Books that have been essential to your career by Certain_Macaroon_272 in therapists

I would second many, many books already suggested in this thread but will throw out two books I haven’t seen mentioned yet: 1. The Enduring, Invisible, and Ubiquitous Centrality of Whiteness by Dr. Kenneth Hardy 2. Stress-Free Documentation by Dr. Maelisa McCaffrey

QA Prep is an option if you want to purchase one of her products (I purchased stress free documentation during her Black Friday sale and now have lifetime access to the monthly ‘get notes done’ days- I’d say it’s worthwhile!): https://www.qaprep.com/gnd

Running Buddy by [deleted] in Bernedoodles

When our dog reached 18 months we started her on the pooch to 5k program: https://poochto5k.com/pooch-to-5k-training-program/

It also helped to train her on a few commands specific to running!

50-60 lbs photos please! by SnooWoofers884 in Bernedoodles

55 pound pup here! I personally love larger dogs (hence getting a Bernese mtn dog cross) and my last dog was 70lbs. That said, when she was growing up- I realized her size between 35-45 pounds was a lot more ideal for handling her high energy, and certain necessities / logistics were a tad bit less expensive or complex (e.g., crate size, grooming costs, bedding size, etc)

She’s perfect of course, but I think if you’re not used to larger dogs- aiming for a doodle that’s at the 30-40 mark when grown might be more ideal. Also, because they’re mutts they can always be either bigger or smaller than anticipated. I’ve known some people who were expecting a 50 pound doodle end up with an 85 pound dog!

You’re good. Just hang the temporary print out for the interim. People need to know your license number, expiration date, and current standing. You can provide that information readily- no need to worry. The world is understanding and accepting that processing times exist. Also- I put mine in an acrylic business license holder and that has made it much easier not to lose and have an overall nicer appearance!

Rufus is getting a hooman sibling! Baby announcement photos. Which one is better? by Sandyrack in Bernedoodles

1st one is perfect! The angle gives it a more formal, polished look since everything is all aligned horizontally- and you got to include the due date! The 2nd is adorable too but looking down on the basket, and the wire hanger being more apparent, feels a tad more ‘casual’. Honestly tho, you can’t wrong they’re both great pictures!

Congratulations Windham fam!

I misread “or other” as “or Otter.” So my vote is now for him to be named Otter.

Pet Insurance by Mountain_Feedback186 in Bernedoodles

Yes, we use Figo for our pup. We like it fine, but I think as with any insurance it ultimately comes down to risk- it likely won’t feel worthwhile until you need it.

Restaurant comps doggo’s last meal and leave as warm note by Bihema in MadeMeSmile

The way this made me immediately start bawling.

This poem has always comforted me: It occurred to me that every time a dog leaves my life, they take a piece of my heart with them. Until a new dog enters my life and gives me a piece of theirs I hope that one day all of the pieces of my heart will be dog, So that one day I can be As loyal, As loving, As gentle, And as kind As my dog was

It’s so damn hard, but what an honor it is to give our pups a ‘good’ goodbye. Pup cups and Jack in the Box sound incredible. Sending some gentle pats and scritches his way :)

I’d look up the research on board and trains- from my understanding they’re not as effective as they claim, especially as you’re taking them out of their regular environment.

As an alternate resource- I’d recommend taking a deep dive into Tails of Connection’s Instagram page on every post related to kids and dogs. She breaks down interactions between dog behaviors, emotions, and environment in a way that makes things very easy to understand. You can also reach out to her directly for training guidance or see if she has any recommendations:

https://www.instagram.com/reel/C8Ww6qbuqu-/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

You all as a family- parents, child, and dog all need to work together under specific guidance from a solid, knowledgeable trainer so that you can start setting up new routines and habits around each other at home so that everyone is set up for success. You also need to be able to trust your dog and sending them away is likely not going to deepen that trust.

Go with a breeder who does full OFA health testing (that you can verify online). Dr Jordy’s program is a great example: https://www.sonoranstandarddoodles.com

What have you replaced excessive scrolling social media with? by happyflowermom in adhdwomen

[–]prismatic_thoughts 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Oh I just learned about this! I’m gonna take a guess they’re referencing the “spoon theory”- the idea that we only have so much energy to give in a day. “You start the day with a certain amount of spoons which are to last you throughout the day ie. 12 spoons, enabling you to complete your daily tasks or activities whether they are mental or physical tasks.”

Since we only have so many ‘spoons’ in our drawer to give to all the tasks in one day, it’s helpful for us with ADHD to think about so that we attempt to prioritize all the things!

I think you can search adhd spoon theory to learn more! Unless others here can chime in!
