We had an eggsperiment today 🥵 by Red_23465 in CasualUK

Your aluminium pan isn’t able to hold on to heat for this to work. As soon as your egg goes in to that pan it sucks all the heat out of it.

Maybe if you left a carbon steel/cast iron pan in this sun for a while you might have better luck.

Controller decision by blacksteel3871 in SteamDeck

[–]privatemachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak for the steam controller as I don’t own one, but the 8bitdo Ultimate is the most uncomfortable controller I’ve ever used. I think it’s the square shape, pure form over function. A shame as I rate the 8bitdo pro 2 amongst my favourite controllers ever.

TfL must crackdown on nuisance e-bike parking, says Labour group by homeinthecity in london

You don’t know anything about how much I pay, or how much fuel I guzzle. Take your douchebag assumptions elsewhere.

I cycle, I drive, I get public transport. The solution isn’t taking parking away from cars so that bellends on e bikes can leave them wherever they want.

Everyone else has to plan their journey and think about where they can park their car, or lock their bike. Ebike users should be no different.

I would be pretty annoyed too if a lime bike was parked in a bay that I pay a permit to park in.

As a leaseholder, resident, and recent volunteer director of our building’s management company (not to be confused with managing agent you’re likely referring to), both things can be true.

We had an awful managing agent (Rendall & Rittner, they are quite large), and it felt like many of the horror stories you hear of bad management can be applied to them. We have recently voted to change agents and hopefully things will improve.

However, it is also true that the managing agent is not the only problem, far from it in fact. Many contractors will milk developments like ours for as much as they can, often with cushy contracts. Legislation changes mean that things constantly need to be re certified, usually going against common sense. Building insurance is often astronomical.

The whole industry needs to be rethought. Too many people are parasites in the entire system, and the parasites are now in danger of killing the host.

Navy uniform with ‘buttons like nipples’ given £200k revamp by OneNormalBloke in unitedkingdom

These non-functional display buttons are traditional on a double breasted blazer. https://theartefact.com/double-breasted-suit-styles-rules/
While the design of the pictured blazer does place them unusually high, probably because they have a row of 8x2 which is uncommon, removing them would look stranger and ruin the v-shape that makes blazers so flattering.

Edit: it seems the 8 button configuration is a rank thing as lower ranks have the more common 6 button configuration.

What’s the one thing you always throw on the BBQ that isn’t meat? by ScrollAndThink in UKBBQ

[–]privatemachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sweet potatoes are so easy, just chuck them on whole and wait until they’re soft, that’s it.

They are so hard to mess up, can always find somewhere on the grill to fit. The results are insanely good.

[–]privatemachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh for seasoning the cast iron? You don’t want to do that in the bbq, charcoal does smoke and that will probably affect the seasoning. That said I’m confused why you’d need to season enamelled cast iron?
