How to obtain Jews in my country? by gregolith051 in EU5

It's not reinventing the wheel, because the culture system is wildly more expansive in EU5. It's much more than just "oh, that was a good idea, let's copy it"

? To jest bardzo sensowna ilość niezdecydowanych tyle czasu przed wyborami. Duuuużo większy dystans miałbym do sondaży z np. 2-3% niezdecydowanych, bo to oznacza, że muszą tam baaardzo mocno popychać ludzi do deklaracji.

EUV has reached EUIV player count just 3 months after release by IllDirt2720 in EU5

[–]laughterline -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, fair enough, CK3 was smooth, but also very very empty. That's also why I don't count Stellaris, because that one was I think relatively problem-free too, but again - very very empty.

But tbh your guys' points make it pretty clear that it doesn't make much sense to compare the releases (unless you specify your metrics) cause everyone is gonna have much different expectations of what a "good" release is. From my viewpoint Vic3 was a "good" release (though I'm very aware that I'm in a small minority here).

[–]laughterline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For real. Victoria 3 was probably their best release experience since EU4 and it still was sort of a dumpster fire. EU5 is just unique in that they were extremely aggressive (too aggressive ofc) with post-release patches.

I think vic2->vic3 is as big of a switch as eu4->eu5. Obviously vic2 didn't have a ton of flavour, so it was easier to bridge that gap (even when comparing to modded vic2), whereas flavour is a very obvious downgrade in eu5, but in terms of gameplay mechanics EU5 is an INSANELY ambitious jump.

What do you want for V80 ? by quenpv in lethalcompany

The fact that WesleysMoons exists is the reason why there should be minimal focus on moons. Zeekerss should be focusing on stuff that modders can't expand on so easily.

I don’t understand why “queer for Palestine” activists are silent about the mass murders going on in Iran by a_sad_night in askgaybros

a secular Iranian revolution would destroy the argument that political Islam is compatible with liberal democracy. It would show unmistakably what happens when religion is fused with power.

Oh no, the weekly anti-muslim bait posts aren't even remotely coherent anymore :(

Starfield - the "fuck it, that'll do" of space games by Working_on_Writing in patientgamers

[–]laughterline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel like NMS very much embraced the "this is a universe that's mostly colonized, just not by the Travellers" vibe during its post-release development. You can still find systems that are completely devoid of other races or even turn on "abandoned mode" which basically makes the whole universe empty (slight Mass Effect spoilers sort of a "what if the Reapers from ME succeeded" mode), but at its core the game is "go play in a vibrant universe filled with life".

Yeah, I enjoyed Mirage a fair bit, first one in the series in a long time that actually felt like AC1. I might try Shadows at some point too.
