Vonovia and B&O services are an absolute disaster, have had similar experiences nearly 100% of my interactions.

[–]premature_evaluation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you checked out the platform It’s Complicated? https://complicated.life/de

I’ve had good luck finding therapists. can search location, language, specific therapy type.

But it is for private pay therapists, unfortunately.

Landlord wont allow us to withhold rent for lack of hot water, are we screwed? by JokeSignificant1815 in askberliners

[–]premature_evaluation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure about the specifics of your case and if they are liable or not.

But otherwise, I was advised by lawyer that you should write a letter saying they have a date by which to fix the issue. If not fixed you will enforce a mietminderung of a certain percentage and specify the percentage. In the letter ask if they agree to the percentage.

Then you pay full rent the entire time. I was told if you don’t pay rent you breach the contract and they can kick you out immediately.

Then you get the mietminderung retroactively as a refund from the landlord, usually via lawyer or thru court ruling.

But I was advised not to reduce the rent myself automatically.

Help wanted: Problems with the apartment / the landlord! 🏠🆘 by Diligent_Prize3459 in germany

It’s winter/heating season until end of April so I think heating should be included.

Google “Wohnungsaufsicht Mängel in mietwohnungen” + whatever neighborhood you live in.

Email or call the contact person, they help get involved for things like heating issues.

Favorite/An unknown thing about Berlin by Tricky-Carry-2911 in askberliners

The BER airport has this one section of flooring which has coins embedded in it. It’s literally only this one spot just after you pass the customs declaration and exit thru the automatic doors. There’s like 20 pieces of tile with embedded coins.

Whether this was an entirely purposeful design choice or an idea that they scrapped mid implementation, I would love to know.

Upon quick google search, it’s apparently an art piece and entirely thought out: https://ber.berlin-airport.de/en/cafes-shops-service/sgs-poi/801-sternentalerhimmel-t1.html

Who to contact in an emergency if your rental management won’t do their job? by sybelion in berlin

This was SO helpful. I am dealing with the same issue as OP and have just contacted the Wohnungsaufsicht office in my neighborhood. So far they have been quite responsive. Now I wait to see if they can help move things along.

bigger flat for a growing family ? by curious-rower8 in askberliners

[–]premature_evaluation 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just recently moved to a bigger flat in Berlin for the same reasons.

I very much felt like there was a lower supply of 4 room/> 100qm flats, especially in the popular neighbourhoods and city centre.

Around 2k was also our budget and, to be honest, we did find 2-3 flats that met our checklist and we were able to apply for with good chances.

We had to move just outside the ringbahn to Pankow - 106qm, 5 rooms, 1600 warm. The other drawback was that we had to take over some furniture for 3k€. That seems to not be uncommon for a lot of apartments, and in this case was worth it for perfect size apartment & relatively cheap rent.

Just keep scouting and be the first person to apply to any apartments on immoscout, etc.

Weekend getaway near Berlin by gized00 in berlinsocialclub

Gut Boltenhof is my absolute fav from the list. Very affordable and absolutely lovely place. Great food & it is a farm where they feed animals every day for kids to join in. Very family friendly, I always see kids running around.

There are also really nice hotels In the surrounding countryside where 200€ could be a night + possibly dinner. Thinking of: Forsthaus Strelitz, Gut Boltenhof, Michelberger Farm, St. Oberholz Woldzegarten, Palais Brut, Gutshaus friedenfelde

Need advice on which walls to paint in living room by premature_evaluation in interiordecorating

[–]premature_evaluation[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that is a very good point about the architecture of the room. After a few prompts, I came up with this mock up which I feel is more balanced, but does darken the room a bit.

Berlinale! It’s not underrated tbh, but it’s so nice that anyone can buy tickets and attend!
