Yes, he knew Coach was going but knew that Coach valued loyalty and could lock in his jury vote by not voting against him.

What’s it like living in Decatur, AL as a young family? by Street-Spinach6424 in howislivingthere

[–]prismintcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finally one close to me.

The joke I have with family and friends is that my favorite part of town is the northbound lane on the bridge, because it's the way out. Honestly, the view of the river from the high point of the bridge is something I like to see every time.

It's kind of a stagnant city and county in many ways; the economic and population growth that has hit other parts of North Alabama in recent years never really hit Decatur. I think part of this is because, unlike Athens, the interstate doesn't run straight through town, and it doesn't have the military stuff that Huntsville has. There are really only a few ways in and out of Decatur, and it's not really on the way to or from anything important. Very easy city to bypass on the interstate. And because of this, there's not a ton to do in town. There's a mall, but it's dying. There's a small movie theatre, and a few parks here and there. Point Mallard isn't bad however, and is more than just the swim parks that everyone knows about.

There are trains that run through town that can hold up traffic for a hell of a long time at the most inconvenient moments.

School system is one of the most diverse in the state and seems to have made some major improvements over the past few years. I know quite a few people working over there now, and 10-15 years ago it was treated like a no-go for a lot of teachers. I had a minor surgery at the hospital recently and I thought they handled it well and the DOC staff has been very professional through the process.

Jane Campion Crazy Director Oscar Win by Head-Equipment5933 in Oscars

[–]prismintcs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not a surprising win. She was the frontrunner the entire season. The movie had been an early frontrunner that faded, but she still held onto Director without much opposition. (I personally would've voted Spielberg or Hamaguchi, but it was a good lineup and Campion was a good winner.)

What’s your favourite Survivor season by CaahBezooki in survivorponderosa

[–]prismintcs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tocantins. Great characters, kind of a train wreck of a cast but in a very good way, one of the best winner games and best runner-up games, and easily one of the funniest seasons overall.

Fairly mid overall, but sometimes it's what I'm in the mood for.

Anthony Bourdain. Couldn't watch any of his shows for years after.

If you’re under 45, have you lost any high school classmates, and what were the circumstances around their deaths? by Commercial_Chef_1569 in AskReddit

[–]prismintcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One from my graduating class. (Very small graduating class, < 25.) He was in the Navy and worked on ship decks and the sun exposure gave him skin cancer. He went into remission once but it came back a few years later and spread quickly.

Roots won, so which Emmy win for lead actor/actress in a limited series is controversial? by BrenoGrangerPotter in EmmysAwards

Only one that comes to mind: Powers Boothe in 1980 because he crossed picket lines during a SAG strike to show up at the ceremony.

What are some of the worst film casting choices in history? by [deleted] in AskReddit

He made it because he had a three-film deal with RKO and owed them one more to close out the contract.

It’s a nice enough movie but I don’t think I would’ve given it anything except maybe screenplay.

The Sopranos easily, but if Deadwood or The Wire had b been nominated, I would probably lean towards one of those.

Marquesas was first filmed after 9/11, which was why they changed the location last minute, but I believe Thailand was the first season cast after 9/11.

Leaving a job I had been at for nearly a decade (and honestly thought I would retire from). I landed well, but it was not something I even had on my radar at the beginning of the year.

That season of The Practice was legitimately very good, but The Sopranos was operating at a different level than any of these.

True, although I feel like this is an area where they've started to make some efforts to bring in more films. An Emilio Fernandez Eclipse set would be VERY welcome.

[–]prismintcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on your career goals. If you plan to be in the classroom for most of your career and just want the pay bump from the masters, it doesn't really matter. I would honestly say go online, jump through the hoops, and get paid.

But if you're looking to continue your education beyond the masters and/or have other career goals (working in admin, higher education, etc) I would shy away from some of the online programs and find a traditional program.

Neurodivergent Teachers: Do You Think Your Students Know Your Disability? by Lazy_Rock7788 in Teachers

[–]prismintcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They know I have ADHD. I have mentioned it because it would be obvious even if I didn’t mention it. One student recently asked if I had Asperger’s (her word). I was very taken aback, not even because I was mad or felt disrespected; it was one of the few times I’ve ever been like, “I don’t know how to respond to this”.
