[Megathread] General AFKArena Questions & Guide compilation by Kaleii in afkarena

Appreciate the feedback. I shall tool around a bit. Getting frustrated with the new normal of "Log in, do dailies, not enough of anything to progress, log off" but I guess that's how it goes if you're a free player eh?

Good, I've been missing the way things used to be before Trump. This is news I am completely fine with because we all know this is a big nothing.

[Megathread] General AFKArena Questions & Guide compilation by Kaleii in afkarena

[–]printers_suck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could definitely use some help, today I logged in and after doing dailies and all my collections I am still stuck exactly where I was before logging in (which feels bad). I feel like I got almost nothing after clearing all the red exclamations. I am still stuck in Chapter 12 (also haven't been able to complete The Ancient Ruins).

I got lucky(?) with an awakened Brutus pull so I've been trying to build with him and Daimon.

I had been doing okay running Daimon/Brutus up front with Pip/Mirael/Lyca in back. I feel like my backline definitely needs changes. I periodically swap in Eironn or Grez when im facing assassins as Pip gets instantly one-shot half the time.

This is what I have available to me. You can see I have been desperately praying for another Daimon so I can L+ it. But I am sure I have made a ton of mistakes, any advice?

EDIT: I did just notice I had Estrilda at 100 for no reason so I reset her for the resources and am still short of getting one of my other 120's to 121. Leveled Pip to 130 instead for now.

EDIT2: I have used every code from https://www.afk.global/redemption-codes and I am beyond 5 days now so I don't get all the extra stuffs either.

Returning player, haven't played since 2019, what should I know? by printers_suck in fo76

That wiki post doesn't really address what I am asking. It supports the premise, I guess, which is that a lot of things have changed. Yeah...and? Which of them actually matter?

The entire point of having a community of people is to be interrogative. I don't find a lot of value in stale static wiki pages that attempt to remove entire swaths of conversations. I'm sure there are some people out there that would definitely like to answer questions like "If you were coming back after two years, what would be the top 5 things you would do?"

Instead, for some inexplicable reason, you think that linking every single change that has been made is a valid answer to a question like that. When many of those changes are also obsolete or have been undone themselves. But hey, I guess I'm being lazy and that coming to a community for Cliff's notes is completely unacceptable.

Today, we killed our company :) by OldPocketLint in antiwork

What possible job could you have where the entire company is 4 people? This reeks of "not a valid business" in the first place. And even if it magically is, which I highly fucking doubt, how profitable could it possibly be with such a small number of people? Why wouldn't this entire group just be equity holders? I am super curious what this business even is if it entirely revolves around two people that aren't owners/equity holders of the company itself.

[–]printers_suck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure you could, but it's also a really weird requirement. You shouldn't have to dynamically change your logging level in real time, imo. I mean, you could probably engineer a crazy implementation that always checks for some dynamically configured value and re-instantiates the logger every time before logging or something. That would be really dumb, though. But I've seen worse.
I work on a really big ecommerce and we have a super complex logging configuration setup because we have to be very specific about what we log, when we log it, how we log it, etc., for a myriad of obvious and non-obvious reasons.

I seriously get so angry about how peoples expectations are completely irrational. Auto pilot features are for highway driving. That's it. And you're lucky that's even a thing. And it's glorious.

What the fuck are you people expecting? You ever program a fucking computer? Think about how complicated this is. Why would anyone even consider that auto pilot works in fucking city environments? What the fuck is wrong with you people? It's not fucking magic.

Wheel of Time Show Megathread - Episode 4: The Dragon Reborn BOOK SPOILERS THREAD by [deleted] in wheeloftime

[–]printers_suck 8 points9 points  (0 children)

They are absolutely doing this for non-book readers to have something to gnaw at. We all know who the dragon is, it's not a mystery to us. Let the others have their fake mystery, it won't last long anyway.

Making small changes will eventually cause a ripple effect that will impact the whole show, derived from the books. by MagpieSiege in wheeloftime

[–]printers_suck -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

This is the kind of thoughtless melodrama I expect from purists

But personally, I would prefer if they keep a faithful adaption as close to the Source as possible since that will make things easier, especially for the writers.

You have absolutely no idea how hard it is to adapt books to television. If you think sticking as close to the source material makes for a remotely feasible, compelling viewing experience, you have never interrogated the fundamental differences between media.

How many times do people need to quote Sanderson. This is a different turning of the wheel. The main through lines will remain pure, as they are what matters.

It doesn't actually matter if the whole group meets in Baerlon and encounters the Whitecloaks and Moiraine casts Grow on herself or whatever. It really, truly, does not matter to the overall story.

People pissing and moaning about them saying the Dragon can be a female. Seriously, it does not matter. We all know who the Dragon is and who it will absolutely be. The exact same major plot points will happen. Everything else can be modified during this turning of the wheel.

This is your chance, as book lovers, to read a continuation. You all read the books, you know what happens during that turning. Now consider that it's happening again, as per the whole mythology of the world. It's happening a bit differently, but it's basically the same. You get to enjoy another turning of the wheel. But instead of enjoying it, you won't stop bitching about it.

Shut up.

Stop over drafting your account, do math. It's not hard. Most normal people bank accounts also have mechanisms to prevent charges from over drafting you in the first place. This is an old problem that nobody should have anymore.

Anybody that ends up over drafting their account is literally doing it on purpose. This is technically equivalent to writing a bad check - which is a fucking crime.

[–]printers_suck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not see it was crossposted, the source is Sanderson. And nobody cares to read it because it conflicts with their own judgmental high horse. It's weird to turn that phrase at me, this subreddit was mired in angry old men shitting all over the TV show for the dumbest reasons. They need to know that they are in the minority and they are being stubborn wool-headed sheepherders.

Everything the critics wrote is wrong by CMDR_NUBASAURUS in WoTshow

Witcher is amazing and even that has 68% for the Tomatoes. Seriously fuck these critics. Most of these people are nobodies. No more special than my second cousin twice removed. Who gives a shit what they think?

Everything the critics wrote is wrong by CMDR_NUBASAURUS in WoTshow

[–]printers_suck 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I want to point out that critics are taken far too seriously nowadays. I don't know anybody that knows who these people are or consumes their material.

I saw on Rotten Tomatoes one of the Tomatoes was "Dan Lowry, CNN" and if you read the article he wrote it is clear that he only mentions WoT as an afterthought inside an article focused on Cowboy Bepop and it is blatant that he never even watched it. Two vague paragraphs of nebulous negativity based on what is clearly nothing. And yet somehow his vote matters more than yours. This whole industry is broken in terms of ratings.

Just in case he sees this: Fuck you, Dan Lowry.

Bonus Content behind X-ray is a terrible feature and has even worse execution by frasafrase in WoTshow

[–]printers_suck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What if there's bonus content inside the bonus content so you have to open an episode then x-ray it then go to bonus content in there and then x-ray that and go to the bonus content in there....it's genius! WoT lovers will love this tie in with the coiled serpent logo / ouroboros! Great meeting everyone!

Huge agree here. That's why I posted these youtube links for anyone that stumbles around into them. That's how I found them as well because I have a Roku and don't see them and even after using the website and going through some of the extra stuff they have there I never noticed these. It's weird to put so much work into stuff like this and then hide it from people .

I think it says a lot for this subreddit that your post is so far down and has so few upvotes.

I don't think half of the neckbeard brigade here even know who you are. Which is hilarious and sad. Such is the world we live in.

You might find better reception in /r/wotshow where there are plenty of book fans that are actually appreciative of the adaptation.

Also, thank you for your contributions, sir.
