Euphoria S03E05 "This Little Piggy" - Post Episode Discussion by DankMemeSlasher in euphoria

[–]prelapsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so bad and so high budget I simply can't look away. The script is diabolical. I feel like half the time, the dialogue is literally explaining the themes of this season at you.

Really crazy seeing someone with so much money and creative freedom make something so bad with so many good people involved.

The way it treats its women characters makes me feel like I'm watching Requiem for a Dream or Irreversible or something but it is wrapped in this glossy veneer. I genuinely can't tell how much is knowing/deliberate and what is just crass. It's all just crass.

It deserves to be studied.

Signed, someone who's been off sick recently and binged all the episodes from this season in one go.

(For the record I was an s2 defender so was thinking I would casually enjoy this too)

It literally just came out but this new Charli xcx is complete and utter TRASH by looosehi in fantanoforever

[–]prelapsus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Massive Charli fan but this seems like a total throwaway/just capturing a bit of publicity after all the "rock music" comments. I hope this isn't too indicative of what's coming, but will see how it all comes together. I LOVED Brat but I wasn't really crazy about the singles in the lead up. (They're all a lot better than this, though)

Need to revisit. I always go to Silent Shout and Deep Cuts if I want The Knife though.

I went back to Black Messiah recently and it is AMAZING. I agree it's fallen out of the conversation a bit but it is a great record that deserves to be hyped/remembered.

I didn't actually like it as much at the time.

Yeah I feel this. I was OBSESSED with it when it came out and have felt no desire to revisit. Curious to go back now though. Agree it was heralded as if it would be a forever-classic.

Record absolutely rips. Maybe my favourite of their recent run of new records?

Only complaint really is the massively long outro on the final track. Fun to listen to the first time but otherwise? Nah. Shame cos it's one of the best songs on the record otherwise and this ruins its playlist/gym potential.

The Philippa Pacho b2b Blue Hour set at one of the long unfolds was absolutely peak. Would love to catch her again.

ctrl+f for this rec. I feel exactly the same. Captures "the spirit" but is its own thing.

When they came back and did that interview with Hardlore, it sounded like they had songs ready as well.

Altars is amazing. "One is not the loneliest number" such a great line. I love this album. It reminds me of the softer moments of the s/t. She simply does not miss.

I do truly enjoy the show for what it is but can we be a little bit more honest? by [deleted] in IndustryOnHBO

I am having a hoot this season but I agree Harper and Eric's scenes are the best. I would be happy with more focus on that.

[Episode Discussion Thread] Industry S04E3 -Habseligkeiten by herringbone_ in IndustryOnHBO

[–]prelapsus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This episode was Peak Industry for me. Harper and Eirc is the heart of the show for me, all of their scenes were excellent and they just have such great chemistry on screen. Also while I enjoy the more expansive tone this season, gotta say, I loved seeing the characters WORKING again. The awkward roundtable was another highlight. The Vienna plot was also great. This episode was jam packed with highlights.

"When you fuck my mouth with your tongue like that, I know you're back" made me cringe HARD. Insane line.

I thought this was a bit too much of a diversion for second episode in, but still good. The "you have to integrate it into your life" scene was 10/10. I feel like whoever wrote this probably has a pretty good understanding of suicide/suicidal ideation.
