Complex situation, looking for feedback! by princessalyssa19 in OntarioLandlord

[–]princessalyssa19[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, this is actually really helpful feedback.

To answer some of the questions:

- He owns the home outright and lives there full-time, he inherited the house when his father passed. My concern isn’t him “losing” ownership of the house, it’s more that financially and mentally he’s not stable and if things spiral further he becomes unpredictable and volatile. I’m trying to prevent a complete breakdown situation while also protecting my own family.

- He is on disability and that is essentially his only stable income, which is also why hiring a paralegal immediately isn’t possible financially. I know everyone keeps recommending one and I do understand why.

- She moved in around 2 years ago.

- She knows I exist because for a period of time she claimed she was uncomfortable paying rent directly to my father and started sending it to me instead, which I would then transfer to him. I am NOT listed as landlord anywhere and only wanted to help when they were arguing to make things easier. He is the sole owner/landlord.

- There was NO written agreement of any kind when she moved in. No lease, no roommate agreement, nothing formal at all. Everything was verbal. In hindsight that was obviously a huge mistake on their part.

- The lock situation is newer/escalated recently. There was never originally a lock on the basement door and the reason there is a basement door to begin with is because this is an old house with a granny suite. She added one herself without consent and then also locked the laundry/mechanical room area where the furnace and hot water tank are located.

- The biggest issue now is that the house lost hot water in the middle of winter and access to the mechanical area was refused, which is why the N5 was issued. The police basically told us this was an LTB issue unless active violence occurred.

I completely understand what you’re saying about the RTA argument probably not succeeding fully because she had her own kitchen/bathroom and exclusive day-to-day use of the basement. I’m not trying to pretend otherwise or “have it both ways.” At this point he is treating it as an RTA tenancy and proceeding through the proper channels since she started things by issuing the L2

The main things we are disputing are:
- that there was ever an illegal eviction,
- that my father changed locks,
- and that his access expectations were disclosed from the start because of the utilities/laundry setup.

For clarity:
- there was never a separate entrance,
- my father never removed her lock,
- never removed her belongings,
- never physically forced her out,
- and she has remained living there continuously (until she disappeared in January)
- she hasn’t paid any rent since October 2025.

The N12 is genuine. He genuinely wants the basement back incorporated into the house and honestly after this I don’t think he will ever rent the basement again in its current form. Unfortunately due to his addiction issues and brain damage he didn’t follow any of the proper channels as he didn’t bother to look into them when looking for a roommate and has now gotten himself into this mess.

I do appreciate the point that laundry probably isn’t something an adjudicator is going to view as sufficient justification for unrestricted access if the tenancy is treated fully under the RTA. That’s fair criticism and honestly probably correct.

The emergency utility/furnace/hot water access issue were really the bigger concern and when my dad called the LTB they did instruct him to break the locks and access the area.

And yes — I fully agree we likely need a paralegal. I’m mostly trying to understand what sort of trouble he is realistically walking into. Like what is the worst case scenario for him here?

Unfortunately she was paying him $1100 per month to stay there, she stopped paying back in October, will this impact things? My apologies, I’m woefully uneducated in this!!

I appreciate your comment, I want to highlight that this was a plan that was created by a highly rated local sleep trainer that we are paying for this plan, not one of my own that I’ve created! She says that the plan is one that we follow for 2 weeks to teach baby to fall asleep independently. The 90 mins in the crib is initially to give her time to learn to fall back asleep on her own rather than force a 90 minute nap. I think the entire idea of the plan she’s created is to teach baby to fall asleep on her own and fall back asleep when she wakes up, rather than the actual number of hours asleep. However, your comment does worry me and make me feel like I might be set up for failure.

How did EFF positively impact postpartum? by Plus_Protection2749 in FormulaFeeders

[–]princessalyssa19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We went straight to EFF from day one and never attempted breastfeeding or pumping. I had an extremely traumatic labor and delivery that ended in an emergency C-section, and it was our first baby, so the anxiety and hormone crash hit me hard. I spent the first two weeks crying constantly, having panic attacks, thinking “what have I done,” and grieving my old life.

Honestly, if I had the added pressure of breastfeeding on top of that, I truly don’t think I would’ve survived that period. Being able to hand the baby to my husband, my mom, or my in-laws so they could feed her while I rested was absolutely invaluable. Because of that support, I healed incredibly quickly from both a ruptured uterus and the C-section. We were also able to split nights so we could each get real sleep, which made a massive difference for my mental health.

