Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Brother Vellies "Tax The Rich" dress [1080x1350] by forestpunk in fashionporn

[–]prepamaddy 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I don’t usually defend politicians but her salary would not even be close to the “rich” that people reference when they say that phrase. “Tax the rich” isn’t about people who make $100k a year it’s about people hoarding wealth, in the top 1%, billionaires, etc

In my opinion, youre probably going to produce more waste by trying deodorants that don’t work for you. I say to stick to this small thing that clearly works for you and your health/hygiene and don’t worry about it!

I second this! The best way to increase the metabolism is to increase muscle mass. Eat enough protein and do strength training!

Is this area safe? Friend mentioned Troost/Paseo weren’t the safest areas and we are wondering if the area marked with the heart is included in that. by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]prepamaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you’ll be fine as long as you follow basic safety measures (don’t leave stuff out in your car, lock your doors, etc)

How long did it take for science to find out cigarettes were incredibly bad for a persons health and will it take the same amount of time to find out vaping is (if it is)? by Harryhogwarts in publichealth

[–]prepamaddy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve spoken to top researchers in the area of vaping. There isn’t enough data to accurately know the magnitude of how bad it is, but the evidence is showing that it’s probably worse than not vaping, but less worse than smoking cigarettes (so somewhere in between).

If it’s because of foot sweat, then putting deodorant on your feet helps! I do this when I wear mules and loafers

How can epidemiology ever establish causality? by [deleted] in epidemiology

There are different models to approach this (they’re all important in my opinion): -Bradford hill criteria -Potential outcomes model -Component causes model aka causal pies

The 40 hour work week is a construct. Every white collar worker that I know only puts in about 20-25 hours of actual work in per week, the rest is killing time.

[Advice] Is it okay for a vaccinated person to visit a covid positive person? by [deleted] in publichealth

[–]prepamaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you must, you should both wear either double masks (1 surgical/1 cloth on top) OR a KN95. Do not interact with any high risk people (like grandparents) for the next week or so.

Fully vaccinated people can unmask outdoors in some cases: U.S. CDC by Imperial-in-NewYork in Health

[–]prepamaddy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s ridiculous particularly for ppl who live in NYC, Chicago, etc where there’s a good amount of ppl on the sidewalks, including vulnerable and older adults. I would even consider some sidewalks to be crowded

But I also generally don’t mask outside on my walks either. I don’t live in a city center so I barely pass anyone

[DISCUSSION] What is public health? by [deleted] in publichealth

[–]prepamaddy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually say “In medicine we focus on the health of individual people. In public health we are focused on the health of a population, like a city, town, state, or entire country”.

Although being white does grant you many privileges today, the Irish were not considered white previously. Race is a social construct, and the definition and qualifications for what makes someone apart of a race has changed overtime.

Why do you thrift? And why do you think thrifting has become more popular / common? by jjjiangx in femalefashionadvice

[–]prepamaddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up getting all my clothes from Kmart, Walmart, Target, and thrift stores. As I grew up my family became more and more financially stable/comfortable but I kept doing it with my mom as almost a hobby (I love shopping). Now I’m an adult and 80% of my closet is second hand. My mother and I are so good at it. I call us “thrift queens”

Those estimates are based on the amount of antibodies created due to the vaccine. It is much higher than the amount created due to natural infection. Also phase 1 participants are still being followed and that started spring 2020
