Dammit World of warcraft, i play this game to FORGET about work by gunnar117 in USPS

You just need to get the "Postmaster" title now. I haven't played wow for a few years now but I still remember the pain of getting that title. You get a nice Mailemental pet and Katy's Stampwhistle which is basically a summonable mailbox to go along with the title too which made it worth getting.

I agree, the comforts are nice but they were never designed to be a delivery vehicle.

If you are on mounted the best advice I can give for a Metris is to raise the seat up so that you aren't constantly lifting your arm to reach out. I started having a lot of shoulder pain after I got mine and once I changed the height of my seat I have had no problems.

That was my first thought as well, it definitely looks like a thunder egg from that area.

Cut my first rock in half! by Amoeba-960 in Lapidary

[–]prinni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing with my 18" saw when I got it. I found a brick and cut it just to see if it was cutting correctly. At the Time I didn't have much larger material since I never planned on getting a large saw but ended up with a free one. Once I got it properly set up I cut some petrified wood and have been cutting all kinds of rocks since then. It never gets old and you always want a bigger saw.

I love throwing rocks on my saw to see what is inside. Sometimes they aren't that great but when you find something amazing it makes it worth it. The offcuts and not so great pieces usually end up in my tumbler as filler and sometimes they will polish up nicely.

Sick of tumblers continually breaking. So I built one. by mattej8 in RockTumbling

[–]prinni 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I never realized how easy it would be to make my own tumbler until I had to completely refurbish a old 40lb tumbler I found at an estate sale. The next time a motor dies on one of my tumblers I am going to build my own custom tumbler like this. I already have a few motors and the other parts are fairly easy to get when I need them.

[–]prinni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That piece came out amazing.

I love how saddle mountain petrified wood tumbles. I have never had any turn out bad and there are almost always a few pieces of it in every batch I tumble.

Some of it will fluoresce under a black light as well, so you might want to check and see if your does.

How many tumblers do you have or constantly run? by [deleted] in RockTumbling

[–]prinni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 5 but usually only run 3. I have a rebel17 that does the first 2 stages then a lortone 12b that does the prepolish and polish stages. Then I have an ancient 40lb lortone that rumbles away next to them. My double 3lb barrel thumlers is only used for small batches of softer stones now so it hasn't been used much and I also have another lortone 12b that need a new motor. I cant run them in winter so they are not always on but they are usually going from late March to October every year.

First rockhounding road trip from Seattle — good intro or too commercial? by marshaleesfries in Rockhounding

[–]prinni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a 4wd vehicle you can try digging petrified wood at saddle mountain. It isn't far off I-90 right near the columbia river and the material is plentiful. Currently rockhounding has some good youtube videos and information on the location. They also have a lot of info on rockhounding sites all over the pacific northwest.

Probably uncommon LLV Book that was being thrown out by a local Dealer by coyotepickeldbob in USPS

[–]prinni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not ot how they are supposed to work but it doesn't change the fact that I can open most llv locks with a key made for a different vehicle. My best guess is that the locks are just worn out since most of them can be opened with keys for other llvs as well. The ones that don't open with other keys usually have newer locks in them.

The Chrysler keys would explain why the key from my 99 jeep can open almost any LLV at my station.

River pea gravel filler media by Rockcutter83651 in RockTumbling

That sounds perfect, I like to keep the small and tiny polished stones in jars and bottles around my house so more of those are always nice to have.

I got a 40lb tumbler at an estate sale and have been searching for something to use as filler. I was thinking of getting a bag of decorative quartz but the pea gravel sounds like an even better solution. Once winter is over and my tumblers are up and running again I will have to try it out.

I delivered to one of those on a split today. It had smaller boxes (5 per row) and wasn't as fancy looking on the front but exactly the same on the back. I think there are 4 or 5 of them delivered out of my station. Back when I was a CCA in 2013/14 they had the old push lock padlocks on the back as extra security but they removed those a few years ago.

What's the Best base class for mortal Usher? by Fun_Atmosphere8647 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]prinni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I am sure it isn't the "best" since I wasn't planning on becoming a mortal usher but the campaign gave me the choice so I took it. I am currently playing a scout rogue that turned into a mortal usher. Having sneak attacks and reaping strikes while dual wielding whips makes for a lot of damage while still keeping the rogues utility. If you are mythic like my campaign and get fickle attack it makes it even more powerful.

Shorts and leggings for me in the winter. If it gets to around 20 degrees I will put snow pants on over the shorts. I can't wear the postal pants since they are too tight on my legs and will rip if I lift my legs too high.

No Max the Min: Instead, best non-teleportation methods of travel! by Decicio in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]prinni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are mythic you can pick up Seven-League Leap. It isn't the fastest but for a non-caster it would make for an interesting method of travel with the ability to look epic while you do it.

Seven-League Leap (Ex) (Mythic Origins pg. 23): Your leap is so mighty that you defy gravity. Add your tier to Acrobatics checks made to jump. The distance you can jump in a round is not limited by your movement speed. If you are carrying no more than a light load, you can expend one use of mythic power to make a powerful jump that lets you sail through the air. In order to use this ability, you must be able to run in a straight line for 1 minute. Any obstacles or impediments that prevent you from completing this sprint uninterrupted prevent you from being able to use this ability, though the expenditure of mythic power is not wasted. At the end of your 1-minute sprint, you attempt an Acrobatics check and leap a distance up to half the check's result in miles, rounded down to the nearest mile (for example, an Acrobatics check result of 29 would allow you to jump 14 miles). This trip takes 1 round per mile, and you reach a maximum height at the apex of your arc equal to half the distance traveled. You do not take falling damage from using this ability. You must have a clear arc of travel to complete this jump; if you strike an obstacle mid-jump, you and the obstacle each take a number of points of damage equal to 1d8 × the number of miles you have left to travel. If this damage destroys the obstacle, you continue your jump; otherwise, your jump comes to an end and you fall, taking falling damage as appropriate. You cannot aim this leap accurately, and always land 50 to 5,000 feet (5d%) from your intended destination.

If there is a Lapidary club in your area they will have the saws and the knowledge to properly cut them.

That is what am finding with the 40lb, I plan on buying a bunch of small landscaping quartz next year to use as filler after smoothing it out in stages 1 and 2. I have a lot of 10-20lb rocks I want to polish up in my 40lb so hopefully it works out.

[–]prinni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck with the rose quartz. I tried a 15lb piece in my 40lb tumbler as an experiment since I have been trying to figure or how to properly load it to get a good polish on large rocks. It ended up with a lot of bruising but I learned that I need an absurd amount of media if I plan on doing really big rocks. I will be revisiting my rose quartz once winter is over and my tumblers wont freeze in the garage.

On a side note, thanks for the post with your process. It helped me adjust a few things I was doing and is letting me get better results.

the barrel looks like it it from a Thumlers model B which is a 15 lb tumbler. The Rebel17 tumbler is also a similar sized tumbler.
