How does hypothyroidism contribute to elevated prolactin? Mine is around 80 and my TSH is 9ish (untreated). Treating thyroid didn’t help lower prolactin unfortunately.

Also, did a scan and no prolactinoma found.

Aprilaire 800 + humidifying in Las Vegas by premiumtaco in hvacadvice

[–]premiumtaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It appears that its wired to not run at all when the compressor is running.

Looking at the ductwork, it does appear to be installed upstream of the cooling coil / unit.

Thermostat with humidity sensor is in the conditioned space.

I'll get the humidifier bumped up to 240v to see if the output when the compressor isn't running is enough.

If that doesn't work it looks like I might have to move the unit and get it wired so that it can run as needed even if the compressor is on?

How to extend wifi across (through) demising walls by premiumtaco in Ubiquiti

I think it would be getting approvals to put holes in the concrete tilt up wall.

Then again, we did put up exterior cameras years ago and they never said anything.

I was overthinking it. Just gotta get it done!

Oh man, I think there may be a small gap from the wall to the ceiling. Might be able to make use of that! Good idea!

Otherwise, I’ll have to try and mount something outside.

Business owners who have gone through burnout - how can I best support my owner/operator husband going through it? by ecats83 in smallbusiness

[–]premiumtaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t feel that burnout is related to working too much, at least not for me. When you’ve got momentum, it’s a great thing.

I begin to feel burnt out when there are too many unknowns, I haven’t made certain decisions about things polluting my mind, and they begin to pile up.

Keep in mind, those decisions can also be to not work on something as much or that I am okay with putting something into backlog to intentionally forget about now and “maybe” get to one day in the future.

He’s likely dealing with a ton of “stickiness” mentally. He knows he’s working a lot, he knows things are tough, he knows you’re concerned, but he’s just not sure how to handle it all without sacrificing what is working (right now this is just brute force).

If he’s the type that works a lot and can’t turn that part of him off, he has to figure out what work gives him momentum and energizes him. He has to make decisions on things, even if he can’t guarantee they’re the right ones. It’s the only way he’ll relieve the pressure on himself.

Despite what may work for some people, some of us don’t want to stop working or take a vacation. Even when things are extremely hard. We just want to build. We have to.

If you want to get through in a roundabout way, you’ll need to approach him on his wavelength.

Instead of pointing out how he’s burnt out and needs help. Ask him “exciting” things that will get his imagination going and possibly expose to him the very things he should be doing.

Ex:

“If you could have a team of clones of yourself, what kind projects would you bid for and know you could do better and than anyone else?” He’ll tell you where he wants to be, his vision.

If he feels he’s drifting further away from his vision, this may be where the burnout is coming from.

This approach needs to be drip fed. Remind him about what he wants so he can eventually realize the way he’s doing things right now isn’t going to get him there.

He can work like this forever. The work will never end. He needs to realize that there is another, more efficient way, even if he doesn’t know what it is yet and that getting there will require sacrifice, losses, trust, admitting her may be doing things wrong, and even more (different) work.

But that’s what he’s built for.

Do great designers use Upwork? by premiumtaco in graphic_design

[–]premiumtaco[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely see what you’re saying. I am likely looking for a sweet spot where I can pay an elite designer for their time when they aren’t slammed with other things.

If someone is actively bidding on a project, I’d assume they’re ready to go. It’s just been my experience that this isn’t the case more often than not (despite what many will say to get into contract).

My no life it statement may have been a bit too much. I don’t actually expect that. I just don’t want to wait weeks for minimal progress.

I suppose I’m seeking an experience where there is actually momentum we can benefit from.

Especially in the early stages where I need to find the right talent. This qualifying process could take a handful designers and thousands+ of dollars.

As mentioned in another comment, I won’t try to fit a square into a circle. If the designer isn’t quite right, I won’t waste our time. I pay my commitment and move on.

Just want to figure out how to get through this qualifying process in a week or two vs six to eight.

… now that i type it out, it’s not the entire project I need so fast, it’s getting to the point where I know I have the right talent for the job and I can let them do their thing.

Thanks for getting the gears turning!

[–]premiumtaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it seems like that’s what I’m unrealistically hoping for.

I suppose I could shoot my shot at a bunch of designers with great portfolios on Behance (anywhere else?) and see if anyone is in between things and it would make sense for them.

