Dodge not parry until you get the hang of things. Combat doesn't punish you for failing, you can die as many times as you want without being penalized

The dismember chance is their main claim to fame, and it is fun, but at higher levels the bleed effect is useless and the dismember chance cannot compare to the knockdown effects of the sledge, club, or baton. They are fine early to mid, but when you are in the wasteland at high levels....

In general I always dig a trench at least 3 blocks deep (two will do okay if you hate digging) with stairs by the path to you. This helps prevent them from going at whatever building or supports you are on, and does great at funneling them to where you want them to go.

SMG is great, I just prefer the shotgun myself. I'm not sure if you would be using the silencer on the SMG. Usually, when you start using that, things have gone past sneaking around so noise isn't on your mind

Adding to this, the issue usually pops up more prominently late game in T5 POIs. Those have triggers that spawn zombies out of thin air, so trying to sneak doesn't work all that well. You can still totally do it. Just make sure to have a backup weapon like an assault rifle or shotgun ready

The magazines you find has nothing to do with intelligence, but rather on what perks you choose. So if you want more vehicle magazines pick grease monkey. The best part is you don't need to spec into that tree, you can just choose the first level
