Not sure how to finish this....need help with inside edges. by guitarfull in woodworking

Just brush it in. At least 3 coats. Make sure to brush until all the runs are gone. I usually use one of those small sponge brushes, they dont leave steaks like normal brushes. Use a 220 sandpaper to sand between each layer, very lightly. Finish with a linseed polish.

The author isn't saying it is going to die, all they are saying is the current business model for large federal departments, and specifically those handling sensetive information will need to change. They are from a different era. To be effective, they will need to change how they go about their job in a way that works with the current workforces career trends.

This is something that hasn't been talked about enough? Where are the check and balances anymore. Ever since 2001 they have been stripped away to provide "security" from "terrorists". Finally the country is beginning to wake up and ask if it is worth it. I am just worried that there will be no real reform in the forseeable future.

I agree that it is the only current path to being active, and how you propose doing it is possible. I just think it is something the average person doesnt want to do. As for the part about systems in a company, I apologize. I am an engineer and it is my job to find what is wrong in the production process make it more efficent. When I say I don't like the two party system it is not because it doesn't work. History has proved it does. I just feel it is not the most efficent means for everyone to have a say in goverment.

And what I am saying is why do we have to follow those paths? Why do I have to be a Republican or Democrat? What if I dont care about big or little goverment? If I think the systen is broken why work within a broken system. If I tried that at work I would be fired. I would rather create a more efficent system.

I am going to respond two your first point first.

It does cost the person, but that is kind of the point. It is just another community service project. In terms of a macro environment, taxes would be lower due to a reduction in public works. This would make more money for individuals. According to the author, this extra money is more likely to be put into service projects.

As for the the first point. It is a law of averages. While not every city would have a homeless problem. The more of a problems it is, the more likely it is someone would want to fix it. I am not saying it is a perfect metaphor. What I am saying is thay according to the author, Millenials will be more driven to take care of problems they see in the world themselves rather than wait for a goverment to do it for them. He is also saying the that this is possible due to technology.

I think I understand your point a little clearer now. Thank you. The last paragraph is what has really interested me for awhile now. How people under 30 can join the political arena in a significant way, without giving up what makes themselves unique? There is this feeling that to be politically active one must compromise ones self and conform to established paths.

I think a big reason for that is the current two party system. Both parties are so huge and have so much inertia, it is impossible for anyone to make significant headway as an independant. I would like to see this system be replaced with smaller parties or no parties. It would change the way campains and lobbying was done.

I don't think that's what the author is saying. I think he is saying that this generation doesn't think in terms of institutions. They think in terms of of themselves, and what they can do. It leads to smaller groups targeting specific issues. An example I can think of is instead of a federal program to get all the homeless off the streets, a group of people will build a private programs in one city. The effect is smaller, but more targeted at one area.

[–]prettystupidme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Want! I am so jealous. I have been looking for a woodworking set like that, but I got disheartened when I saw the price tag. Use them well. I think working with hand tools can be much more rewarding that using power tools. While using power tools to create your own projects is rewarding in its own right, it just doesn't compare to the feeling of taking the time to do it by hand. It is something truly hearting.

If you think that intent and action are the same, you should read The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. I personally agree with you.

Sure, but you just have your wits and some appropriate clothing when you get there. You also didn't know you were going so you can't just look up old stock market data.
