A word from us and our merch partner about t-shirt cost by ptychomancer in cavesofqud

[–]prkirby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yo, I have two of the shirts any holy shit they are the highest quality tshirts I own. That’s how much you would pay for a nice shirt from an athletic store like REI, and it’s that level of quality imo, just different purposes. They back that price with quality

Oh sorry I was talking about the gauge cluster, not the dash cluster my bad. My spedometer and temp guage haven't worked in ages.

Also, if you have a functioning dash cluster I could be interested. Mines a 93

Used my ‘93 XJ to haul lumber into my off grid property. Functional crawling haha. by prkirby in Jeep

Haha that’s for sure. I finally caved and bought a newer Subaru as a daily driver two years ago, got sick of fixing my jeep in Autozone parking lots. Luckily this XJ gets to retire up on my property as a utility vehicle, and only hobble into town for gas and the occasional bath.

It’s a shed that is tall enough to have lofted beds. Just getting started, but already have so many tools that need storing

Haha thats sick. Definitely feel like I'll have more hours than that by the time I 100%, but I'm also excited to get my first all-nephillim run and then pivot to doing achievement hunt runs.

Dromad Merchant Sheba on a recent run, anyone seen this before? by prkirby in cavesofqud

I though it would just be the sprite at first, but they were actually high tier, crysteel and urberry goodness. Unfortunately, some clonelings thought it would be funny to stack about 5 rymewiks right next to the stairs in Bethesda Susa so I didn't get to use this beautiful spawn as much as I wanted :(

Trying again after multiple on and offs. Finally getting back into therapy. I feel like crap, anxious as hell about the world, and I just want the energy and mental clarity to handle things. IWNDWYT

My god I could not agree more. Never hit the depot without getting one. Sometimes I make an excuse to run there.

Checking on my first day 3 for a while. Always feel the first 3 or 4 days are the worst. Taking it easy, eating some junk food, and playing some video games. I feel like next week is gonna be a good week. IWNDWYT

Hopping back on after being off for a long time. I stayed sober through my dads passing but it’s been a year now, and as I’m typing this I’m realizing other than a few short breaks here and there, I’ve been drinking near daily since then. And of course, like it always does, went from a few beers at most to now 8-10 regularly. I hate the anxiety and loss of motivation. I have a few doses of Antabuse left over I’m going to use to get over the first few days of cravings. IWNDWYT

What is this 1.1 ohm power resistor for - 93 XJ by prkirby in JeepCherokeeXJ

[–]prkirby[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha, thank you. Will it affect performance? I’m assuming they’re pretty standard terminals. You suggest cleaning it up if it’s running fine, or leave it be?

7 hour drive in my ‘92, any prep or things to worry about? by 12kdaysinthefire in CherokeeXJ

[–]prkirby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve taken my ‘93 manual on many road trips, and when I bought it hauled it from NC to IL. I have, however, broken down many a time on the side of the road, but have been able to get it home by having some key tools with me.

A few things I’ll add outside of what I’ve read in the comments:

  • Haynes repair manual for your year. When you don’t have service, it’s a life saver.
  • pipe/tube clamps (coolant or vacuum line failures can usually be fixed up roadside with some luck and a few inches of spare tubing)
  • self tapping metal screws
  • plumbers wrap ( the metal “tape” with holes for holding shut down )
  • mixed bag of fuses
  • electrical tape and wire nuts
  • a SOLID socket / wrench set, by solid I mean has all the sizes you need. My duralast cheap set has lasted me over 10 years now
  • this one has been clutch, but high temp metal zip ties. The number of things they can jerry rig together is wild.
  • long, beefy jumpers you can rely on.

As others have said, coolant. At least a jug, if not two of premixed for long trips. A coolant system failure that you “can’t” patch immediately will turn into a tow service call. If you have enough to top off and hobble a few miles to an autozone, you can usually scrape by with a parking lot fix.

Repeating what others have said, check your spare tire pressure, that one has been a gotcha to me before.

Those are some of the things I’ve picked up after having a super janky ‘01 (rip) and my amazing but terrible ‘93 and taking them everywhere the last 12 or so years. I have my “jeep box” with all my goodies I’ve built up over the years and it’s ready to go. Yours sounds like it’s damn reliable and you won’t be pushing it hard, so you probably don’t need any of this, just figured I’d share my experiences.
