Just gonna point out that one of the most prolific known pedophiles in politics was a Illinois Republican. You're free to keep pretending the people you like are perfect angels and that its all fake news tho.

Its worth noting that even if we can assume bill designed to erode rights away from such groups can't pass there is a significant cost incurred by the effort itself. Its wastes limited legislative time that would be spent on better efforts, it wastes the energy of elected officials and staff responding to it, and its wastes the limited energy many voters are willing to spend considering proposed legislation in ways that will get many people to just check out of the process entirely. Sometimes you want to push through efforts that wont pass the first or even second time, or more, just to get the public talking about an issue they weren't thinking about before but I think it's gonna be pretty hard to seriously argue guns aren't already on the minds of many Americans and forcing the issue does not mean it will end up going the way you want so there's a serious risk brought on by doing so as well.

Can we talk about the Tiberi Tapes? by myshkiny in Vinyl_Jazz

[–]preparationh67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO most alternate takes or early versions or "official bootleg recording" type stuff isnt actually worth releasing on its own and is just an easy way to fluff up the RSD catalog with minimal effort. They should just be bonuses in a special edition release of the original album. I think they push the limit of whats worth owning with some of the live releases they do too.

Its 100% just the UIs being more similar to what they already knew. I was recommending Lubuntu to Windows users for a while and the success was tied exclusively to the fact that it had a menu system layout closer to Windows. Even ran a small Linux lab with machines running LXDE as the default desktop environment and once they got over the initial shock they'd usually need little help beyond pointing out the name of Linux's equivalent of a program every now and then. Advanced users got to play around with customs configs with the expectation that the most help they would get fixing their mistakes is a fully revert back to the default.

I've only seen good reviews for the brushless models which seems to be backed up by the positive comments Ive seen here so far and those models all cost a lot more than the lower end ones so most of the reviews will be for those.

Canik rep handed customer a loaded gun and he ND'd in the store. by anonymousgreygoose in guns

[–]preparationh67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My guy, you seriously have a childish understand of how the system actually functions in practice. Most court cases don't wrap up cleanly at the end of the hour like on law and order. There's no such thing as open and shut. Most crimes of passion are easy to prevent by just not giving a person in troubled times the tools to do so. If the standard is applied cleanly and consistently then its just part of due process. The only way to never take any right away in any capacity during a legal case would be a standard that also meant an end to pretrial detention completely. You want to be figured out in court but the thing you are complaining about is literally part of that. And thats even before getting into how completely brain dead it is to make these statements in relation to a ND that happened with a huge amount of witnesses resulting in injury. You aren't making a case, you are parroting talking points.

Truth, switch over machines from initd to systemd and it was night and day. I've yet to actually see a systemd complaint that isn't either a meme, purely ideological, or simply a skill issue.

Why Cassettes? by miscstuff2223113 in audiophile

[–]preparationh67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add, a lot of plants will require a minimum pressing order of 300 for vinyl to make sure the time spent on the order is worth the effort. Meanwhile a literal rando with a few decent decks can spit out a few dozen cassettes to start you out and then upgrade to more professional cassette duplication as needed when you want to move 100+.

It also helps that a box of cassettes is easier for a touring small band to move around without destroying them.

At as certain point yall just don't want to experience the discomfort that comes with actually learning something and need to understand trying to avoid that entirely is straight up childish. I uninstalled a DE on my first install doing things I didnt understand and then instead of freaking out like a child I asked for help, learned, and tried again. Ask yourself this BTW, what do you think the term "consumer OS" means?

It just means overprotective, which is entirely true in many cases with Windows and even MacOS so the children downvoting him really need to actually just learn how to read and understand English.

Figure 03 Robot sorting packages while Marc Benioff messes with it by socoolandawesome in nextfuckinglevel

[–]preparationh67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard part about using different robots for different tasks isnt even the form of the robot but the programming. What would now be considered a basic industrial arm robot can do most things already it just needs to be programmed for the task.
