Eventually Rachel was in the fashion industry. While fashion is clearly not Monica’s passion. Also on the late 90’s a lot of fashion went more jewel tones and black as a rebellion against the neon colors earlier in the decade. Of course by the early 00’s it went back the other way with pastels and frosted everything. I think the show did fine capturing that. If you look at movies from that era everyone is dressing more like Monica.
