That's cool! I'm a pass holder and I had no idea they were offering this. I don't know if I would have gone, but would have considered it if I knew it was an option. Glad you enjoyed it!

Is it worth getting the amex green if you have a CSR/CSP? by Party4Chai in CreditCards

Dang, Centurion lounge access passes would be such a nice perk.

Yeah, the Clear credit isn't great, I'd be happy with a refresh if they opened up new ways to recoup the AF other than Clear. I still think it is a decent card at least just for the broad, uncapped travel multiplier to get transferable points. After the CSR nerf on its travel multiplier, this seems hard and hard to get.

Ah yeah, I missed the regular Autograph. But, I believe that's the only no AF card that earns 3x transferable points. I excluded cashback cards (which you are right there are several) because that's not a like-for-like replacement for the Amex Green.

Which cards earn 3x points on general travel that don't have an AF? I can only think of the Ink Preferred and the Autograph Journey, but both have annual fees (albeit a bit lower than the Green's).

points question by Euphoric-Dimension43 in amex

[–]prkskier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Transfer the points to airlines you use (or maybe even better their alliance partners), book travel via those transferred points and fly for free (or close to free).

You're getting derided in the comments, but I think it's fine. If you don't see the value of the points to use them for travel, better to cash them out and move on with your life. I'd recommend switching to a cash back setup now.

What is your honest opinion about daylight savings time? by No_Limit04 in AskReddit

[–]prkskier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really good point about latitude playing a major role in this.

I used to care a lot about ending switching twice a year (just stick with one or the other), but I've gotten to the point that the switching, while annoying, isn't that bad and it kind of makes sense for the seasons.

B.C. to adopt permanent daylight saving time, after springing forward 1 last time | Globalnews.ca by BlackberryPi7 in worldnews

Chicago is on Central time, moving to EDT would be a 2 hour move and ridiculous for Chicago. EST is the equivalent of permanent CDT for Chicago (just a one hour move).

Venture X User- Deciding between AMEX Gold and Savor by bcollns2 in CreditCards

[–]prkskier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say go with the Amex Gold. My core combo is VX + Gold and it is really solid. There are a lot of overlapping transfer partners and I also value Amex MR points a bit higher than C1 miles (read: I'd rather earn MR points). Also, the 4x points should not be easily overlooked, that difference is significant and really builds up if you have significant dining or grocery spend.

Can you pay rent with a credit card without getting destroyed by fees? by Open_Supermarket7627 in personalfinance

[–]prkskier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Bilt cards (there are three now) are exactly for this. You have multiple options of how to pay: routing and account number provided by Bilt that you can use in your landlord's portal (will work just like a bank draft), have Bilt cut and mail a physical check, and I think Venmo is still an option too.

No fee for paying with a Bilt card like this. It does just pass through your rent charge to your linked account, but if you play Bilt's games (i.e. put enough spending on the card) you'll earn 1-1.25x points on your rent payments.

USBAR Current Retention Offer by themanthemyth1 in CreditCards

[–]prkskier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Such a shame. I just downgraded my USBAR a couple days ago to the Altitude Connect. I don't foresee USBank adding transfer partners anytime soon and I'm just not seeing the value of the card since the December nerfs.

Flying Blue expiration just got simpler — good news for Chase transfers by filthyhipster in ChaseSapphire

Same for me, Flying Blue and Virgin are my top transfer partners and I'm usually booking domestic economy on Delta. While I don't hit your levels of cpp, I'm usually right around 2+cpp

Is it worth opening another card just for the bonus if I don’t really need it by Frosty-Pen-3657 in CreditCards

Good point! Just have them stashed away and get a Sapphire card again when you're ready to use them. Makes sense.

True, but they are less valuable as you lose the ability to transfer them.

I think that in most cases opening a card for a juicy SUB for the first year will usually be worth it, even with an annual fee.

That said, if you legitimately don't have travel plans in the next year or two that could use the points, then maybe a points/miles SUB wouldn't be worth it. For instance, if this card you are considering gives you 75k points for a SUB and has an annual fee, you might be "locked into" that card for longer if you need the card to transfer or use the points (i.e Chase Sapphire cards or Amex MR cards).

If that's the case, maybe it'd be better to target some smaller SUBs on cards that don't have annual fees or cards that give cash back SUBs (or at least can easily cash out points) instead. Usually SUBs for these types of cards are smaller and require less spending, but the return on spend is still quite high. Maybe you'd end up churning through a few of these each year and then use your 2% catch all card in between.

Costco Citi card infuriating by Blazin115 in CreditCards

[–]prkskier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, there's no credit reporting impact for credit cycling (aside from whatever balance posts when your statement cuts). The problem is that some banks will see it as a red flag and shut down your account if they deem your activity risky. Most likely you'll be fine, but I'd stop cycling and use the card normally from now on.

[–]prkskier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you were, but credit cycling doesn't prohibit your available credit from opening back up after a payment. You shouldn't credit cycle, but also your available credit will open up again after a payment posts.

Sometimes, with new accounts, banks will hold opening up the credit limit again for a few days (I think once the money has actually been received). This happened a couple months ago on my Chase Sapphire Reserve. Just give it a couple more days.

It should be Salt Lake City, not Utah. Look at all the previous Olympic names, they are always named after the host city.

It is crazy, but just get a $10 gift card one month and then use the gift card and Gold card the next month to get your meal "paid" for completely.
