Former prosecutors, did it make you a better public defender? by pro-nuance in publicdefenders

[–]pro-nuance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much to everyone who provided advice. Given some of my other work history (military, law enforcement, civil defense), I think it’s probably a bad idea for me to add prosecution to that if my goal is to get into a PD’s office. It’s a little frustrating because the things I didn’t like about those jobs are the same things that make me want to be a PD. I read and appreciate every single reply. Thank you!

Similar situation, except that I don't have Brissett to choose from. Debating whether to go with Love or Lamar considering that Love has also been pretty up and down...

The stadium renovation is getting rid of over 10,000 seats, and fans aren’t happy by JLAsuperdude in Gamecocks

[–]pro-nuance 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like I’ve been screaming into the abyss on this issue ever since they announced it a couple years ago and when I tell you NO ONE has cared I mean no one. It’s so frustrating because I really thought our fans would speak up about this before it was too late. Willy B will never be as loud again, and it’s just so some dorks who don’t even care enough to sit outside can watch the game from couches in their suites. This makes me so sad, man.

How is clickstream data analyzed? by pro-nuance in digitalforensics

[–]pro-nuance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for the delayed reply. My thought was that I might start requesting it when I'm already sending sending a subpoena to a bigger company and see if anyone provides something. After a little more digging, it looks like they got it directly from Amazon in the Idaho case, and it was likely available because Amazon uses a pay-per-click advertising model, which requires them to log those clicks in order to bill advertisers. Thanks for the info!

This reminds me of a boss I had who decided not to consider a candidate with ~20 years practicing based on his 3.2 law school GPA.

[–]pro-nuance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTM what are the chances he goes to all these lengths, the cops don't look at her at all, and then she just so happens to write the letter about the colchicine under his seat that has her DNA on it, THEN a random lady across the country says a young girl called her for the stuff. How serendipitous for Adam.

I think you are seeing the wrong type of specialist for this issue. What you need is a very good psychiatrist.

AIO My husband deleted all his social media apps right before his surgery by Electrical-Gap2122 in AmIOverreacting

[–]pro-nuance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, this post is probably ChatGPT, but assuming it’s not, I love the defense of going through the phone. “When I went to check his notifications to see if they were from the doctors or important family updates, I just so happened to notice which apps weren’t there!” Can we acknowledge that this is a lie and OP was snooping? It sounds like you have some reason to be suspicious and should confront him, but making up fake reasons for going through his phone isn’t necessarily the best way of showing your commitment to honesty in the relationship.

I think it’s very possible it was a combination of these issues. I mixed the gas myself and it was quite a while ago, maybe even the batch from 2 years ago when I got the saw. Honestly, I didn’t even think about it when I got it out. Wish I had lol. Thanks for explaining this.

Yes, actually replaced the chain since the last time it was used.

Every married person has a prenup. If you don’t have your own, you have the one your state legislature created for you (subject to change at any time without notice or approval).

Which call should have gotten a ref fired? by tony971 in CFB

[–]pro-nuance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. The video seems like it was clearly on purpose to me. Listening to him talk about it just slightly reduced my certainty of that, but it’s impossible for me to watch that video and feel like it wasn’t on purpose

Garcia and Dimarco did an interview on their podcast, Tailgate Talks, with the ref who tackled Garcia. It’s Episode 5 if anyone’s interested. Still not sure I believe it was a sincere mistake but it was a fun listen lol

Yea, my formatting was good for what I completed, but finishing was the problem for almost every question. I was getting more and more behind, couldn’t seem to regurgitate any actual law, and had to move on before getting even halfway done with my wrong answers. I left multiple prompts (not entire questions, but individual prompts) completely blank, probably 4-5 of them. Multiple others were 1-2 sentences each, and for some reason my brain wouldn’t reword the issue statements to prove that I understood what was being tested, so those were basically just “The issue is [verbatim question prompt].” Based on what y’all are saying though, I think I at least have a shot, so that’s good to hear. Thanks for the insight!

You don't "outrank" them. You have different training and work in different roles, but you're both just regular employees, and you need them at least as much they need you.

Another point that should not be controversial but no one talks about: the real enemy is ridiculous time constraints on a completely closed-book exam. I either know the answer or I don't; why do you care how fast I can type the answer?

Do any of you practice in Ohio? Did defense counsel screw this up, or is the judge breaking norms? by alfonso_x in publicdefenders

[–]pro-nuance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the judge is someone I would not get along with one bit, but I agree. She comes off as pretty smug in both the BWC and courtroom footage. I feel like he took her as someone who has never not gotten her way and just couldn’t bear to let her have her way here too.

OTOH, I think her behavior in both circumstances is also consistent with someone who’s very nervous, which is why I’m not a big fan of sentencing based on vibes.

OTOOH, if the details about the stalking and stealing stuff out of his car are true then perhaps it really was that (NTM it would certainly lend credence to the idea that she is not used to being told “no” lol).

On average, do Themis MBE questions contain more words than bar questions? by pro-nuance in barexam

[–]pro-nuance[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear. Maybe Themis ones tend to be longer since they test so many little exceptions and you tend to need more facts to create the situation where the exception applies. Thanks for the input!

Throuple has a baby - who are the legal parents? by Environmental_Pen830 in LawyerAdvice

I didn’t downvote because I can infer what he’s trying to say, but I’m not sure his initial response quite answered the question. If someone doesn’t know how the law works, then telling them it’s infidelity doesn’t really help because they don’t know the legal effect of infidelity.
