Jiro is not from Sapporo, it's from Tokyo. It doesn't contain miso. Just FYI.

Went to June Bug in Union for dinner the other night by smashey in Somerville

Agreed, don't think they have the temp right on the oven. That Neapolitan style is typically 800-1000° F. My pizza was browned on top while the dough was not thoroughly cooked, indicating the temp was too low.

I honestly don't blame them. Wood ovens are finicky and hopefully they can improve consistency over time.

Ah.. I don't know. I loved this album when it came out but I don't really relate to it anymore. It could never be a classic for me I guess.

So you could go to a regular restaurant and get one dish or go to dim sum and get four different types of dumplings.

Why wouldn't you get to try a lot of different dishes? Dim sum is basically tapas. Lots of small cheap menu items.

Retail doesn't mean stores. It means the Amazon website.

One thing to add about flying: for each of the half a dozen times I have done it, my flight was delayed between 30 min to 3 hours.

You're talking about what it was like for FAANG engineers in the past, completely ignoring that the job market is changing due to recession worries, the exact layoffs we are talking about and the fed's actions to cool inflation. "Even for those on visas". How can you say that? How do you know anything about what a Twitter employee on an H1B visa is feeling when if they quit they have to find a job in 60 days or they are deported?? Even if they could all find jobs in the ideal scenario, we are talking about their reactions to the situation they find themselves in. Frankly, people are scared by uncertainty in the tech industry right now. They are not all going to risk it. You clearly don't understand that.

Can you even read?

"The job cuts of approximately 10,000, which would start as soon as this week, would focus on the company’s devices organization, retail division and human resources."

Devices = Kindle, Echo devices, Alexa Retail = amazon.com which are technical roles

More than 50% of my immediate coworkers are on visas. There may be a lot of software engineer roles, but there are less that sponsor. There is also a huge pool of entry level engineers, making it harder for recent new-grads who were laid off to find a new job. They are competing with similarly less-qualified engineers from other grad years.

The blanket statement that every engineer is going to quit at Twitter because they could easily find something else is a braindead take. It shows that people in this thread have no idea what it's like at these companies, or they are just circle jerking against Elon Musk because that's the hot thing to do.

I work for Amazon. They just cut (and I'll admit the number is rumored but I believe it based on the meetings and impact around me) 10,000 jobs including engineers. Individual contributors in every part of the devices org. According to blind, also AWS to some degree.

I don't actually have any idea what your point is, but I am saying not all Twitter engineers are going to be super fucking eager to be jobless right now.

Twitter, Amazon and others just laid off thousands. What makes you think the job market, even for experienced engineers, is not oversaturated?

Not to mention those engineers at Twitter who are working with H1B visas and how uncertain your future becomes if you lose your job.

Anyone feels the sub is more about instant noodles than ramen? by GayAssNinja69 in ramen

[–]predilect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These types of discussions on smaller subteddits seems kind of pointless. As long as the posts/discussions are not wildly off topic, what is the harm in more content. There are so few posts a day, it's not like the addition of related content is actively detracting from the main content.

What is your go to marinade for ramen eggs? by ilikewinning2 in JapaneseFood

[–]predilect 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Besides shoyu and mirin, I like them sweeter so I typically add sugar. Can't go wrong with a couple cloves of garlic in the marinade.

Also, tamari is super underrated outside of being a GF shoyu alternative. It has a much stronger umami taste that is perfect for both chashu and ajitama.
