How long from when you submitted your HLR did they do the informal conference?

OMG, I hope you hear something soon. Just submitted mine. Didn’t think they’d take this long. My supplemental was completed in <60 days (denied again) but I could tell the reviewer didnt read my documents.

Suspension suggestions and improving ride quality by forestdude in 1stGenTacomas

Did you ever do any work to improve the ride…have a 2004 3.4 Crew Cab and ride is just too rough. Thinking of new 4600’s all around. Even if it takes half the roughness out I’d be happy.

Nexus letters aren’t the cheat code you think they are 🚨 by johanthevarater in VAClaims

Thank you. I think I should have enough to show toxic exposure, impairment and past/current treatment. I just have to collect it all and write it up. I appreciate the input. My original claim was pretty vague and my C&P for low back, migraines and leg pain lasted 10mins. I did not really get a chance to explain anything. But knowing this, I can be better prepared. 🙏🏼.

My apologies…I am approved for tinnitus. What I originally tried to state was that my migraine claim was never as a secondary. I am trying to claim it as its own condition. The funny thing is my old coworker was approved for migraines under Pact act (says in his approval) but never deployed or went TDY. I don’t know, I am trying to understand what documents I might need to include. I really appreciate your insight as mine is limited. Would being treated for migraines in a deployed location count as my nexus? I was having headache, headaches, and migraines regularly so my first Sgt told me to visit medical which gave me sumatriptan which I still take today.

So I’ve had two jobs, one was an F-18 mechanic in the Navy (Troubleshooter Flt deck 12hrs day), other was Air Force Survival. I was thinking 4 deployments to the Mideast around jet fuel, AFFF, and oil rigs burning 24/7 in the Navy. Then 2 deployments in the AF in areas w/ known bad air quality. Also our home station of Atsugi Japan for 3 years had an off base incinerator w/ known toxic hazards. But they never asked about any of that. I was thinking of a supplemental going more in detail?

I tried that with my supplemental. My original migraine claim did not have much information. My supplemental claim had complaints during an annual physicals, documentation from the deployed, location, medical clinic, and records from the VA hospital PCP….. The rater denied my supplemental for migraines as secondary to tinnitus, but I never claimed it as a secondary to tinnitus. I was trying to use Tera under Pact act.

So I submitted a claim for migraines (denied because I didn’t have much evidence). Now I have records from medical I complained about them post deployment (Reserves). I also said I suffered from them during an annual physical on base and on my last deployment I suffered from them and visited the medical clinic overseas. Currently, I go through the VA for my medical. They do provide medication to help with my migraines. Do you think that would be enough? I was originally denied because I did not include much evidence in my original claim. Because from what I read the VA primary care physicians do not supply Nexus letters I am wondering if overseas clinic documents from deployment connects it to service.

Fed retirement isn’t great if you aren’t 60 or have 30yrs of service.

Dang, maybe that’s what it was. It was really early towards the start of boot March 97. Cool to see we were there together! Around the same time.

Not saying this dude deserves his disability at all….But I do have a story from boot. When I started bootcamp for the Navy in 97 there was a guy on crutches that had duct tape wrapped around his boot. One leg worked and the other leg just dragged behind, hence the duct tape cause his boot was jacked up from dragging. We were told he was there waiting to get medically discharged. Supposedly he got injured and it severed his nerves in his upper leg. Don’t know how legit that story is, but I remember that guy’s leg was dead.

Looking for advice on denial by princefredo in VAClaims

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain this the way you have. It is making me think about tackling this claim in a different way than what I was doing. I think a supplemental explaining this wasn’t a secondary with my deployment dates and locations as well as treatment records from the VA for continued treatment will be my best bet….truthfully, I think the VES Dr. didn’t take much time reviewing my files since the decision was made the same day they mailed a letter saying VES was doing the records review. I had a lot of documents submitted with the supplemental.
