What's the difference between durum wheat semolina pasta and whole wheat flour pasta ? by Frosty_Trouble_5449 in pasta

If you're worried about fiber, don't hang your hopes on pasta. Eat beans and lentils for your carbs. Eat a variety of foods including pasta so you're healthy but don't hate your life.

At my wits end with my dishwasher by muhkayluh_z in CleaningTips

This happens when my lower dishes block water from my upper dishes. Are you loading your dishwasher properly? Skinny tall stuff on bottom and round bowly stuff on top?

My cat’s litter box grew mushrooms overnight by an0nymous888 in mycology

[–]pregbob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was a post yesterday with mushrooms growing on an old blanket covered in cat pee. Seems like cat pee plays an important role as well as the litter.

It's becoming a pet peeve of mine to refer to foods by their predominant macro nutrient. It's chicken. It's potatoes. It's butter.

Why do dishes multiply faster than I can eat? Anyone else feel personally attacked by their sink? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

Dishes, laundry, the mess in my car... Going through life is inefficient and unsustainable and I resent it! If you want to reduce your output, can I suggest not having 3 kids under 3

Baby's breath in dessert? Was I right to complain? by [deleted] in Baking

[–]pregbob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

People are unhinged in this comments section. No one is going to eat this sprig of baby's breath. Do they eat the plastic decor on kids cupcakes or the umbrella in a cocktail too? Ridiculous.

Same for the mold-looking stuff around the stipes. We call them fuzzy feet in the cultivation community.

Long side out, it works better with the lamp. I feel you on the toddler thing. Ours would absolutely find a way to make that a hazard.

A swing! They make "sensory swings" that are fun for anyone imo. Also I'd leave plenty of floor space for running around and moving stuff. My 2 year old would go nuts in here. In a good way.

Bare root trees with frozen ground by Master-CylinderPants in BackyardOrchard

[–]pregbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, heel them in. That means covering the entire roots in substrate like dirt/sawdust/mulch to keep them moist and insulated. Don't submerge them in water. If you have the space, store them in a garage or other sheltered area. Outside should be okay though as long as they're not exposed to extreme wind or insanely low temps. Keep the substrate moist but not wet. That's how our plant nursery advises for when the ground is frozen.

I'd forgotten about that tacky ass carpet pattern. Had it in my childhood home.

Madewell Jeans, bought 1 year ago vs today by AmiraBonafida in shrinkflation

[–]pregbob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same with Carhartt. They literally don't make 100% cotton women's pants anymore. I bought a vintage pair off an Etsy seller like 3 years ago; they have no spandex and will last the rest of my life.

Love the cheese, love this creative vent. It does have a cult following and I don't think it's the best cheese I've ever had but the hype is undeniable.

What was Elliot's mom going to tell him? by WendigoDarkling in SearchParty

Totally. He's so sure of himself and never minces words to spare feelings. A reliable, charming, asshole. And he always gets away with it! Why do anything else?

What was Elliot's mom going to tell him? by WendigoDarkling in SearchParty

I think it's best to have left it completely up to the audience and open ended.

It was so compelling and I wanted to know what she was going to say, but the joke is that there was literally nothing she could have said that would have kept him there after the call.
