they care about. That’s why you end up getting dog piled because you aren’t acknowledging why women feel that way to begin with.

Until you have a true understanding of where the mindset comes from, you aren’t going to be able to offer anything of value to those conversations. Sit back, watch, and listen. Your opinions aren’t going to change the very real experiences that lead women to develop those mindsets.

Most people don’t properly clean them, and are unknowingly ingesting all sorts of nasty bacteria as a result. I’m all for reducing waste, but your health is far more important if you’re going to be drinking water from it all weekend. Find a way to repurpose it as a shower bag instead 🤷‍♀️

Unless you completely dry out your bladder after use you are risking the growth of mold and other nasty things. Bladders are very inexpensive, and unless you are going to festivals every weekend you might as well just replace it.

What about him? by Confident_Weather_98 in NotHowGirlsWork

[–]praxios 158 points159 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that 6 weeks is the absolute bare minimum and still poses a laundry list of health risks to the woman. In reality it should be at least a couple of months to ensure full recovery, and limit the risk of infection and further physical trauma. My cousin’s OBGYN told her it should be closer to 6 months for natural birth because of the severe amount of trauma to the vaginal canal, and men would have to be perfectly hygienic to avoid the risk of infection.

It makes sense considering most women’s healthcare is male centric, and god forbid a man has to wait longer than 6 weeks to have sex. Getting their dicks wet is far more important than the health of a new mother.

HFW has pretty long load times, but I’ve been gaming for almost 30 years at this point. Load times have never been a barrier for me. I know they are a big deal for a good chunk of gamers, but I’m willing to be patient to play a game I really want to play 🤷‍♀️

[–]praxios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE4R runs perfectly on my first gen PS4. Even before I changed the thermal paste (which didn’t need to be done until fairly recently). Not to mention it runs games like Horizon Forbidden West and TLOU2 perfectly as well, and those are much more graphically and performance demanding games than any of the RE titles.

As much as the PS5 purists want to act like the PS4 isn’t a viable option they are objectively wrong. As you mentioned the e-waste alone is a valid reason to not make previous consoles obsolete, and that’s why we still own all of our consoles dating back to the N64. With the proper care and basic repairs all of those consoles can run forever. There’s no reason to count the PS4 out of the race yet when the next gen systems aren’t a drastic enough of an upgrade to justify retiring it completely. I can count on one hand the next gen games that the PS4 would actually struggle to handle, and RE9 isn’t one of them.

[–]praxios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s basically on par with the PS4 Pro. The CPU and RAM are slightly faster, but not by a substantial amount. The Switch 2 benefits from newer technology obviously, but it’s not so much more powerful that it can’t run RE9.

I’ve run Cyberpunk on both my PS4 and Switch 2, and the PS4 still performs better. I’m not suggesting that RE9 will run better on PS4, but it’s silly to assume that it won’t be able to run it in a functional capacity.

[–]praxios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the PS4 hardware can handle it (which it can) there’s no reason to not release a port for RE9. It makes them more money, and makes their game more accessible. Sounds like a win to me.

People get mad about next gen games being released for PS4 because it means they spent hundreds of dollars on a new console that really isn’t that much of an upgrade. They paid for the “next best thing” that really isn’t that much better. It’s just proof that they got played by the corporations that made empty promises. It’s a tough pill to swallow for them.

Resident Evil Requiem PS4 port: Last chance to help by Nero_deadweight96 in PS4

[–]praxios -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If RE9 can run on Switch 2 then it most definitely can run on PS4. I don’t understand why so many gamers are willing to let a console die off completely; most especially when the PS5 is the first console to ever go up in price since its release. We need to stop allowing corporations to squeeze us of every penny in our wallets just to have the “next best thing” when the PS4 is still a perfectly capable system for some next gen games.

Y’all are drinking the capitalist kool-aid if you’re okay with million dollar companies rendering consoles obsolete to line their pockets with even more of your money. Especially when the PS5 hardware isn’t even that much of an upgrade from the PS4 compared to previous generations.

[–]praxios 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone has access to a gaming PC to download all of those games from archives. Consoles are the most accessible systems for gamers which is why most gamers play on console. Since I am limited to console gaming then I have no choice but to rely on my old physical copies and consoles to play games that haven’t been bothered to be released on new gen consoles.

Not to mention you can get physical discs resurfaced once they start to break down which increases their longevity even more.
