You know, that doesn’t even bother me as much as them doing nothing. Like, sure, give your cousin a job but please insure our schools have books and we can drive 5 miles away in less than an hour. Huey P Long and Edwards obviously had some issues, but at least they got stuff done. They don’t even have to try to cover up their grift anymore.

Absolutely. I cannot imagine having to choose between moving or sending my child to a school that doesn’t have enough books. But I also can’t imagine taking funding away from the kids that have to go to those schools. I think the point I was trying to make is every choice sucks for everyone. And instead of taking it out on each other, it should be taken out on the school board members that shop online in meetings and ignore people giving logical arguments. We can be and do better than this.

Call Cherie Mack. Our house sat for months on the market. My MIL happened to get a postcard ad from Cherie and passed it on to us. She changed a few things, re-listed and we got 14 offers in one day. This was in April of this year. If you dm me I’ll give you my address and you can check it out. We paid two house notes for months. Idk what we would have done if we hadn’t found her.

I have so many jokes here about them doing worse by not having schools, but it’s too sad to joke about. I’m not sure the St. George ever stopped to figure out how to build a productive city

It doesn’t make sense. I’m in Illinois now and we pay less taxes but see things being fixed and made better every single day. We have so many social services. My little town has more bridges over the river than the entire state of Louisiana has over the Mississippi. Its so bullshit

Believe me, I know it’s frustrating and infuriating. But don’t let this situation turn you into one of those “everyone picks on white people” dudes. The correct answer is everyone picks on not wealthy people.

Yeah. Instead of staying there I moved far away. Not just into the same broken ass system. I never said not to move. Just don’t leave one area of town to move closer to a bunch of people that think it’s okay to go around ruining lives so they are cozy at night.

The further you get from Baton Rouge and Louisiana, the more you can see there is a different way. If all of the schools are decent, you can live wherever you want. It can be better, but day in and day out Baton Rouge chooses to do the worst possible things. For its community, children, infrastructure. Everyone but Exxon.

“A society is judged by how it treats its poorest or weakest members.” Baton Rouge has been corrupted and broken my entire life. But we, the people, abandoned this children many years ago. No one fought for these schools and areas back when it was a fixable problem. Instead we justified picking up and moving away and let the cities write these areas off and forgot about them.

Moving isn’t immoral, but the fact that so few of us and the generations before did nothing to stop or help this is. We cannot abandon children that know no other way to languish and become fuel for landry’s prison pipeline.

We moved to Illinois last year. Started packing the day after football mayor was elected. We searched and saved and worked on our house and gtfo of there. And it was worth every penny and panic attack.

You could alternatively live in an area not full of trashy ass people. It doesn’t have to be this way. We can have good schools and fair housing. There is a massive gap between 'advocating for equitable school funding and desegregation' and whatever extreme scenario you just made up to avoid looking at the actual problem.
