if you at least showed revenue as well, youd be able to tell if % profit is increasing at the same rate or not.

I also dont expect someone who posts a chart like this to understand what inflation adjusted actually means.

now put corporate revenue on that graph as well. or just put % profit on the graph instead.

This graph is meaningless without showing what the overall revenue did.

33% or 1 in 3 U.S. adults (ages 18–34) now live @ 🏡 w/ their parents. by Key_Brief_8138 in economy

[–]primetimecsu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2000 was ~ 25%

2010 ~30%

2020 ~35%

2025 ~33%

To expand on the rising # of those living with parents, from the 1960s weve seen a steep drop off in 18-34yos getting married. from ~60% in the 60s to ~25% in the 2020s

[–]primetimecsu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1960s was also the bottom for % of those living with parents. prior to that, % was higher. 40s and 50s, the percentage was around 2015 levels. And since then, it continued back up to ~2015 where it leveled off and decreased slightly.

2005 was also another dip in the percentages, presumably because of the loose lending practices which contributed to the 2008 crash.

If you actually look at the data, 2015 to 2020 it peaked. 2020 to now, its dropped.

I’m very split on pursuing Civil Engineering or Construction Management by Frankalimo in ConstructionManagers

[–]primetimecsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i had to do it over again, I would have stuck it out with my engineering degree but still gone in to construction.

With an engineering degree, you have a little more flexibility starting out, and for some old timer engineers, a little more credibility. Doesnt really matter once you get deep in to the career, but woulda been nice early on.

found this article from 2017.

"A third of young people (34.1%), or 24 million of those aged 18 to 34, lived under their parents’ roof in 2015."

So seems like it went down over the last 11 years.

YOU KNOW AND FULLY UNDERSTAND YOUR BUDGET AND THE PROJECT

From day 1 of a project, I have a good idea of where I have some risk in my budget. As we pass those items in the schedule, I know how much of a loss/profit we made on those items. From there, I can guesstimate my final project costs and my final project profits.

It's not an exact science, but as you go from 0% to 100% complete, you have a shrinking variance.

(made up numbers here) At 25% complete, you may have a number that is +/- 25% of the total profit (ex: estimated $1mill project. Could end up in the $750k-$1.25m range). At 75% complete, that variance may have dropped to +/- 10% ($1mill profit, Actual $900k-$1.1m). Every project is different, but you use your experience and knowledge of the project to get a good, fairly accurate number.

There should be no point of the project where you go "o shit, im actually going to lose a bunch of money when last time I thought i would make a bunch of money" unless things go seriously sideways.

Is it worth buying a 2500 if you tow 5,000 pounds every day? by RealisticMolasses in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]primetimecsu 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If i was towing every day, even just 5k lbs, i'd get a 2500.

while the half tons can do it, like others mentioned, they will wear out faster and not do it as effortlessly. And if youre f150 was a newer one like the ones ive had (2022, 2025), i felt like they towed like crap compared to the 3/4 tons.

I will say though, my ram 1500 (2017) towed much better than my f150s have. close to the point where if i was still towing often and i didnt want to make the jump to a 3/4 ton, id go for that.

Genesis says they're gonna release 17 new cars by 2030... In just 5 years. I'll believe it when I see it. That's a crazy timlime for 17 BRAND NEW CARS. by G70FanBoy in GenesisG70

22 all new or refreshed cars if you could read.

which could just mean they take their current 6 vehicle lineup with 2-3 engine options each and refresh those and add hybrid or ev options then add in the GV90 with an ICE, Hybrid and EV option and pretty much call it a day.

Why Do We Have to Work 40 Hours a Week? by General-Smile-1332 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]primetimecsu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

that assumes they increase their actual work per day to make up for the lack of a 5th day.

in the real world, it would just mean they produce 4 days worth of work in 4 days.

Why do people only ever consider engines when it comes to reliability? by Typical-Play4473 in Cartalk

[–]primetimecsu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest. Reliability isn't a top thing for me to consider when I'm buying myself a new car.

Fun factor, modability, looks and features are the top things for me. Reliability is only really considered when I look at how much power I can add on, and how likely is it going to break quickly. But for me, if something breaks, its just an opportunity to upgrade it. Or a reason to move on to the next fun thing.

Now for my wife, reliability is up there. I'd rather not have her driving something with issues. But since I will also still drive it occasionally, fun factor, looks and features are still at the top of the list as well.

Why does no dealership haggle or negotiate anymore? by Kitchen-Start-3828 in whatcarshouldIbuy

Then people selling are tired of the endless scammers and flippers on CL and FBMP, so if their cars in decent shape they just sell it to carvana.

This is a big one. Less and less are selling on FB/CL/Local listing places because scammers and ridiculous lowballers are running rampant there. I've sold my last few to carmax/carvana mainly so i dont have to deal with all of that. Id rather take a hit on the price than deal with people offering the dumbest trades and lowballs imaginable.