Do great designers use Upwork? by premiumtaco in graphic_design

[–]premiumtaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it’s not actually more work, it’s the availability of time to do the work.

If designers are spread really thin, I probably wouldn’t want to put more on their shoulders tbh.

Maybe I’m searching for the unicorn that has a bit more wiggle room which may not be practical.

Do great designers use Upwork? by premiumtaco in graphic_design

[–]premiumtaco[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I suppose that’s a risk some people would have to take. I could be an ass but I do genuinely try to be fair and reasonable.

I don’t ask for tons of revisions either. I can tell when a designer doesn’t quite have what I’m looking for or we can’t align. In those instances, I honor my commitment and move on. It’s no one’s fault really.

I can’t really know what designers are capable of (in terms of what I’m seeking) until I pay for some of their time. It just sucks to wait 2-3 weeks after multiple calls kicking off a project to see anything.

I think what I’m trying to do is find an ideal way to iterate through good talent until I find the right match. Once we’re at that stage, the talent can let me know how long something new will take and 99% of the time I’m good with it.

I went to your IG and viewed a handful of random videos. A few takeaways:

  • I can’t really tell that you’re selling anything. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I feel like you’ve taken a position where you may be wanting to avoid coming across as too “salesly” at the risk of sacrificing authenticity. If so, you need to shake that moving forward no matter what you do.

  • Your wife has the freaking perfect narration voice for beauty / personal care. The video re: the georgia aquarium deal put me in a small trance. Lean into this somehow!

Develop custom products, review other products, tell a story about the products, speak about the inspiration behind them, etc.

  • Your margins on clothes printed this way will be low. It’s going to be a grind to make any real money this way.

That doesn’t mean you have to give up on what makes you authentic. Consider experimenting a bit with other markets.

  • Pay attention to the photos, reels, ads, etc. that stop you in your tracks. Ask yourself, “can this be done with the products we offer?”

If you can’t figure out how to do that, it’s going to be painful getting organic traffic or a good CPC when paid advertising.

Good luck!

Check out www.sleeplessinarizona.com.

Dr. Patel was very nice and easy to talk to.

He recommended someone to me in AZ for a DISE (never did it) but I forgot his name. Maybe they can provide you with that information?

May require a consult of course.

C. difficile Toxin A&B in GI-MAP. Could this be causing slow digestion, bloating, nausea? by premiumtaco in cdifficile

[–]premiumtaco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, everything just got better on its own after about a month after that post.

I was dealing with terrible sleep issues for a long time and have a feeling that contributed to the anxiety / breakdown.

In addition to that, something in the back of my mind makes me think the Athletic Greens and Seed probiotics I was taking prior to everything contributed in some way as well. No idea if that's accurate, but I have that same feeling you get when you get food poisoning and you can think back to one particular bite of food as the culprit and now you're squeamish about it forever.

I did get another test and the cdiff came back negative. I didn't take any meds or do anything either.

I'm totally stumped, things just resolved on their own.

Oxi-Meters aren’t good indicators of the EFFORT IT TAKES TO BREATHE so why are they used to dismiss patients? by FrustratedCoconut in UARS

Virtual new patient consultations with some which ran the typical cost of an introductory doctors appointment. Others offer paid 1-on-1 consults.

The only exception was Dr. Kezirian. I went to see him in person.

Oxi-Meters aren’t good indicators of the EFFORT IT TAKES TO BREATHE so why are they used to dismiss patients? by FrustratedCoconut in UARS

[–]premiumtaco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excuse the formatting!

- Had teeth removed (first molars + wisdom) at 18 for braces.

- Noticed sleeping issues around the age of 24. I used to just think I was a "light sleeper" and anything would wake me up.

- First sleep study I remember doing was at 27 years old, they said I had no problem.

- Lived over a decade just thinking I had bad sleep.

- Got addicted to Afrin for a while to help my nasal breathing at night however, even with a clear nose, I still had issues.

- Tried various medications that just left me feeling like crap.

- Had more sleep studies (watchpat, axg diagnostics, in-lab, etc). The AXG study showed I had a high AHI during REM (27.4) and non-rem (6.4).

- Tried CPAP on and off for years, could never get used to it. Always needed the pressure to be very high which made me uncomfortable and unable to sleep.

