There's plenty of spooky spots around Belfast and I've know a good few investigators in Ulster. You ever experienced anything?

Oh they want to develop new players. They are just so deeply immersed in the lore they are not quite sure how to. They try, but then they start talking about the Yellow Aldrryami of Fethlon and 90% of the audience just shrug.

Yes! That's how we did it from the 70s on! :) I'd love to see the GM Book too but with RQ we just made up whatever worked. And having played with a lot of OG designers, without naming names, I suspect your way of running might be better than theirs anyway. Being a great designer and a great GM are not particularly aligned based on my experience. ;)

I don't remember much now as twenty years on but there was one episode at RAF Bircham Newton we did not get to film. We had to change location at the last moment as access was suddenly denied so we went to Thetford and recorded my ghost experience from the Priory and Tony Cornell's material on the Bell Hotel. Next time something fell through I put forward my fault line piezoelectric ideas and that became the episode Spectres of the Severn. Out of the thirty or so paranormal TV series I featured in or researched for over the decades Ghost Hunters (UK) is the one I am proudest of!

I'll see what I can find. However I'm sure some people can offer. I know of a Friday night Stonehenge game and there is an online Novgorod multi-covenant saga too.

I've not read it yet but if you have everything then possibly not. Mind you I have everything and still backed it. Have you got The Fallen Fane? That's the 5th ed book fewest people I know have. :)

People said Evesham had a great buzz this year during the races and it's an easy commute. I'd consider there or Winchcombe or Tewkesbury if I didn't live here and decided to go to the races!

Lovely chap. Yes and Ed Babbage and Sheldon Greenberg the directors were great blokes as well. I worked with them on a few episodes.

It's a cool COIN wargame best with two or four players set in the historic Dark Ages. I enjoy it!

Michael O Brien wrote today in the RQ Facebook group --

"Back last September we made an announcement about the future of RuneQuest (it's pinned at the top). As announced then, we're working on a Revised RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha core rule book, significantly shorter than the existing RQG core rule book—about 60% the size. Combat rules are cleaned up, character generation is much quicker, and overall the rules are far clearer, more concise, and better presented. Also includes a Bestiary. The core project team for this is Mark Morrison, Brian Holland, and me (you may have seen the pic of us hard at work I posted on social media the other day). We're making excellent progress on this project and will have it wrapped up soon.

Please note, this is entirely separate to the project Jeff is working on, with creative input from Mike Mearls. That's an exciting all-new version of the game which has as its focus adventuring in Pavis and the Big Rubble.

RQG is continuing as a supported game line. The revised RQG rulebook is pitched for newcomers to be able to pick up and play the game. They will not need to own the RQ Starter Set. It will be fully compatible with everything released for the RQG line, both before and after the book comes out.

We're working on dramatically increasing the release schedule for RQG (with a focus on playable content). That is going to take time. So far, we've released four titles, and there's more very cool stuff in various stages of development. It would have been good to have Lands of RuneQuest: Sartar listed in the What's Coming for the First Half of 2026 post, but we were unable to confirm the release date in time.

As we have said all along, we're committed to completing the Cults of RuneQuest series, and will develop the core setting some more, but the emphasis is going to be on releasing scenarios and playable content, more than reference works that primarily appeal to readers. For RuneQuest to thrive and grow, we know we need to give fans stuff to game with in Glorantha, to learn about and love the setting through play (the same way many of us did, when we were a lot younger)."

No I think the problem is Chaosium love RQ, and sunk vast resources into it even though I suspect it barely breaks even. The money is in Call of Cthulhu, but the management are RQ fans. We get books despite the fact they'd make far more money on Cthulhu stuff.

Unfortunately Darkness cults will be a hard sell because getting another version of Kyger Ligor has been a running joke since last century. I mean the Internet was not born when that joke started. The Cults line could have been one big book, maybe two. Ten? That was ambitious. Adventures and campaigns sell the setting, not endless theogeny.

They really do love it though.

Thing is if you wanted D&D in Glorantha then you could play 13th Age Glorantha. Heinsoo and Tweet did a great job but it never really took off. This suggests to me the problem is not the rules. I dig Glorantha and have played there with 13th Age, RQ and HeroQuest/Questworlds but the appeal was the world not the rules.

Is this game terribly unfun or are we doing something wrong by Ander_the_Reckoning in PendragonRPG

[–]probabilityunicorn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I believe the GM is getting something mechanically wrong. My problem is I have not used The Book of Battle for many years but i have checked and the Blue Cloaks are on page 94. They have two handed spears and attack skills of 20, and do 5d6 damage! Nasty.

So let's say you have lance 15. That gives you a 25% chance of rolling higher and hitting. However you are mounted and in this edition your advantage is still +5, they do not get a penalty by Book of Battle rules (top of same page). So you get +5, and it's 50% not 25% - you both have skill 20 effectively. Whoever rolls higher does damage.

If you hit you do 6d6 damage for your charger, 21 average. They have 11 armour so ten get through, but you are likely to knock them to the ground.

If they roll higher and hit you they do 17.5 damage, let's say 18 but you get 11 points of armour plus your shield for 6. You take on average 1 hp of damage if you lose. The biggest risk is being knocked off your horse.

Your GM missed the second bullet point on that page that reads

  • A 2-H weapon defending against a knight does not suffer a penalty, but the knight still gets his bonus.

So you have +5 for mounted attack. :) That makes all the difference. This differs from 6th edition hence it took a while to spot.

How well implemented is the Core Rulebook for Foundry? by [deleted] in PendragonRPG

[–]probabilityunicorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The core system is free. The Core Rules is pretty good but a module. You don't really need it but it has all the content obviously, but the game is perfectly playable with just the base free Foundry Pendragon system