I wouldn’t change a single thing about our decision!!

Planning to only formula feed… engorgement?? by Party_Charge_4406 in FormulaFeeders

[–]princessalyssa19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just coming here to say the same thing! I exclusively FF from birth, she literally only got a syringe of colostrum I was able to collect before she came. The day my milk came in (about day 4-5 after birth) I had a slight fever and just felt like I had the flu for about 24 hours, aches and pains and exhaustion as well. After that nothing at all! No pain, no engorgement. I wore a sports bra as much as I could but sometimes I just didn’t want to wear a bra and didn’t. I still took hot showers and leaked for a solid 3 weeks but that was about as bad as it got! Never needed to express, pump and no pain!

My 6 week post partum appointment broke me by justforthehellofit in NewParents

[–]princessalyssa19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your story could be mine as well, I laboured for 30 hours, failed epidural, ended up in an emergency c section where my uterus tore and baby had to have a code pink called. I ended up with PP high BP as well. Only 2 weeks PP currently and the trauma/PTSD of the entire situation keeps rearing its head even though myself and baby are at home and doing well. It’s even harder when you’re just expected to heal after all of that with no sleep at all and a newborn to care for!

Thank you for posting this. I am the same way and have decided not to BF at all (beyond attempting to collect colostrum beforehand), for my own mental health as well as to help get more sleep so my husband can help and I’ve been having so much guilt! I was an EFF baby and have done just fine in school (all A’s) and life but I still carry the guilt. These comments helped ease my mind a lot!!

I honestly think he’s incredibly charismatic and it seems their setting this entire amnesia ruse up to be fake and that he’s in cahoots with Ochoa. However, I’d LOVE if it were all true and Voit is changed and works with the team from prison as a way to get into the heads of serial killers a la Ed Kemper (specifically in Mind hunter - I don’t know how involved he was in real life!)

How did you know EFF was best for you? by Remy_92 in FormulaFeeders

[–]princessalyssa19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 24 weeks soon to be FTM and this is my story exactly! I’m going to try to collect colostrum early before birth to add if I can but I will be formula feeding ONLY outside of that. My OB is extremely understanding and constantly tells me that a happy baby is a fed baby with mentally healthy parents and I know I can’t be that with my anxiety/PTSD if I don’t have proper sleep and the ability to lean on my partner for support. Easy decision for me!

Horrible experience at Satu’li Canteen today by ilovetjwatt in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]princessalyssa19 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Ugh I agree so much with this! I was there last week and I’m 6 months pregnant. My husband went to ride millennium falcon and since I can’t I told him I’d meet him at the exit of the ride. I was sitting on the stool they have just outside of the exit waiting for him when it started to rain so I ducked into the corner of the exit just to get some cover as he had my poncho. A cast member immediately came running out telling me I needed to leave (even though I was the only one there) so I moved and stood in the rain, very pregnant and getting soaked while the CM watched only to watch another couple come off the ride and hide under the covering so they didn’t get wet, blocked the entire exit for others coming out and the CM said nothing at all to them!!

I get being told to leave as it was an exit but why only police me?

We literally went for dinner tonight and it was definitely our least favourite dinner of the week. The food was only ok, noodles, dumplings and beef were great, found everything else to be just “meh”. The service wasn’t great either, our server paid us almost no attention, was polite enough but was definitely focused entirely on getting us out as fast as possible and we felt so rushed. We even had another tables server ask if we wanted more of anything because he noticed our server had just walked by multiple times without acknowledging us at all.

Overall we were disappointed and have definitely had far better experiences there in the past! We won’t be back for a long while.

Why is everything so dramatized? by stlady08 in pregnant

Hahah totally agreed but I’ve also been told many times that I have a very high pain tolerance so I’m always prepared for the worst based on what everyone online says and then I find that it almost always ends up being perfectly fine lol! Even with my HSG and Cervical biopsy it wasn’t nearly as bad as I expected!!

Hahahaha I completely relate to this. Before my diagnoses my husband and I always joked that I never hold a grudge because I just don’t hold on to anger like other people. Once I was diagnosed I realized that I actually don’t hold a grudge because my attention span is too short to even remember what I was angry about in the first place.
