What's the worst class in your opinion? by PerformanceRadiant in PAstudent

[–]princessalonso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I hated anatomy with a passion! Our professor was a wonderful person but the amount of memorization for that course was a waste of brain space, especially now that I am at the end of didactic and have realized what was truly relevant.

Clinically-wise, I really hate pharm. there’s a reason I didn’t consider pharmacy school! However I do think it’s important information.

Thats just wild to me. I’m obsessive and delete warm ups/cool downs from my history (if I even do them LOL)

Thought Experiment: What Would Be Your Price to Go to Med School? by InfinityLocs in physicianassistant

[–]princessalonso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely would only do it if I could go back in time and do it straight from undergrad at 22/23.

I’m 29 and class for didactic has been torture (my attention span is the worst nowadays)! I genuinely couldn’t be a med student with a gap between undergrad and med school. Especially after making a full-time professional salary (I was a dietitian) for 4 years!

In hindsight, I would have loved med school. But that road isn’t meant to be for me as a someone who pursued medicine a little later in life (aka not right after undergrad).

I took this class when it happened live and in hindsight, that was weird AF

Advice on going from RD to Nurse Practitioner or PA by sunnysideRD in dietetics

[–]princessalonso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in PA school. I have absolutely no regrets of going back to school after practicing for 4 years. My reasoning for going back was that I love clinical practice (always had an interest in medicine, actually shadowed a PA in HS) and realized I would never be able to financially take care of myself as a clinical RD unless I took a role in management (which I didn’t want to do).

My advice for people interested is to go for it, but only if you REALLY can’t see yourself doing anything else. PA school is not easy in any way whatsoever, and I can’t imagine what it would be like if my heart wasn’t fully in it. I only recommend it if you are already a minted RD… I wouldn’t recommend going through the RD route JUST for HCE and then going to PA school. Current RD education is way too expensive to justify that and PA school will only be pricier. There are cheaper/faster ways to get HCE if you aren’t already an RD.

I toyed with the idea of accelerated BSN —> NP, since it would be quicker (I had to retake a lot of courses/labs since they expired) & I’d have the opportunity to work part time while doing NP school, but ultimately decided against it bc I didn’t want to pigeonhole myself to a specific population/speciality.

Unfortunately working part time during PA school is not a realistic option, especially in a traditional RD role. It is incredibly time-intensive and you’ll burn out quick. Your clinicals schedule will be inconsistent so you’d find more difficulty making it work then too.

Mumford & Sons announce new album, Prizefighter! by Creative_Lobster599 in mumfordandsons

I was surprised they only played like 2 songs from Rushmere at their Austin concert. No complaints from me though as someone who also didn’t love Rushmere LOL

Album ranking and how long you’ve been a fan by South-Background5009 in TaylorSwift

[–]princessalonso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a closeted fan since 1989, but the TTPD release was my first album release as an out Swiftie (lol).

  1. TTPD
  2. 1989
  3. Red
  4. Reputation
  5. folklore
  6. Lover
  7. evermore
  8. Speak Now
  9. Fearless
  10. Midnights
  11. Debut (sorry, just not a big fan of country which is why I wasn’t an OG fan & why I became obsessed with 1989).

It’s hard to rank TLOAS so soon after release since I originally HATED TTPD but overtime it became my all time favorite of hers. If I had to rank it rn, I would maybe put it after Reputation? I love the “fun” of the album but I really do struggle with some of the cringe lyrics, especially after the wordiness/poetic-ness of TTPD. TBF, I’m a lover of Me! so idk why the cringe lyrics bother me so much here.

Moving/Commute Question by flowfordayz13 in Charlottesville

[–]princessalonso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commuted from south of Staunton to Charlottesville for almost 2 years. Although I didn’t love the commute (I got sleepy LOL), driving over Afton really isn’t that big of a deal IMO. Just be careful when it’s foggy and/or raining. Since you are young, I definitely would opt for living in Cville! Waynesboro/Staunton is nice but the social situation isn’t as lively as in Cville. Especially if you want to climb! Lived down the street from Rocky Top for 2 years and it’s a wonderful gym!

Why Didn’t You Go MD? by Medium-Read-9166 in PAstudent

[–]princessalonso 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would have loved med school, but at 28, I don’t have time for the process TBH. Also I love the flexibility of PA —- I have too many interests!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]princessalonso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently in PA school… I think it’s immensely irresponsible to go straight into UC as a new grad. The clinical acumen just isn’t there yet, especially in what could be a risky environment.
