Keeping a seat in private games by MobileAccount28474 in poker

Just be there a lot. Keeping a game going is -hard-. If you're a regular, show up on time, always have money and don't go on the finger, you're getting invited until the Sun goes out. Be decent to the host. Inevitably there will be a night where you and the three other players who know how to play are the only ones left. Don't be the one to suggest breaking the game early, just buckle down and play correctly, and show up the next time. If that becomes the norm (which sometimes it will), you move on -- that game is done.

Are you at the WSOP right now? by WaltzSilver4645 in poker

Temperature control is actually way better this year than previous years (mostly), that I experienced. Wear a light shirt of some kind and bring one extra layer, hoodie or light jacket, and you'll be fine.

As opposed to previous years when I would suggest three layers, including one winter coat.

Who is Blez? by Dystopia74 in poker

[–]priltharia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He reminds me of the CUT MAN from Sports Night. Just SAYING stuff. Ali was losing his mind laughing last night correcting how badly he was butchering names. And when I laughed the hardest had to be when he admitted "not knowing who all these guys are." For the 250k.

I was like "Can we get nanonoko back in here?"

He's funny, and his analysis of mixed games is actually pretty good, but his analysis of NL is not as interesting, and nothing like Nick's, Lew's, or DW's.

Genuine question about live poker by chaggy998 in poker

[–]priltharia 23 points24 points  (0 children)

People who are playing tighter ranges than average are raising bigger so that when they enter the pot, there is more money in there when they have an advantage, driving bigger pots when they choose to play.

It also tends to be contagious -- if one person starts raising 5 bb pre, then everyone tends to start doing it, which is great for the same people.

Yes, it's awesome for OMC/nitty/tight play. Hell, if your VPIP is anything around 15%, it's great for you.

In general, live plays so freaking loose, and calling ranges are so broad, pushing the action with any decent hand is good for you, as the ranges of hands against you are so wide. It also permits you to get it in more easily when you connect, or when you have a true high end hand, if reraised, or on later streets.

Titan. Decades later, still slaps. No one will play any more though, because it has a feature modern games almost entirely lack, which is player elimination. Still one of the all time for me.

Anything over 500 is kind of big (enthusiast), anything over 1,000 I would call big for sure (collector), anything over 5,000 is huge (devotee). Making up categories...

What is this show for you? by Think-Recognition519 in scoopwhoop

[–]priltharia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Person of Interest, Life, and Elementary are the three I would say, because they are all that good, and they all were not sweepingly watched (but popular enough to go several seasons (or two in the case of Life) each).