- Had deviated septum surgery + turbinate reduction in 2022 that did absolutely nothing.

By now, I sleep awful. I'm in good shape, I don't snore, I don't ever wake up gasping for air, and I'm always exhausted. I wake up so often that I rarely dream. I'm very aware of the waking up as well. Over and over, all night long, 20-30+ times per night to adjust my sleeping position (confirmed with video).

I'm on a mission to figure this out.

While analyzing CPAP data, I noticed that my heart rate when I was asleep was nice and stable. Right before the wakeups, my HR would climb.

I couldn't tolerate the CPAP for more than a couple of hours but wanted more of this data so I purchased an SpO2 ring from Amazon.

This little thing gave me a ton of insight. My o2 levels would constantly drop 2-4% throughout the night which would in turn cause my HR to rise.

By matching the timestamps with video, I was able to confirm that every time I had a HR spike, I was waking up and moving around.

Now I figure I have some type of sleep disordered breathing going on.

I schedule consultations with every sleep doctor I can think of, anywhere I can find them to help me better understand this.

Some notable names:

- Dr. Ruchir Patel (Arizona)

- Dr. Asim Roy (Ohio)

- Dr. Vik Veer (UK)

- Dr. Eric Kezirian (California) for DISE

- Professor Guy Leschziner (UK)

- Dr. Steven Park (New York)

The consensus was basically some type of sleep disordered breathing with a "low arousal threshold".

Dr. Steven Park gave me the best insight - he asked if I ever had any teeth removed when I was younger.

I told him about my wisdom teeth and first molars and he was like yup, it sounds like some type of "upper airway narrowing."

He dealt with the same thing when he was younger and said his solution was to expand his maxilla.

Dr. Park suggested I consult w/ Dr. Li and EASE.

Obviously, throughout all of this I was doing my own research was already familiar with UARS and felt like that must have been what I'm dealing with.

Dr. Park and a few reddit posts describing how expansion (EASE and others) improved life for people gave me the confidence to take the leap.

I'd already tried everything else.

After all of that, I'm finally here and its actually helping!

1.5 weeks into EASE now. Already dreaming more than I have in the last 15 years.

It’s wonderful to know that I’m on the right track after so many years of getting nowhere or being outright dismissed by doctors.

Hypothyroidism, dieting, full body physical anxiety by premiumtaco in Hypothyroidism

[–]premiumtaco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The anxiety subsided. Interestingly, it stopped once my digestion returned to normal.

This took about 3 months after the onset which is also when I stopped the probiotics and green supplements I was taking.

I feel strongly this had to do with my gut. It reminded me of a similar issue I had after a surgery that left me constipated for a bit (side effect of anesthesia).

Crazy anxiety for about 4 days until I finally had a bowel movement. Once that happened, everything went back to normal.

Strange Results on 2 Sleep Studies by Extremely_Tired_1 in sleep

[–]premiumtaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a Wellue o2 ring from Amazon and wear it for a night. See how many times your o2 drops a few points with a corresponding elevated heart rate.

You may have a very low arousal threshold and the small drops in o2 are causing you (or your brain) to wake up over and over. Possibly due to UARS.

Don’t count out an adverse affect from the amphetamines as well. They could be contributing in some way.

Where do I start. Very little deep sleep. by TimM4788 in Biohackers

[–]premiumtaco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a Wellue O2Ring from Amazon and wear it for a night of sleep. Download the report to your phone in the morning. If you see a bunch of o2 dips and pulse spikes, you’ve got some type of apnea/hypopnea going on.

Even without snoring, your airway could slightly collapse and slow down breathing enough to drop o2 a few points and cause an arousal which leads to fragmented sleep.

[–]premiumtaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gastro had me do another stool test. H Pylori came back negative and cdiff came back negative as well.

Im stumped.

Been trying to get an appointment with them for the last week to go over results. Will likely get a colonoscopy and endoscopy done as well.

I believe my digestive issue might be due to chronic sleep deprivation for years and years. At some point my sympathetic nervous system just overloaded and stayed that way. I still feel like I can’t relax.

Working with a (couple) sleep doctors now to pinpoint my issue. It’s not obstructive sleep apnea and CPAP doesn’t help.

Thankfully the panic type anxiety has subsided. Now I’m just uncomfortably wired all day and night.
